My girls arrived into the office with Vermillion/Kumkum, chocolates and rakhi and I couldn’t stop myself from asking this question.
Since I like Melody chocolates, they ensured they bring heaps of that too…

“We want to change the tradition…” replied one.
“Because you protect us, you are our guardian…”said another.
“You are the eldest in our family… so first Rakhi on your wrist, then the brothers and others.”
Our daughters are growing wise with each passing year.
Surekha, was a so little when she came with us to stay in the hostel. She studies in 3rd year of college now. Initially, it was hard to make her talk and now it is hard to keep her quite. She is the Chief Minister of our hostel. Jaya is the Deputy Minister. Together with their cabinet they manage the hostel really well.
Love you my Bacchhas…. I pray to almighty for your success and happiness. May you grow and work  to have a remarkable impact on this world.

For the first time today my writs is full with so many Rakhis. As I have always said, my work with these communities has given me this unique opportunity to mother so many such wonderful children. That is us in the picture, me with wrist full of   Rakhis and these lovely daughters who see me as their protector.  
I am not sure if I can be called that… but, yes I love them immensely.
‘અરે મને રાખડી કેમ બાંધવાની?’
મારી ઓફીસમાં કંકુ, ચોકલેટ અને રાખડી લઈને પ્રવેશેલી અમારી દીકરીઓને મેં પુછ્યું, જવાબમાં એકે કહ્યું,
‘અમારે રિવાજ બદલવો છે…’ બીજીએ,

‘તમે અમારા રક્ષક છો..’ તો ત્રીજીએ,
‘ઘરના સૌથી મોટા છો..તો તમને પહેલાં રાખડી પછી ભાઈ કે બીજા ને….’
સમજદાર થઈ ગઈ છે દીકરીઓ..
હોસ્ટેલમાં જયા ટબુડા જેવડી હતી ત્યારે ભણવા આવેલી. આજે કોલેજના ત્રીજા વર્ષમાં છે.. 
સુરેખાને દસ વાર બોલાવીએ ત્યારે બોલતી આજે ચપ ચપ જવા આપે છે અને અમારી હોસ્ટેલની મુખ્ય પ્રધાન છે. જયા ઉપપ્રધાન છે..
બંને હોસ્ટેલનું વ્યવસ્થાપન તેમના મંત્રીઓ સાથે સરસ સંભાળે છે..
મને MELODYચોકલેટ બહુ ભાવે તો ખાસ યાદ કરીને MELODY ચોકલેટ આ બધી માતાજીઓ લઈ આવી…
બધી દીકરીઓ મોટી અને સાથે સમજદાર થઈ રહી છે..
Love you Bachcha… 
સુખી થાવ અને દુનિયામાં ડંકો વગાડી દોના આશિર્વાદ….
આજે જિંદગીમાં પહેલીવાર આટલી બધી રાખડી હાથ પર બંધાઈ છે.. એટલે ફોટો તો બનતા હૈ… સાથે મીઠી દીકરીઓ પણ જેમણે મને એમની રક્ષક માની છે…
છું કે નહીં એ ખબર નહીં…. પણ આ દીકરીઓ પર હેત ઘણું છે…

Urgently needed… Officers like Shri K. Rajesh

 There is a poem in Gujarati which goes like this …

‘Chone hu na kanak divri, kodiyu mati nu thai ujwalu koi gruh garib nu toy mare ghanu…”
The current living condition of Madari families
Loosely transliterated it means…
“I may not be a golden lamp, but it would be enough for me if I can lit up a house of a poor like a lamp of clay…”
Since my childhood I have been extremely fond of this poem. I am unaware of its origins,  but the message never fails to evoke a thought, “What if each individual lived like this lamp of clay. The world would be such a magical place to live…”
The current living condition of Madari families
The District Collector of Surendranagar, Shri K. Rajesh lives these lines. He has committed himself and his team to resolve the issues of the nomadic communities of  Surendranagar.  Recently, he personally  visited the Madari settlement of Thangadh, understood their living conditions and announced that they shall receive Antyoday ration cards and residential plots. And like a concerned member of the family he also  expressed his resentment towards all who have been addicted to tobacco etc.

Compassion and sensitivity aren’t the qualities one can borrow. They lie  deep within us. We are glad that officers like Shri K. Rajesh have never allowed their sensitivity to be overtaken by power and position, that they have never walked away from their line of duty, they have always performed their duties with great humility and integrity.
It is often said that the king gets to know about the status of his subjects only when he sees it for himself, he lives within them in disguise. This was true for Shri Rajesh too, who on witnessing the living conditions of the madari families instructed his officers to issue Antyoday ration card to all these families.
We are delighted to have Shri Rajesh as the head of Surendranagar. The files that have piled on for ages are sure to be dusted off.
Our gratitude and appreciation for the officer Shir K. Rajesh. We wish other officers draw inspiration from individual like Shri Rakesh.
May we be instrumental in changing the lives of thousands of poor.

‘છોને હું ના કનક દીવડી કોડિયું માટીનું થઈ
ઉજ્જવાલુ કોઈ ગૃહ ગરીબનું તોય મારે ઘણુંયે….’
આ પંકિત્ નાનપણથી ખુબ ગમે.. કોણે લખી છે એ ખ્યાલ નહીં પણ આ પંક્તિમાં લખ્યા પ્રમાણેનું જીવન સૌ જીવે તો દુનિયા કેવી રૃડી થઈ જાય એવું સતત થયા કરે….
સુરેન્દ્રનગર કલેક્ટર શ્રી કે. રાજેશ પણ આ પંક્તિને ચરીતાર્થ કરતું કાર્ય કરી રહ્યા છે.. સુરેન્દ્રનગરમાં રહેતી વિચરતી વિમુક્ત જાતિના તમામ પ્રશ્નોના ઉકેલ માટે તેઓ કટીબદ્ધ છે.
થાનગઢમાં આવેલી મદારી વસાહતમાં તેઓ પોતે પહોંચ્યા અને સૌની સ્થિતિ જોઈને રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ તેમજ સૌને અંત્યોદય કાર્ડ આપવાની જાહેરાત કરી. 
સાથે વ્યસન કરનાર લોકોને મીઠી ટકોર પણ કરી.
સંવેદનશીલતા કોઈ પાસેથી ઉધાર નથી લઈ શકાતી. માણસમાં એ પડી જ છે. પણ ક્યાંક એના ઉપર ધૂળ ચડી ગઈ હોય છે.. પણ કે. રાજેશન જેવા અધિકારીઓએ ક્યારેય તેમની સંવેદનશીલતા પર ઘૂળ ચડવા નથી દીધી જેનો રાજીપો છે…
રાજા દેશાટન માટે નીકળે તો એને પ્રજાની સાચી સ્થિતિ સમજાય…આ વાત પણ કલેક્ટર શ્રીના કિસ્સામાં સાચી ઠરી…
અમે તો મદારી પરિવારોને રહેવા પ્લોટ આપવાની જ વાત કરેલી પણ કલેક્ટર શ્રીએ આ પરિવારોની હાલત જોઈને તમામને અંત્યોદય રેશનકાર્ડ આપવા માટે પણ પૂરવઠા અધિકારીને સૂચના આપી..

વર્ષોથી સુરેન્દ્નનગરમાં કચેરીમાં રવડતી ફાઈલો પર કામ થવાનું એ નક્કી છે.. 
શ્રી કે.રાજેશ પ્રત્યે આદરભાવ… અને આભાર…
હજારો વંચિતોના જીવનમાં ઊજાસ પાથરવામાં કુદરત નિમિત્ત બનાવે તેવી પ્રાર્થના…. 
અમારો કાર્યકર હર્ષદ સતત વિચરતી જાતિઓની આ વસાહતોમાં થાક્યા વગર લાગ્યો રહ્યો છે. તેની મહેનતનું આ પરિણામ છે…

Mittal Patel discusses WaterManagement with villagers

The Sardar Sarovar Dam opened 25 gates this year….signalling it was full to its brim.

In the past whenever the dam overflowed a thought always crossed  my mind, “what if these waters were taken to the parched and thirsty lands of North Gujarat, Saurashtra, Kutchh!!”

Finally the  Chief Minister of Gujarat made an announcement in this regard. The Sujalam Sufalam Canal, Dantiwada Dam and the lakes that had the pipeline for Narmada waters have been filled up with waters from the majestic Narmada.

In Banaskantha people rejoiced like never before. The waters from Narmada as well as the rains showed mercy this year. Deep inside I was fearing the worst. But the rain gods finally gave in.
In the past three years VSSM has facilitated and supported deepening of 87 lakes in Banaskantha.

This year the rains helped bring water to few lakes. One of which is in Suigaum’s Katav village. The picture shared here is only for your reference so it the on the ongoing water sensitization meeting.  The video is of Adhgaum shared by Sureshbhai  this morning. Apart from the rainwater, Narmada waters have also reached the lake.

The rains have brought the much needed cheer in the air. And the Narmada waters filling up the lakes doubled the joy.

Naran, Chirag and Bhagwan can breathe at peace  atlast. It was their efforts and hard work that have  resulted into such massive change in the community’s mindset towards water.

જ્યારે પણ ડેમ ઓવરફ્લો થતો ત્યારે એક વિચાર આવતો આ બધા પાણીને ઉત્તર ગુજરાત, સૌરાષ્ટ્ર અને કચ્છના નપાણિયા વિસ્તારમાં લઈ જવાનું થાય તો કેવું…
આખરે મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રીએ આ અંગે જાહેરાત કરી..
સુજલામ સુફલામ કેનાલ, દાંતીવાડા ડેમ ઉપરાંત જે તળાવોમાં નર્મદા કેનાલની પાઈપ નાંખી હતી તે ભરવાનું સરકારે શરૃ કર્યું….

બનાસકાંઠો તો રાજી રાજી…
જો કે વરસાદે પણ લાજ રાખી.. બાકી મનમાં દુકાળ તો નહીં પડે એવો ભય પણ હતો…

ત્યાં મેધરાજા રીઝ્યા…
બનાસકાંઠામાં અમે છેલ્લા ત્રણ વર્ષમાં 87 તળાવો ખોદ્યા..

જેમાંથી આ વરસાદમાં થોડા ભરાયા જેમાંનું સૂઈગામના કટાવનું એક હતું.. આ કટાવનું તળાવ અમે ખોદ્યું તે પહેલાંની સ્થિતિ ફોટોમાં સમજાય તે ખાતર મુકી છે.
બાકી અધગામનો વિડીયો આજે સવારે સુરેશભાઈએ મોકલાવ્યો.
વરસાદી પાણી ઉપરાંત સરકારે કેનાલથી આ તળાવને ભર્યું..

તળાવ ખોદાવતા પહેલાં ગામલોકો સાથે તળાવ કેમ ખોદાવવું તે સંદર્ભે અમે બેઠકો કરીએ આવી બેઠક અધગામમાં કરી તેનો ફોટો પણ સમજવા ખાતર મુક્યો ..

New horizons unfold for 18 children of VSSM….

Nomadic families came to see off their children as they
began a chapter of their lives

The relationship I share with the nomadic and de-notified families is beyond comprehension. Our ties are beyond blood relations, these are the families who are my own. I believe in entire Universe being a  family,  but these children of lesser God needed more care and attention. We chose to love and care for them when others turned a blind eye to their existence.

It also gave us an unique opportunity to mother thousands of children of these humble communities.
Dimpleben and Valjibhai went to place the nomadic
children at Ganpat University
15 children of our hostels , 13 boys and 2 girls who passed grade 10 this year i.e.  2019 have secured admissions in the Engineering  Diploma program offered at Ganapat University.  
3 boys secured admissions  in a special diploma program offered by Maruti Suzuki. The company has also guaranteed well paid jobs to these youth once they finish their studying.
Our Dimpleben works relentlessly  to ensure these kids study hard and well. She perseveres to find suitable courses and colleges for them. It is her efforts that  are bringing such good placements, placing  these kids at the threshold of engineering studies. These placements have spread cheer amongst the hostel team too. Our Valji, Bijal, Vijay, Kiran, Bharat all are delighted with  these placements. They have worked really hard to make sure these kids study well, remain focused and do not drop out of schools. It is because of them they had such encouraging admissions in technical courses. It should be noted that our children  are first generation school goers.
KSFR’s Udaybhai assisted in getting these children admissions to Ganapat University. The University has offered to take care of their loadging and boarding expenses.
We are grateful to KSFR and Ganapat  University for making this possible. It is very well wishing individuals like these that make this world a better place.  I am grateful that more and more individuals  are being part of our journey of spreading the light of knowledge in

લોહીની સગાઈ નથી..
છતાં એક જુદા નાતે કેટલાય પરિવારો અમારા બની ગયા.
આમ તો સમગ્ર વિશ્વને પરિવાર માનીએ પણ કેટલાક એવા છે જેની ચિંતા થોડી વધારે કરવાની જરૃર હતી. જેને કુદરતનું વહાલ પણ જરા ઓછુ મળ્યું હતું તેવા પરિવારોને વહાલ કરવાનું અમે સ્વીકાર્યું..
આ પરિવારોના બાળકોએ અમને માતૃત્વનો જુદો અધિકાર પણ આપ્યો.
અમારી હોસ્ટેલમાં ભણતા અને વર્ષ 2019માં જેમણે દસમુ ધોરણ પાસ કર્યું તેવા 13 દીકરા અને 2 દીકરીઓને ગણપત યુનિવર્સીટીમાં ડીપ્લોમા એન્જીન્યરીંગમાં પ્રવેશ મળ્યો.

3 છોકરાંઓને મારૃતી સુઝીકી દ્વારા ચાલતા સ્પે. ડીપ્લોમાં કોર્સમાં પ્રવેશ મળ્યો. આ ત્રણે છોકરાંઓનું ભણવાનું પતશે કે તુરત તેમને મારુતી કંપનીમાં જ નોકરી મળશે. સો ટકા જોબ ગેરન્ટી અને એ પણ સારા પગાર સાથે આપવાનું પણ કંપની કરશે.
અમારા ડીમ્પલબેન આ બાળકો ભણે અને તેઓ સારુ કમાતા થાય તે માટે સતત પ્રયત્ન કરે અને તેમના પ્રયત્નોથી જ આ બાળકો એન્જીન્યરીંગ ભણવાનું કરશે.
હોસ્ટેલમાં આ બાળકોને સાચવાનું કરતા વાલજી, બીજોલ, વિજય, કીરણ, ભરત સૌ પણ રાજી. આ દોસ્તોના પ્રયત્નોથી ભણતા બાળકોની આ પહેલી બેચ ટેકનીકલ કોર્સમાં પ્રવેશ મેળવી શકી છે.
કે.એસ.એફ.આર. ના શ્રી ઉદયભાઈએ આ બાળકોને ગણપત યુનિ.માં પ્રવેશ અપાવવામાં મદદ કરી. યુનિવર્સીટીએ પણ દરેક બાળકની રહેવા, જમાવાની વ્યવસ્થા કરવાનું પોતાના શીરે ઉપાડ્યું.
KSFR અને ગણપત યુનિ.ના અમે આભારી છીએ.. આપ જેવા શ્રેષ્ઠીઓની મદદથી જ આ બધુ શક્ય બને છે…
પણ જ્યોત સે જ્યોત જલે એમ સૌ શિક્ષણરૃપી આ જ્યોતમાં જોડાઈ રહ્યા છે જેનો આનંદ સાથે આભાર વ્યક્ત કરી રહી છું…
ગણપત યુનિ.માં બાળકોને મૂકવા માટે ડિમ્પલબેન, વાલજીભાઈ ગયા. સાથે બાળકોના વાલીઓ પણ આવ્યા. 
કોલેજ જોઈને વાલીઓએ કહ્યું, ‘અમે ક્યારેય વિચાર્યું નહોતું કે અમારા બાળકો આવી કોલેજમાં ભણી શકે.’

The eager wait for the rains finally comes to an end….

In Banaskantha’s Vanva Rampura we deepened 5 lakes of which 3  now have water in it. Respected Shri. Bhanuben Shah from Mumbai donated Rs. 25 lakhs to deepen lakes in one village. There was a  small contribution from the government too. As a result of this massive  contribution we could undertake the deepening of all the 5 lakes in Rampura.

During our primary meetings to engage with the community and leadership of Rampura many had shared, “we don’t remember when our lakes were last deepened or cleaned!!” Whereas some shared it was during the last great famine Gujarat had witnessed that the lake cleaning works were carried out.

We do aren’t aware of the period of this great  famine they are talking about. But we are grateful that the lakes are now filled with waters. Hope the rain Gods continue to shower their blessings and fill up all the 5 lakes.

The Sarpanch and community of Rampura exhibited great understanding and support. VSSM’s Naran and Chirag remained at it and it is their hard work that is visible here.

My three very dear elders Nanditaben, Bhanuben and Rashminbhai… dear Nanditaben showed us the path, Bhanuben joined hands and respected Rashminbhai  opened our eyes and made us take up this immensely important task of water conservation. My regards and gratitude for your continued support and encouragement.
આવ રે વરસાદ, ઘેબરીઓ પરસાદ
ઊની ઊની રોટલી ને કારેલાનું શાક,
ગાઈને મેધાની રાહ જોતા’તે આવ્યો ખરો..
બનાસકાંઠાના વાવના રામપુરામાં પાંચ તળાવો અમે ખોદ્યા. જેમાંથી ત્રણ તળાવો ભરાયા જે ફોટોમાં જોઈ શકાય છે.
મુંબઈના આદરણીય શ્રી ભાનુબહેન શાહે એક ગામમાં તળાવો ઊંડા કરવા 25 લાખની મદદ કરી. ઉપરાંત સરકારે પણ નાની મદદ કરી. 
જેના લીધે રામપુરામાં આ કામ થઈ શક્યું.
ગામના લોકો સાથે તળાવ ઊંડા કરવા બાબતે બેઠક થઈ ત્યારે એમણે કહેલું, ‘અમારા ગામનું તળાવ ક્યારે ઊંડું થયું હતું તે અમને યાદ નથી’ તો કોઈએ કહ્યું, ‘પસીસો કાળ પડ્યો ત્યારે તળાવ ગળાયું હતું.’
ખેર પસીસો કાળ ક્યારે પડ્યો એનો ખ્યાલ નથી. પણ હાલ આનંદ તળાવ ગળાયા પછી એમાં ભરાયેલા પાણીનો છે.
મેઘ રાજાને પાંચે તળાવ છલકાવી દેવા પ્રાર્થના…
રામપુરાના લોકો તેમજ સરપંચનો પણ આ કાર્યમાં અદભૂત સહયોગ મળ્યો…
કાર્યકર નારણ અને ચીરાગની જેહમત આ કામમાં સખત રહી…
પ્રિય નંદીતાબહેને આંગળી ચીંધી ભાનુબહેનને આ કાર્યમાં જોડ્યા તો આદરણીય રશ્મીનભાઈએ તળાવો ગળાય એ માટે કામ કરવા અમને ઢંઢોળ્યા..
ત્રણેય મારા વહાલા પ્રિયજન.. આપ ત્રણે પ્રત્યે આદરભાવ વ્યક્ત કરુ છું…

Regulation mentioning the pre-requisites to availing interest free loan from VSSM…

The preconditions to avail interest free loan from Mittal Patel with the nomadic women who decided
to go ahead  for the tests 
While the last condition has been in effect since the launch of the interest free loan program, the first two preconditions were  recently introduced. And they have sent a shock wave amidst the potential applicants.  Planting the trees isn’t that big an issue for them however, what is objectionable to these communities is the mandatory screening for cancer.

“The ones who took the loan before us never had to fulfil this requirement, so why us?? Why did they get the loanhttps://www.vssmindia.org/livelihood/?? Are the arguments coming forward from the community.
Breast cancer is the second most fatal form of cancer amongst women. According to Vikaspedia, an online information guide by GOI, 1 in every 9 women carries the risk of breast cancer. In India 8 women die of cervical cancer every hour.

Instances of both these forms of cancer are rapidly rising. Yes,  the rural  women are ignorant and negligent towards these or forms of cancer. Women never prioritise their health. Hence, it is important their husbands encourage them to go for these screenings that help  for early detection.
It is a huge challenge to convince these uneducated and ignorant communities,  but it is not just  them even the educated urban women have limitations when it comes to taking preventive measures.


Polio Foundation’s Dr. Bharat Bhagat has agreed to screen 10 women every week at Rs. 100 per person. If the numbers rise above 10,  VSSM will support the cost. Although we  have requested Dr. Bhagat to extend more assistance. Every Saturday,  we bring women to the hospital.  Last Saturday, 4 women walked out of the hospital.

We fail to understand what is it they fear!!

Some women were quite ok today, but the fear was obvious.  To ease them out even the team members and I got ourselves tested along with them.
We have decided to remain firm on the matter. The nomads are our family and we want to ensure they  take care of their health. They need to understand it is important.

(2)બે ઝાડ ફરજિયાત ઊગાડવા પડશે,
(3)જો કોઈ વ્યસન હશે તો એ છોડવું પડશે વગેરે જેવી.. છ શરતો સંસ્થામાંથી વગર વ્યાજે લોન લેવાની ઈચ્છા રાખનાર માન્ય કરે તો તેને લોન મળશે..

જેમની સાથે કામ કરીએ એ પરિવારોમાં આ નિયમોથી ખળભળાટ થઈ ગયો છે.
જો કે બીજા નિયમોમાં બહુ વાંધો નથી. એ પળાશે પણ…
પણ મુખ્ય વાંધો બહેનોના શરીરના ચેકએપનો છે..
‘પહેલાં જેમને લોન આપી એમને તો તમે એમ જ લોન આપી હતી ને? તો અમારામાં જ આ નિયમ કેમ કર્યા?’ વગેરે જેવી કેટલી દલીલો…
કેન્સરના કારણે જેટલી મહિલાઓના મૃત્યુ થાય છે એમાં બીજા ક્રમે સ્તન કેન્સર આવે છે. બહેનોના જીવનકાળમાં 9ની સામે 1 કિસ્સામાં સ્તન કેન્સરનું જોખમ રહેલું છે એવું વીકાસપીડિયાની સાઈટ પરથી જાણ્યું છે.
જ્યારે ભારતમાં દર કલાલે આઠ મહિલાઓ સર્વાઈલ કેન્સરના લીધે મૃત્યુ પામે છે તેવો અંદાજ છે.
બહુ જોખમી છે આ બંન્ને કેન્સર..
ઘરની સ્ત્રીઓ તૈયાર નથી પણ તેને તૈયાર કરવાનું ઘરના પુરુષો પણ કરતા નથી.
જોકે કહેવાતા ભદ્ર સમાજની બહેનો પણ પોતાના શરીરનું નિયમીત ચેકઅપ કરાવતી નથી તો #વિચરતી #વિમુક્ત જાતિઓમાં તો ક્યાંથી થવાનું.
બહુ મુશ્કેલ થઈ રહ્યું છે…
ડો. ભરત ભગત – #પોલીયો_ફાઉન્ડેશન એમણે દર અઠવાડિયે 100 રૃપિયામાં આ ટેસ્ટ દસ બહેનો સુધી કરી આપવાનું સ્વીકાર્યું છે.
10 ઉપરાંતની બહેનોની જોગવાઈ VSSM કરશે.
જો કે ભગત સાહેબને પણ આ માટે મદદ કરવા કહ્યું છે.
અમે દર શનિવારે બહેનોને હોસ્પીટલ લઈને જઈએ છીએ.
ગયા શનીવારે ચેકઅપ માટે ગયેલી બહેનોમાંથી ચાર બહેનો હોસ્પીટલમાંથી બહાર આવી ગઈ.
‘હું તો ઠીક છું, મારે કોઈ ચેકઅપની જરૃર નથી…’
શાનો ભય છે એ સમજાતું નથી…
ખેર વ્યવસાય માટે વગર વ્યાજે લોન જોઈએ છે તો આ કરવું પડશે…
મે અને મારા કાર્યકર બહેનોએ આ ટેસ્ટ કરાવ્યા. જેથી તેમનો ભય ભાંગે.
કેટલીક બહેનોમાં આજે થોડોક ભય ઓછો થયો છે..
છતાં બધા બહેનો ટેસ્ટ માટે તૈયાર નથી એ હકીકત પણ છે..
જો કે અમે કોઈ બાંધછોડ કરવાના નથી..
આ અમારા પરિવારો છે અને એમને આ બધુ શીખવું પડશે…

Meeting with PM Shri Narendra Modi…

On 19thJuly 2019, I had the opportunity to meet our Prime Minister Shri. Narendrabhai Modi. The primary objective was to discuss the issues of nomadic and de-notified communities and to express our gratitude for his involvement towards resolving the issues of the nomads.
The Government Welfare Board for the Nomadic, De-notified and Semi-nomadic communities has not started functioning as yet, I shared. He assured he will look up into the matter. I also thanked him for my appointment as a Board Member.
We also talked about finding long term solutions to the twice emerged situation of flash floods in Banaskantha. If you remember the region witnessed a never before calamity in 2015 and 2017 when the poor and marginalised lost everything they had. We requested for construction of canals in the region.
Both Maulik and I had paid visit to the PM. When he saw Maulik along he joked…
“She has turned you into a nomad too!!”
“If I want to wander, he too needs to follow path!!” I had replied.
I am grateful to PM Shri Narendrabhai Modi, Shri Bhupendra Yadav and Shri Bhagwandas Panchal – three of whom are instrumental in giving us hope and doing some concrete work for these communities.
Hope the work begins soon for these communities who have experienced centuries of neglect and apathy.

તા.19 જુલાઈ 2019ના રોજ આપણા વડાપ્રધાન શ્રી નરેન્દ્રભાઈ મોદીને મળવાનું થયું.
મુખ્ય આશય તો વિચરતી વિમુક્ત જાતિઓ જ હોય..
આ સિવાય તેમનો આભાર પણ માનવાનો હતો..
સરકારે જાહેર કરેલું વિચરતી વિમુક્ત તેમજ અર્ધવિચરતી જાતિઓ માટેનું કલ્યાણકારી બોર્ડ હજુ સુધી કાર્યાન્વીત નથી થયાની રજૂઆત કરી. રજૂઆત ઉપર તેમણે તુરત આ અંગે સૂચના આપશે એમ જણાવ્યું.
આ બોર્ડમાં મેમ્બર તરીકે નિમણૂક કરવા બદલ પ્રધાનમંત્રી શ્રીનો આભાર વ્યકત કર્યો.
સાથે બનાસકાંઠામાં 2015 અને 2017માં પુર આવ્યું. આ પુરમાં પાણી નીકાલની વ્યવસ્થાઓ યોગ્ય ના હોવાના કારણેય ઘણું નુકશાન થયું. આમ ચોમાસાના પાણીના નીકાલની વ્યવસ્થાઓ માટે કેનાલો બને તે માટેની રજૂઆત પણ તેમને કરી.
હું અને મૌલિક બંને તેમને મળ્યા. મૌલિકને જોઈને એમણે હળવી મજાક કરતા કહ્યું,
‘તે આનેય વિચરતો કરી દીધો?’
મે એમને કહ્યું, ‘મારે વિચરવું હોય તો એનેય કરવો પડે ને?’
સરકારના વિચરતી જાતિઓ માટે નક્કર કશુંક કરવાના પગલાંને આવકારુ છું.
આદરણીય પ્રધાનમંત્રી શ્રી નરેન્દ્રભાઈ મોદી, શ્રી ભુપેન્દ્ર યાદવ શ્રી ભગવાનદાસ પંચાલ આ ત્રણેય પ્રિયજનોનો આભાર વ્યક્ત કરુ છુ. તેમના થકી જ આ સમુદાય માટે નક્કર કશુંક થવા જઈ રહ્યું છે.
બસ હવે સરસ કામ થાય અને સદીઓથી તરછોડાયેલા રહેલા આ સમાજને ન્યાય મળે એ દિશામાં કામ થાય…
પ્રધાનમંત્રીને મળ્યાનો ફોટો નથી લીધો.. એટલે…
