Nishaben,
a very powerful lady. indeed. We came to know her through our association with Dr K R Shroff Foundation. She becomes child-like with children & she is as much comfortable with the teachers, explaining to them in a very loving manner. She understands their situation and tries to be useful to them. She has all the qualities of a leader. She completed her Bachelor in Arts in 1998. To become a teacher she had to do B.Ed which she did 14 years after she left the college. She became a teacher.
She joined the K R Shroff Foundation as a teacher. She had qualities of a leader, very sensitive, and takes every one along. She has the responsibility of keeping a watch over 48 school teachers.
Being from Sabarkantha, she has a very lucid style of speaking.
Apart from overseeing the role of teachers she also takes care of the children studying under these 48 teachers. We have become good friends. She has interesting stories to tell. She is happy & full of pride that because of Shri Pratulbhai Shroff & Shri Udaybhai Desai she got the opportunity to work. She smilingly says that she is carrying forward the legacy of Father and Grandfather.
Similarly in Chitroda School there is one Jagrutiben. She is also very bold. When we went to meet her she said first let us take a photo and Vishal took one lovely picture.
For the growth of our country, we salute every such woman. Women milking the cows, drying the cow dung, doing household work and taking Donkeys and Goats to the grassland all are included. They are all a source of powerful energy. We salute all of them.

આપણે કહીએ ને આ બહુ જોરદાર છે બસ એવા જોરદાર. અમારો પરિચય ડો.કે.આર.શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશનના કામોના કારણે.. બાળકોની સાથે સાથે બાળકોને ભણાવતા શિક્ષકોને પણ એવું પ્રેમથી સમજાવે, તેમની સ્થિતિ સમજે ને તેમને ઉપયોગી થવાનું કરે. એક લીડરમાં હોય તેવા તમામ ગુણ..
બીએ 1998માં પુરુ કર્યું. પણ શિક્ષક થવા બીએડ કરવું પડે એમ હતું તે 14 વર્ષ પછી પાછુ કોલેજનું પગથિયું ચડ્યા ને શિક્ષીકા થયા.
KRSFમાં શિક્ષીકા તરીકે જોડાયા. પણ લીડરશીપનો તેમનો ગુણ, સંવેદનશીલતા, સૌને સાથે લઈને ચાલવાની ભાવનાના લીધે આજે ફાઉન્ડેશને મુકેલા 48 નિશાળના શિક્ષકોની કામગીરી જોવાનું એ કરે..
સાંબરકાંઠાના વતની એટલે ભાષામાં મસ્ત સાબરકાંઠાનો લહેકો આવે.
પોતાની હાથ નીચે કામ કરતા 48 શિક્ષકોની સાથે સાથે શિક્ષકો જે શાળામાં ભણાવે તે શાળાના બાળકોનું પણ એ પૂર્ણ ધ્યાન રાખે…

In the village of Devkigalol in Jetpur District in Rajkot stays Panchabapa. The house of Panchabapa is right in the middle of the street. The small house is built with raw bricks. Panchabapa has no money to do the flooring so the house would get flooded in monsoon. He would keep on removing the water. The walls were weak and it would become damp in the monsoon. When there is lightning it feels that the house would collapse.
Panchabapa does the work of a cobbler. He has a lot of self respect and would never ask for help from anyone. He has a son who was handicapped. & therefore could not work. Father & son stayed together in a small room.
Bapa’s vision had also grown weak yet he would cook food. His neighbours would also take proper care of him but everyone has their own house to take care of. So Bapa would not like to bother them.
Bapa’s house did not have proper vessels. We reached his home in the afternoon. There were Rotis made but there was no vessel to keep it safe. Rotis were kept in a wax bag.
Both father & son could not work. We provide them with the monthly food kit. This helps them to meet their daily food requirement and they live a respectful life. Our associate Smt Chhayaben has seen Bapa in distress because he did not have a proper roof in his house. She requested us to construct a proper house for Bapa. After meeting him we felt that we should make his home without any delay.
We requested our well wisher Shri Kishorebhai Patel from USA, He, in memory of his son Kushal, immediately agreed to build a “Kush” home for Bapa. He also gave vessels for the house for which we are extremely thankful. It is because of kind hearted people like him that such work gets done.
During storms the roof would fly off and during monsoon the floor would get flooded. He would be put into very serious difficulty. It was his wish that the roof & floor be repaired & there would be one light and a fan in the house. Having spent his entire life repairing footwear he had no money to fulfill his wish. VSSM became instrumental in fulfilling Bapa’s wish & we are happy about it.
રાજકોટના જેતપુરનું દેવકીગાલોલ ગામ. ગામમાં પાંચાબાપા રહે. આમ બાપા જ્યાં રહે તે શેરીમાં બાપાનું ઘર બરાબર વચ્ચો વચ.. કાચી ઈંટોમાંથી ચણેલી નાનકડી ઓરડી. ઓરડીનું તળિયું નાખવા પૈસા નહીં તે તળિયું નાખેલું નહીં. ચોમાસામાં ઘરમાં પાણી ભરાય. બાપા કહે, ચોમાસામાં સતત પાણી ઉલેચતો રહું. ભીંતો કાચી એટલે બધે ભેજ. ને વીજળીના કડાકા થાય ત્યારે તો ઘર પડી જશે તો એવું થાય..
પાંચાબાપા ગામમાં મોચી કામ કરતા. બાપા સ્વમાની કોઈ સામે હાથ લાંબો કરવો ગમે નહીં.. એમના એક દિકરા. પણ એ વિકલાંગ. ખાસ કામ ન કરી શકે. બાપ દીકરો એકલા ઓરડીમાં રહે.
બાપાને આંખો ઓછુ ભળાય. છતાં રસોઈ એમના ભાગે.. એમની બાજુમાં રહેતા કટુંબીજનો પણ બાપાને બરાબર સાચવે. પણ દરેક પોતાનું ઘર લઈને બેઠુ છે એટલે એમને બોજો ન અપાય એવું બાપા કહે.
ઘરમાં સરખી ઘરવખરી પણ નહી. અમે બપોરે પહોંચ્યા. એમણે રોટલીઓ બનાવેલી. પણ રોટલી ભરવા ડબ્બો નહીં તે એક મીણિયાની થેલીમાં રોટલીઓ એમણે ભરેલી..
કામ તો બાપ દીકરાથી થાય નહીં. અમે એ સ્વમાનભેર ખાઈ શકે તે માટે દર મહિને રાશન આપીયે.
પણ બાપાના માથે સરખી છત નહીં. એમને હેરાન થતા જોઈ અમારા કાર્યકર બાપાનું ઘર કરી દેવા અમને કહ્યું ને બાપાને મળ્યા પછી તત્કાલ ઘર કરી દેવાની લાગણી થઈ.
અમેરીકામાં રહેતા અમારા કિશોર અંકલ(કિશોરભાઈ પટેલ) ને કુશલભાઈની સ્મૃતિમાં આ કુશ હોમ બનાવવા વાત કરીને અંકલે તુરત એ માટે હા કહી. અંકલે તો જરૃર પડે ઘરવખરી પણ કરી દેવાનું કહ્યું. અંકલની આ લાગણી માટે ઘણી આભારી છું… તેમના જેવા સ્વજનોના સહયોગથી જ આ બધા કામો થાય…
પાંચાબાપાને વાવાઝોડામાં પતરા ઉડી જાયની બીક લાગે, ચોમાસામાં પાણી ભરાય ને એ દુઃખી થઈ જાય. એમની ઈચ્છા આ પીડા દૂર થાય ને ઘરમાં એકાદ પંખો, લાઈટની સુવિધા થાય તેવું ઘર કરવાની હતી. પણ આખી જીંદગી ચંપલ સાંધવામાં ગઈ. એમાં કાંઈ ઝાઝુ ભેગુ ન કરી શક્યા.
બાપા અમારા એટલે એમનું સરસ ઘર થાય એમાં VSSM નિમિત્ત બનશે…

When the third lake is ready, the borewells will cease to exist in this village. We will become the first village in Banaskantha without a borewell. How wonderful !
This is the story of village Raviyana in Banaskantha. Our favourite village. This village has about 250 houses. Farming & animal husbandry are the main occupation of the villagers in this village. Heavy use of borewells in the past years have lowered the water levels.
About 5 years ago we had received a request to help in desilting the lake. We asked the villagers to become partners in the venture. They collected a reasonably good sum of money and also helped in the lifting of the mud which was excavated from the lake. With this the lake got deeper.
Along with the rain water, the pipeline for Narmada was also connected to the lake. With this the lake started getting filled even during the non monsoon period.
In Raviyana about 100 borewells that are 1000 feet deep are functioning. Water is found at about 700 feet. If the lake was not desilted 5 years ago, even the Narmada pipeline would not have benefited the village. Due to desilting, the capacity of the lake to store water increased by crores of litres & the level of water at 700 feet was maintained. Farmers do not have to put new columns and also from the lake the water is directly used in the farms by putting the motor. The power bills have also been greatly reduced. Lifting of water from the depth has also stopped.
On seeing the benefits of desilting of one lake, in partnership with the village we did the second lake and now there is a request to do a third one.
We requested crowd funding from villagers. We explained that this would help us to dig more soil and increase the capacity of the lake.After much hesitation they all agreed.
The village senior Umedbhai requested for the third lake. He said that” if we get the third lake, our village will not need Borewells. A time will come when we will manage our lives without Borewells.
For the third lake, we got help from respected Shri Ashishbhai Mehta- Rajabhai ( M/s Kantilal Chhotalal) . We are thankful for the same. It is because of well wishers like Shri Ashishbhai that we have been able to desilt 265 lakes for which we are extremely happy. We are obliged to all our well wishers & supporters who standby us in all our work.
‘ત્રીજુ તળાવ ખોદાઈ જાય તો ભવિષ્યમાં બોરવેલની સ્મશાનયાત્રા કાઢનારુ બનાસકાંઠાનું અમે પ્રથમ ગામ બનીશું..’
કેવી મજાની વાત. બોરવેલની સ્મશાન યાત્રા એટલે બોરવેલને ગામમાંથી સંપૂર્ણ તીલાંજલી.
વાત બનાસકાંઠાના રવિયાણાગામની. અમારુ ગમતીલું ગામ.. ગામમાં લગભગ 250 ઘરની વસતિ. ખેતી અને પશુપાલન ગામનો મુખ્ય વ્યવસાય. પાણીના તળ પાછલા વર્ષોમાં બોરવેલમાંથી સતત ઉલેચાવાના કારણે નીચે ગયા.
લગભગ પાંચેક વર્ષ પહેલાં ગામે અમને ગામનું તળાવ જે છીછરુ હતું તેને ઊંડુ કરવા મદદ કરવા વિનંતી કરી. અમે ભાગીદારીની વાત કરી. ગામે પણ સારો એવો ફાળો ભેગો કર્યો. એ ઉપરાંત માટી પણ ઉપાડી ને એમ કરીને ગામનું મુખ્ય તળાવ ઊંડુ થયું. વરસાદી પાણીની સાથે સાથે નર્મદા પાઈપલાઈન સાથે પણ સરકારે એને જોડ્યું. એટલે ચોમાસા સિવાય પણ તળાવ ભરાવા માંડ્યું.
રવિયાણામાં 1000 ફૂટના 100 ઉપરાંત બોરવેલ ચાલે. પાણી 700 ફૂટે મળે. પણ પાંચ વર્ષ પહેલાં તળાવ ખોદાયું ન હોત તો નર્મદાની પાઈપલાઈનથી પણ ઈચ્છીત ફાયદો થયો ન હોત. તળાવ ખોદાવવાના લીધે પાણી ભરાવવાની ક્ષમતા તળાવની કરોડો લીટરની વધી. જેના લીધે પાણીના તળ 700 ફૂટે જળવાઈ રહ્યા છે. ખેડૂતોએ બોરવેલમાં નવી કોલમ ઉતારવી નથી પડતી. વળી તળાવમાં સીધી મોટર મુકીને પણ ખેડૂતો ખેતરમાં પિયત કરી રહ્યા છે. લાઈટબીલમાં પણ સખત ફાયદો થયો અને ભૂગર્ભમાંથી પાણી ઉલેચાવાનું પણ બંધ થયું.
એક તળાવથી થયેલા ફાયદા પછી અમે ગામનું બીજુ તળાવ ગામની ભાગીદારીથી VSSMએ પાછુ ખોદ્યું. અને ગામે હવે ત્રીજુ તળાવ કરવા અમને વિનંતી કરી.
અમે લોકફાળો કરવા વિનંતી કરી. માટી ઉપાડવા ઉપરાંત લોકફાળો કરશો તો તળાવ વધારે ઊંડુ થશેનું કહ્યું ને સૌ થોડી આનાકાની વચ્ચે સહમત થયા.
પણ ગામના આગેવાન ઉમેદભાઈ તેમજ યુવા સરપંચ રસીકભાઈએ કહ્યું, ‘જો અમારુ આ ત્રીજુ તળાવ ખોદાઈ જાય તો અમારા ગામમાં અમારે બોરવેલ ચલાવવો નહીં પડે.. સ્મશાન યાત્રા એની કાઢી શકાય એવો સમય આવી જશે..’
ત્રીજુ તળાવ ખોદવા માટે આદરણીય આશીશભાઈ મહેતા – રાજાભાઈ (મેસર્સ કાન્તીલાલ છોટાલાલ) એ મદદ કરી એ માટે એમના ઘણા આભારી છીએ.. VSSM સાથે સંકળાયેલા આશિશભાઈ જેવા સ્વજનોના લીધે અમે પાછલા સાત વર્ષમાં 265 તળાવો ઊંડા કરી શક્યા છીએ જેનો વિશેષ આનંદ છે.. VSSM ના કામોમાં મદદ કરતા સૌ સ્વજનો પ્રત્યે કૃતજ્ઞતા… અને બનાસકાંઠામાં જળસંચયના કામો કરતી અમારી ટીમ નારણભાઈ, મહેશભાઈ, જોરાભાઈની કર્મઠતાને સલામ..

Chakuma’s Tea and Chakuma’s House
“You cannot have our tea… right ? Chakuma from Kolda village of Amreli District had asked such a direct question to me. She has no one to support her so we send her our ration kit every month and we take care of her. Her food problem was solved but still she was not happy. Her house was in a dilapidated state and in the monsoon it leaks from everywhere. Chakuma remains busy wiping the wet floor. With the help of our Alimbhai Adatyaa and others we built her house. Alimbhai is a noble soul and I can write a special article on him.
I had promised Chakuma that I would come to her home & have tea which I did when I went to see her new home. When I had seen her for the first time she looked dejected but now in her new home , her face had become brighter. Her house was filled with neighbours.
What better than to be instrumental in bringing happiness in someone’s life. It is with the support of several kind hearted people that we are able to bring happiness in lives of thousands of dependent old people like Chakuma.
I thank all from the bottom of my heart and wish & pray that we are able to eliminate misery from the lives of all.
ચકુમાની ચા અને ચકુમાનું ઘર
અમારો ચા તમને નો ખપે ને? આવો વેધક સવાલ અમરેલીના કોલડાગામના ચકુમાએ થોડા મહિના પહેલા પુછેલો. એ નિરાધાર અમે દર મહિને રાશન આપીયે એમનું ધ્યાન રાખીયે. ખાવા પીવામાં શાંતી થઈ ગઈ પણ એક વાતે એ હજુ દુઃખી હતા. એમનું ઘર જર્જરીત. ચોમાસામાં આખા ઘરમાં દંદુડા પડે. વરસતા વરસાદમાં ચકુમા ઘરમાંથી પાણી ઉલેચ્યા કરે. અમારા અલીમભાઈ અદાતિયા અને અન્ય સ્વજનોની મદદથી અમે એમનું ઘર બાંધ્યું. એમની લાગણી માટે આભારી છું. અલીમભાઈ તો ખરેખર ઓલિયા માણસ.એમના વિષે તો જુદુ લખી શકાય.

કોઈના ચહેરા પર આનંદ લાવવામાં નિમિત્ત બની શકાય એનાથી મોટુ સુખ શું હોઈ શકે? અનેક સ્વજનો મદદ કરે એના કારણે ચકુમા જેવા હજારો લોકોના જીવનમાં સુખ લાવી શકીએ છીએ…

We have got houses, but now the problem is lack of occupation/work. We collect scrap from the streets (scavengers). We got houses in the Gondal-Gundala area of Rajkot. We collect scrap in the city of Gondal. So far our hut dwelling was also in Gondal. We used to leave in the morning with the gunny bag on our shoulders to collect scrap. By afternoon the bag would get full which we would take it to our hut. We would do this for 2-3 days when the scrap dealer would come and collect all the scrap. But now you have given us houses in Gundala. We are happy about it. Our lifelong dream of having our own house is fulfilled. We have settled down in the new house but now the difficulty is with our work. Gundala to Gondal is about 7 kms. From Gundala we reach Gondal with empty gunny bags in a vehicle. We collect the scrap but after collection to go back to Gundala is a challenge. The distance is too long. To take a rickshaw and go home to Gundala is an expensive proposition .
We do not know what to do . We got our houses but if we cannot do business what do we eat? We would not like to stay in temporary sheds now that we have proper homes in Gundala. It is after a great deal of trouble that we have our own homes.
With the efforts of all located in the Gundala area of Gondal, VSSM was able to build houses for 87 families. One of the residents of this home, Smt Gajraben, came to our associates Chhayaben and Kanubhai with the problem faced by about 15 families.. We thought of solving their problem by providing them with a pedal rickshaw. However, the financial condition of these families is so bad that they cannot buy a pedal rickshaw even after taking a loan. While we were thinking how to solve the problem, we got a phone call from our well-wisher Shri Rajeshbhai Mehta that he along with other well wishers would help solve the pedal rickshaw problem. We felt that this is all nature’s play. ‘ઘર મળી ગયા પણ તકલીફ કામની હતી.. અમે ભંગાર વીણવાનું કામ કરીએ. રાજકોટાના ગોંડલના ગુંદાળામાં અમને ઘર મળ્યા. કચરો અમે ગોંડલ શહેરમાં વીણીયે. અત્યાર સુધી અમારુ ઝૂંપડું પણ ગોંડલમાં જ હતું એટલે ખભા પર કોથળા લઈને સવારના નીકળી પડીયે. બપોર સુધી ભેગુ થાય એ ભંગાર ખભા પર કોથળામાં લઈને ઝૂંપડે આવીયે. બે ચાર દિવસ આ રીતે ભંગાર ભેગો થાય પછી ભંગારવાળા ભાઈ અમારા છાપરે આવીને સામાન લઈ જાય. પણ તમે અમને પોતાના ઘર ગુંદાળામાં કરી આપ્યા. રાજી તો થવાય. વર્ષોનું અમારા ઘરનું સપનું પુરુ થ્યું.
અમે રહેવા આવી ગયા. પણ પછી તકલીફ ભંગાર વીણવાના ધંધાને લઈને થવા માંડી. ગુંદાળાથી ગોંડલ છ સાત કી.મી. થાય. અમે વાહનમાં ખાલી કોથળા સાથે બેસીને ગોંડલ પહોંચી જઈએ. ભંગાર વીણી લઈએ. પણ એ ભંગાર ખભા પર લઈને વસાહતમાં આવવું મુશ્કેલ થઈ જાય. અંતર ઝાઝુ છે એટલે. રીક્ષા કે કોઈ સાધનવાળાને બેસાડવા કહીએ તો એ ભાડુ એટલું માંગે જેટલો અમે ભંગાર ભેગો કર્યો ન હોય…
શું કરવું સમજાતું નહોતું. ઘરનું સુખ મળ્યું. પણ ધંધો ન કરીએ તો ખાઈયે શું?. પાછુ ગોંડલમાં છાપરુ વાળવું પણ ગમે નહીં. માંડ માંડ છાપરાંમાંથી મુક્તિ મળી હતી’
ગોંડલના ગુંદાળામાં VSSM એ સંસ્થા સાથે સંકળાયેલા સ્વજનોની મદદથી 87 પરિવારોના ઘરો બાંધ્યા. આ ઘરમાં રહેવા આવનાર ગજરાબહેને ભંગારનો ધંધો કરતા 15 પરિવારોની મૂંઝવણ અમારા કાર્યકર છાયાબહેન અને કનુભાઈને કહી. રસ્તો એમને પેડલ રીક્ષા આપવાનો અમે વિચાર્યો.
પણ આ પરિવારોની આર્થિક સ્થિતિ અત્યંત ખરાબ. એ પોતે લોન લઈથી પેડલ રીક્ષા ખરીદી શકે નહીં.
શું કરવું એ મૂંઝવણ હતી ત્યાં મુંબઈમાં રહેતા અમારા પ્રિયસ્વજન રાજેશભાઈ મહેતાનો ફોન આવ્યો ને એમણે કેટલાક પ્રિયજનો આવા કાર્યમાં મદદ કરવાની ભાવના રાખે છેનું કહ્યું.
અમને તો જાણે આ બધુ કુદરતે ગોઠવી આપ્યાનું લાગ્યું.. મુંબઈથી અમને શ્રી જેસલકુમાર ભરતભાઈ શાહ, શ્રી મિલનભાઈ રતિલાલ શાહ, શ્રી તુષારભાઈ મોદી, શ્રી વિનયભાઈ મહેતા, Kaycee Diamonds એ મદદ કરી ને અમે 15 પરિવારોને સાયકલ આપી. રાજેશભાઈ આમાં નિમિત્ત બન્યા…

When we started the work of water conservation we found it tough. We also had apprehension about whether we would be successful or not. However doggedly we pursued the task on hand. The result is that till date we have been able to revive 285 lakes.
Many have been helpful in this task which is the need of the hour.
The shortage of water has put several villages in a desperate situation. Our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has been promoting the concept of “catch the rain” for the last two years. The conservation measures have been initiated in these last 2 years. This mission of conservation of water should continue unabated.
We have been desilting the lakes since last many years in order that the rain water is conserved in larger quantity. This work needs to be done more intensely. We have started this mission apart from Banaskantha in Patan too.
We desilted Banaskantha‘s old lake with the help received from the villagers and Sanjaybhai Shah of Star Chemicals. Sanjaybhai has been helping VSSM in its water conservation & other works. It is because of well wishers like him that we have successfully desilted 285 lakes. We wish that more villages need to take this mission seriously so that more rain water is conserved in the lakes and the problem of water scarcity is resolved.

પાણીને લઈને વિકટ સ્થિતિમાં દેશના અનેક ગામો મુકાયા છે. આપણા વડાપ્રધાન શ્રી નરેન્દ્ર મોદીએ કેચ ધ રેઈન અભીયાન બે વર્ષ પહેલાં શરૃ કરેલું.. એ દરમ્યાન ગામોમાં વરસાદી પાણી રોકવા ઘણા પ્રયત્નો સરકારી રાહે થયા. પણ આ અભીયાન સતત ચાલે તે જરૃરી..
અમે વરસાદના ટીપે ટીપાને બચાવવા તળાવો ઊંડા કરવાનું કામ પાછલા ઘણા વર્ષથી કરીએ. પણ આ પ્રત્નોમાં હજુ સઘન કરવાની જરૃર છે. બનાસકાંઠા ઉપરાંત પાટણમાં પણ અમે તળાવો ઊંડા કરવાની મુહીમ હાથ ધરી.
બનાસકાંઠાનું જુના મોજરુનું તળાવ અમે ગામ અને આદરણીય સંજયભાઈ શાહ- સ્ટાર કેમીકલની મદદથી ખોદ્યું. સંજયભાઈ વર્ષોથી VSSM ને જળસંચય અને અન્ય કામોમાં સહયોગ કરે તેમના જેવા સ્વજનોની મદદ છે માટે જ 285 તળાવો ઊંડા કરી શક્યા છીએ.
ગામો પણ પોતાની રીતે તળાવો ઊંડા કરવા કટીબદ્ધ થાય ને ગામમાં વરસતા વરસાદના ટીપે ટીપાનું સરનામુ ગામનું જલ મંદિર બને તેવી અભ્યર્થના…

We have been instrumental in building homes for 1600 families.
This figure of 1600 is inconsequential considering that there are millions of homeless people in this world. However, we are happy to have done our bit with the help of several well wishers. Moreover we have not stopped at 1600. In Raigadh village of Sabarkantha we are building No. 1601 to No.1606 homes. In this endeavour we were helped by Shri Nitin Sumant Shah of Heart Foundation & Research Institute. A very large hearted person, he helps us in various ways apart from house construction.
Seeing their houses getting constructed, Bharthari families were extremely happy. Government provides subsidies of Rs 1.20 lakh per house. The Bharthari families also took loans and gave us money and the balance was contributed by Shri Nitinbhai. Thus with the joint efforts, we could provide homes for the families which have since centuries been nomads and have never ever stayed in properly constructed homes. Ugarkaka, an elderly from the Bharthari community, said several people asked as to how we could manage to construct such houses when we have spent our lives singing hymns and rhymes ? How did we get so much money ? Ugarkaka laughed and said “we built such houses which gave us pride. Those who have nobody, God is with them”
We are thankful to the Government, Panchayat and respected shri Nitinbhai. They all had kind feelings which made this possible.
We pray to God that we continue to add more to 1600 and also keep on adding more well wishers in our mission.
અમે 1600 પરિવારોના ઘરો બાંધવામાં નિમિત્ત બન્યા..
આ આંકડો આ જગતમાં રહેતા ઘર વિહોણાની સંખ્યામાં કીડીના પગ જેટલો. પણ આ નાનકડું કામ VSSM સાથે સંકળાયેલા સ્વજનો મારફત કરી શક્યાનો હરખ.
વળી 1600થી અમે અટક્યા નથી. સાબરકાંઠાનું રાયગઢ ત્યાં 1601 થી લઈને 1606 નંબરનું ઘર બાંધી રહ્યા છીએ. એમાં મદદ કરી હાર્ટ ફાઉન્ડેશન એન્ડ રીસર્ચ ઈન્સ્ટીટ્યુટના શ્રી નિતીન સુમંત શાહે.. એકદમ દરિયાદીલ વ્યક્તિ. અમને ઘર બાંધકામ સિવાય પણ અન્ય કામોમાં મદદ કરે.
ઘર બંધાતા જોઈને ભરથરી પરિવારો તો રાજી રાજી. ઘર બાંધકામમાં સરકારે 1.20 લાખની મદદ કરી. ઉપરાંત આ પરિવારોએ પણ અમારી પાસેથી લોન લઈને એક રકમ ઉમેરી બાકીની નીતિનભાઈએ આપી.
આમ સહિયારા પ્રયાસથી સદીઓથી રઝળપાટ કરનાર અને કદીએ પાક્કા ઘરમાં ન રહેલા પરિવારોના ઘર બંધાવાના શરૃ થયા.
ઉગરાકાકા કહે, ‘અમારા ઘર બંધાતા જોઈને ગામના ઘણાએ કહ્યું, અલ્યા તમે તો હાલરડાં ને ભજનો ગાનારા તમારી પાહે આવા અસલ ઘર બાંધવા આટલા બધા પૈસા ક્યાંથી આવ્યા?’ આટલુ કહી ઉગરાકાકા હસ્યા. પછી પાછુ કહ્યું, ‘વટ પડી જાય એવા ઘર બાંધ્યા. જેનું કોઈ નથી એના ભગવાન તો છે ને?’
સરકાર, પંચાયત અને આદરણીય નીતિનભાઈના અમે આભારી. આ બધાની લાગણી હતી એટલે આ કામ થયું.
બસ 1606 થી આગળ આંકડા લખ્યા કરીએ એવી રીતે સૌને સાથે જોડવા ઈશ્વરને પ્રાર્થના…

Groundbreaking ceremony
Invited guests included Respected Shri Kaushikbhai Vekaria. A senior from the village Navdhanbapa was given the responsibility to honour the guest with a book and a bouquet of flowers. One person came on the stage with a tray in which the book and the bouquet were kept. Navdhanbapa took the entire tray and gave it to the guest Shri Kaushikbhai. People present were guiding Navdhanbapa how to go about the presentation.He was told to look at the photographer , keep the tray down and give the book and bouquet to the guest. The same thing happened when honouring other guests MLA Shri Bagsara, the municipal commissioner & other officers. Only when the last two guests were left to be honoured that the correct procedure was followed.
The incident is a bit light hearted and brought smiles on every one’s face. Our Navdhanbapa confessed that he has never seen so many dignitaries being present in their community. This was his first experience.
Totally innocent & honest. 104 families of Amreli district stayed in Bagasara village for many years. However, they had no identity papers with them. Respected Shri Devchandbhai Savaliya works in Bagasara Village. He invited us to the village to meet the families and requested us to get these 104 families their identity papers, We managed to get them the identity papers. Based on that we also got them, voter’s card, Aadhar Card, caste certificate, Jan dhan bank account, ration card . Ultimately the plots were allotted and now construction of houses will begin.
The Government was very kind and allotted them the plots. The Government will also give Rs 3.50 lakhs to each family towards the cost of construction. In this regard, the Respected Chief Minister helped a lot. Whatever was still short was funded by VSSM well wisher respected Shri Kishorebhai Patel in memory of Dear Kushalbhai. With the efforts of the Government & VSSM all the families will get permanent houses. They will move from unsheltered living into habitats of love & care.
The Ground breaking ceremony for the 104 families was performed on 10th March 2024. Respected Shri Kaushikbhai is a kind hearted soul and he remained present. He sought information of all such families in Amreli who do not have houses so that they can be helped. MLA Shri J V Kakadiya is equally kind hearted. He affirmed that alongwith Smt Jyotsnaben, Municipal Commissioner, they will be available anytime for any help required.
The Collector Shri Kamlesh Nanda is a very soft person and he has been helping us in our various activities and also remained present. He talked about why education is so important. The mamlatdar of Bagsara, the Chief Officer and other officers all remained present on this happy occasion.
The dream of our Rameshbhai to provide houses to these families ultimately was realised. He had worked really hard on this project..We are extremely happy that we have workers like him. The leader of the community Jackybhai & others stood strongly with us to ensure the completion.
Everyone was busy since morning for the preparatory work of the Ground breaking ceremony. All dressed in new clothes, playing garba and getting rangoli decoration done. The program got over with community lunch.
We are thankful to all who helped VSSM in this mission. We earnestly wish that all without homes in all villages get one very soon.
ભૂમીપૂજનનો કાર્યક્રમ..
કાર્યક્રમમાં ઉપસ્થિત મુખ્ય મહેમાન આદરણીય શ્રી કૌશિકભાઈ વેકરિયા- નાયબ દંડક શ્રીના સ્વાગત માટે નવઘણબાપાને વિનંતી કરુ એ સ્ટેજ પર આવે અને કૌશિકભાઈનું પુસ્તક અને ફુલછડીથી સ્વાગત કરે.
એક ભાઈ ટ્રેમાં પુસ્તક અને ફુલછડી લઈને આવ્યા. ફોટોગ્રાફર જે બાજુ ઊભેલા તેની વિરુદ્ધ ઊભા રહીને બાપાએ પેલાભાઈના હાથમાંથી આખી ટ્રે લઈ લીધી અને સીધે સીધી કૌશિકભાઈને ઘરી. ઉપસ્થિતિ સૌ એમને શીખવી રહ્યા હતા કે ફોટોગ્રાફર સામે જોવાનું ને થોડીવાર ઊભા રહેવાનું. ટ્રે હેઠે મુકી દ્યો ને ખાલી પુસ્તક અને ફુલછડી જ કૌશિકભાઈને આપો..
આવું જ એ પછીના મહેમાનો એટલે ધારાસભ્ય શ્રી બગસરા, નગરપાલિકાના પ્રમુખ અને અન્ય પદાધિકારીઓના સન્માન વખતે થયું. છેલ્લે એક બે વ્યક્તિઓના સન્માન વખતે અમારા પરિવારોને ખ્યાલ આવી ગયો કે ઊભવાનું ક્યાં ને ટ્રે ને નહીં અડવાનું..
વાત જરા રમૂજ જેવી લાગે.. પણ અમારા નવઘણબાપાએ કહ્યું, ‘આ અમારો પેલવેલો અનુભવ અમે ક્યારેય આટલા બધા મોટા માણસોને અમારી વસાહતમાં ભાયળા નથ..’
એકદમ પવિત્ર અને સાચા માણસો.. અમરેલીનું બગસરા 104 પરિવારો વર્ષનો ઘણો ભાગ છેલ્લા કેટલા વર્ષથી બગસરામાં રહે. પણ એમની પાસે ઓળખના આધારોય ત્યાંના ન જડે.
બગસરામાં આદરણીય દેવચંદભાઈ સાવલિયા કામ કરે એમણે અમને ત્યાં આમંત્રીત કર્યા આ બધાને ઓળખાણના આધારો અપાવવા. ને પછી તો મતદારકાર્ડ, આધાર, જાતિ દાખલા. જનઘનમાં ખાતા, રેશનકાર્ડ ને છેલ્લે રહેવા પ્લોટ ફળવાયા. હવે એમના ઘરો બાંધવાનું શરૃ કરીશું.
સરકારે ખુબ લાગણી રાખી એમને પ્લોટ ફાળવ્યા. મકાન બાંધવા પણ પ્રત્યેક પરિવારને સાડા ત્રણ લાખ રૃપિયા આપશે. એ માટે આદરણીય મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી એ ઘણી મદદ કરી. બાંધકામમાં ખુટતા VSSM સાથે સંકળાયેલા અમારા આદરણીય કિશોરભાઈ પટેલ પ્રિય કુશલભાઈની સ્મૃતિમાં આપશે. આમ સરકાર અને સંસ્થાના પ્રયાસથી આ બધા પરિવારો વગડામાંથી વહાલપની વસાહતમાં જશે.
104 પરિવારોને ફળવાયેલા પ્લોટ પર ભૂમીપૂજન તા. 10 માર્ચ 2024ના રોજ થયું. આદરણીય કૌશિકભાઈ એકદમ સંવેદનશીલ વ્યક્તિ. એ ખાસ ઉપસ્થિત રહ્યા ને આખા અમરેલીમાં આવા ઘરવિહોણા જેટલા પણ પરિવારો છે તેમની વિગત આપવા કહ્યું જેથી તેમને પણ ઘર આપી શકાય.
ધારાસભ્ય શ્રી જે.વી.કાકડિયા પણ એવા જ લાગણીવાળા એમણે તેમજ નગરપાલિકાના પ્રમુખ શ્રી જ્યોત્સનાબહેને અડધી રાતે જરૃર પડે સાથે રહીશુંનું કહ્યું.
પ્રાંત કલેક્ટર શ્રી કમલેશ નંદા એકદમ ઋજુ હૃદયના અને વર્ષોથી અમારા કાર્યમાં મદદ કરે એ પણ ખાસ હાજર રહ્યા ને ભણતર કેમ જરૃરી એની વાત પરિવારોને કરી. બગસરા મામલતદાર શ્રી, ચીફઓફીસર વગેરે પદાધિકારીઓ ખાસ આ પરિવારોના હરખમાં સામેલ થયા…
અમારા કાર્યકર રમેશભાઈએ વર્ષોથી આ પરિવારોના ઘર થાય એનું સમણું સેવેલું એ સાકાર થયું. એમની મહેનત આ આખા કામમાં ખુબ… એમના જેવા કાર્યકરો અમારી સાથે છે એનો સવિશેષ આનંદ છે.. વસાહતના આગેવાન જેકીભાઈ અને અન્યો પણ આ આખા કામમાં ખડે પગે.
સવારથી સૌ ભૂમીપૂજનની તૈયારી કરી રહ્યા હતા. સૌએ નવા કપડાં પહેર્યા. ગરબા રમ્યા. રંગોળી કરી ને ભૂમીપૂજનનો કાર્યક્રમ જમણવાર કરી સંપન્ન કર્યો.
આ કાર્યમાં VSSM ને મદદ કરનાર સૌનો આભાર. ગામે ગામ ઘરવિહોણા તમામ પરિવારોને ઘર મળે તેવી શુભભાવના…

Some connections are arranged by God.
My relations with Hakimbha who stays with his family In the village of Bhadwana in Surendranagar District are similar.
They are called “Dafers”. Their reputation is not good. In 2005 when I used to search for this community, I was warned not to go amongst them. However this “Dafer” community has given me lots of love.
Hakimbha calls me up at least 3 times a week. He has been doing this for the last 17 years. Our conversation normally goes like this :

Benba when will our work get done?
Wait for some more time. All good will happen
But now even hands and legs have stopped working
True Bha. it is in my destiny to do your work. I am working on it. We have already got the plots allotted. Very soon the houses will also be built.
Please take care of us. We have no one except you.
I am there, do not worry Bha.
This talk between us has been going on since long time.. Often the police department also comes into play. If police come to inquire then they would request me to see that police do not harm them.
Sometimes they are asked whether they still do the stealing and theft. They would reply that ” We do not indulge in such things. We are answerable to Benba. We will not do anything that will hurt Benba”
The families of “Dafer” community now have confidence that I am with them. & therefore they have started to invite others in marriage functions and even during deaths. Earlier they used to avoid getting together. Our relationship is very pious. They would not lie in my presence. They would also do what I tell them to do.
They got plots in Bhadvana. To construct the house, the government will give Rs 1.20 lakhs. However, that is not enough to construct the house. They have no resources to help themselves. With authority they would tell me to help in the construction of homes. They would also say that build proper houses. People should not laugh seeing them. They say this with full ownership.
They love me like their daughter. All ladies of the community bless me. Whenever I sit with Hakimba, he would say many times that ” Allah rasool will do good to you.”
Relations like this are defined by nature. In the eyes of society this community is very dangerous. But they bestow lots of love on me. Ummarbhai, Hamirbhai, Allahrakha are like my own. When I meet them I feel that I am the richest person on this planet.

સુરેન્દ્રનગરના ભડવાણામાં રહેતા હકીમભા અને એમના પરિવાર સાથે પણ એવો જ સંબંધ.
ડફેરનો ઈતિહાસ કાંઈ ઉજળો નહીં. 2005માં જ્યારે આ સમુદાયને શોધતી ત્યારે લોકો એમની વચ્ચે ન જવાયની વાતો કરતા.
પણ મને આ સમુદાયે ખુબ પ્રેમ આપ્યો..
હકીમભાનો અઠવાડિયામાં ત્રણેક વખત ફોન આવે. એ પણ આજ કાલથી નહીં 17 વર્ષથી. એમની અને મારી વચ્ચે એક જ પ્રકારનો ડાયલોગ થાય…

સાચુ ભા,પણ મારા ભાગમાં તમારા માટે પ્રયત્ન કરવાનું.. ને એ પ્રયત્નો હું કરુ..પ્લોટ એ પ્રયત્નોથી મળ્યા. તે હવે ઘરેય થશે..
એ તમે ધ્યાન દેજો.. તમારા સિવાય અમારુ કોઈ નથી.

અમારી વચ્ચે આ વાતો વર્ષોથી થાય. આમાં ક્યાંક પોલીસની માથાકૂટ આવે તો.
પોલીસ હમણાં પુછવા આવી તી બેન બા.. તે તમે ધ્યાન દેજો.. આવી એક લીટીનો ઉમેરો થાય..
મારી સાથે આવનાર પુછે કે હવે લૂંટ કે ચોરી એવું કાંઈ કરો..
તો કહે, એવું બધુ કાંઈ નો કરીએ.. કરીએ તો બેનબાને જવાબ હું દઈએ… એમને નીચાજોણું થાય એવું અમે કાંઈ નો કરીએ..
પણ આ બધા પરિવારોને અમે એમની સાથે છીએ નો ભરોષો એટલે હવે લગ્નોમાં મહેમાનો બોલાવતા થયા. મરણમાં પણ સગા વહાલને બોલાવે.. એક સમય હતો કે લગ્ન કે મરણ જેવા પ્રસંગે ભેગા થવાનું એ ટાળતા. પણ હવે એ નિર્ભય થયા..
અમારી વચ્ચેનો સંબંધ પવિત્ર. મારી સામે એ ખોટુ ન બોલે.. ને કહુ એ વાત માને પણ ખરા..
ભડવાણામાં એમને પ્લોટ મળ્યા. ઘર બાંધવા સરકાર 1.20 લાખની મદદ કરશે પણ આમાં ઘર ન થાય. એમની સ્થિતિ તો એક સાંધો ત્યાં તેર તુટે એવી. એટલે હકથી બેન બા ઘર તમારે કરવાના થાશે.. એવું એમને મળુ એટલે એ કહે..
હું હા પાડુ એટલે કે, હરખા કરજો હો.. લોકો દાંત કાઢે એવા નો થાય એ જોજો…
આવું કહે ત્યારે થાય કેવો અધિકાર ભાવ છે… આ બધાને…
એમની દીકરી હોવું એવું હેત વર્ષાવે. મળુ ત્યારે એમના ઘરના ને વસાહતા અન્ય બહેનો દુઃખણા લે.. હકીમભા પાસે જેટલી વાર બેઠી હોવું એટલી વારમાં કોણ જાણે કેટલી વાર અલ્લા રસુલ તમારુ ભલુ કરે એવું બોલે…
કેટલાક સંબંધ કુદરત નક્કી કરે.. અમારો સંબંધ પણ એવો જ… બાકી સમાજની નજરે આ બધા બહુ માથાભારે ગણાય. પણ મારા માટે તો આ બધા લખલૂટ પ્રેમ વર્ષાવે.. અમારા ઉમરભાઈ, હમીરભા, અલ્લારખા કેટલાય છે જે પોતિકા છે…
આ બધાને મળુ ત્યારે થાય મારુ બેંક બેલેન્સ બહુ મોટુ છે…
