When work gets Award, it becomes the occasion of happiness!
State Government along with Central government has respected my work with ‘Nari Shakti Award’, obviously I feel humbled with the recognition.
Initially those who had been asking the question, “who are the Nomadic Tribes?” are now aware about Nomadic Tribes. We are painstakingly trying since the year 2006 for this community, to get accepted by government and society. I would certainly say that by showing such a respect, everybody has accepted our family. Yes, there are problems but I am sure that it will also get solved. Everybody who supported me in this work has right for this recognition and respect. Their constant feelings and warmth as well as their trust in us has made this happened. 
I would also give credit to the people who are sensitive authorities in the government.
I bow down to the Nomadic Tribes and De-Notified Tribes who gave me chance to peep in to their lives, understood my feeling of being one among them, accepted, gave me chance to live with them and gave a hope that everything will be fine being with them. 
Many thanks to all my loving people… and to all my team whose support is very important to reach at this stage.

કામને કોઈ સન્માને એ અવસર આનંદનો.
ભારત સરકારની સાથે રાજ્ય સરકાર પણ સન્માને એ મજાનું. હરખ તો થાય જ.
વિચરતી જાતિ એટલે કોણ એવા શરૃઆતી પ્રશ્નો પુછનારને આજે ખ્યાલ છે વિચરતી એટલે કોણ. 2006થી આ સમુદાયને સરકાર અને સમાજ સ્વીકારે એ માટેની મથામણ અમે સૌ કરતા ને આવા સન્માનથી અમારા આ પરિવારને સૌએ સ્વીકાર્યો તેવું ચોક્કસ કહીશ. હા પ્રશ્નો છે પણ એય હલ થશે એની ખાત્રી છે.
આ સન્માનના હકદાર આ કાર્યમાં મદદરૃપ થનાર સૌ. તેમની સતત હૂંફ,લાગણી અને અમારામાં દાખવેલી શ્રધ્ધાથી આ થયું.
સરકારમાં બેઠેલા સંવેદનશીલ વ્યક્તિઓને પણ આનો શ્રેય આપવો ઘટે.
અને વિચરતી વિમુક્ત જાતિઓને નતમસ્તક વંદન એમણે એમના જીવનમાં ડોકિયું કરવાની તક આપી ને તેમનામાંના એક હોવાની લાગણીને સમજી એમની સાથે જીવવાની તક આપી ને એમની સાથે ઊભા રહી સારુ થશેની આશા જન્માવી.
આભાર સૌ પ્રિયજનોનો… ને મારી આખી ટીમનો જેમના ટેકાથી આ બધુ ઊભુ થયું છે.
મારી દીકરી કિઆરા ને મૌલિક તો ટીમનો અભીન્ન હીસ્સો એમણે જતો કરેલો એમના હિસ્સોનો સમય ને vssmનુ ટ્રસ્ટી મંડળ જેમણે મને મોકળાશ આપી. મારામાં વિશ્વાસ મુક્યો.. સો પ્રત્યે કૃતજ્ઞતા…

We plan to launch a new initiative. A beginning that is impossible without your support. Can we join hands?
The plan is to plant trees in your village, trees that are native to our land, trees that can become home to birds, trees under whose shade  children can live their childhood, trees that will provide shade for us to rest under the brazing sun and we need your support to begin this endeavour.
You must be thinking why am I discussing trees in the middle of a difficult summer!!
Yes it’s isn’t June yet, but we have begun planning for June. We all agree to  the fact that trees are life and life is impossible without trees. Trees bring rains, cools down the temperatures, stop desertification of earth yet, we have not cared for our trees, we took then for granted all these years. Just because they do not voice their pain we have chopped them off like never before. How selfish and ruthless are we??
We at VSSM  want to begin planning tree plantation with you for this monsoon. We would have preferred villages taking the entire responsibility of this plantation drive, but because as communities we are always against each other, divided rather than united we have decided to be part of this  campaign until you shed away your differences for larger good.
The plan is to assign the responsibility of caring and raising the trees to one individual who will water it, manure it, nurture it. It will be village’s responsibility to provide her/him remuneration by collectively raising the amount required. Each household will contribute Rs. 20 a month and balance difference will be borne by VSSM.
It will be an ongoing drive and we will be planting more trees every year for next 10 years. Whoever wishes to plant trees in memory of their forefathers  can do so and we will name the trees accordingly. The idea is to created woods and tree heaven. We will work with only those who want to commit to this cause and work collectively. The village that joins this initiative will have newly formed Tree-Temple committee which will be responsible for this entire pursuit. All those who have moved away from their villages can also be part of it and sponsor a tree, pledge for its protection by contributing towards the same.

આજે પાંચ જૂન નથી એ જાણુ છું. પણ પાંચમી જૂનનું આયોજન અત્યારથી કરવું છે..
ઝાડ વગર જીવન અશક્ય છે અને ઝાડ વગરની ધરતી રણ જેવી લાગે.
ઝાડ વરસાદ તો લાવે સાથે વાતાવરણ ઠંડુ રાખે.. છતાં આપણે એનું જતન ના કરીએ..
કેવા સ્વાર્થી…
તમારા ગામમાં આ ચોમાસે ઝાડ વાવવાનું આયોજન તમારી સાથેની ભાગીદારીથી કરીએ.
આમ તો તમે એટલે કે ગામ જ જવાબદારી લે એ ઉત્તમ પણ ગામમાં સ્વાર્થ ઘણો છે.. સ્વાર્થ મુક્ત થાવ તો રાજી. પણ એ થાય ત્યાં સુધી….
ઝાડ વાવવા તથા તેની માવજત કરવા એક માણસ રાખીશું. જે ઝાડનું ધ્યાન રાખશે. ઝાડ ફરતે વાડોલિયા કરવાથી લઈને ઝાડને પાણી આપવાનું, તેમાં ખાતર નાખવાનું કરશે.
આ માણસને પગાર ચૂકવવામાં ગામ ભાગીદારી કરશે. ગામ દર મહિને 20 રૃપિયા ઘર દીઠ ઉઘરાવશે અને બાકીના પૈસા સંસ્થા પગાર પેટે ઝાડની માવજત કરનારને આપશે.
દર વર્ષે ગામમાં ચોક્કસ સંખ્યામાં ઝાડ વાવીશું. આ ક્રમ દસ વર્ષ સુધી તો ચાલુ રાખીશું જ.
જે વ્યક્તિ પોતાના દાદા પરદાદાના નામે ઝાડ વાવવાનું કરાવવા ઈચ્છે તેમને એ ઝાડનું નામ પણ આપીશું.
આ યોજનાથી જે ગામ પોતાના ગામને નંદનવન કરવા તૈયાર થાય અમે તેમની સાથે કામ કરવાનું કરીશું.
આ કાર્યક્રમમાં જે ગામ જોડાશે તે ગામમાં વૃક્ષમંદિરની એક કમીટી બનશે. જે આ કામનો વહીવટ તેમજ દેખરેખ રાખવાનું સ્વયંમ કરશે.
ગામ બહાર રહેતા પણ જેમને વતન માટે અને સૌથી અગત્યનું ઘરતી માતા પ્રત્યે પ્રેમ છે એ લોકો પણ પોતાના ગામમાં ઝાડ વાવવાના આ કામને પ્રોત્સાહન આપી આર્થિક સહયોગ આપી શકે.

I want to earn enough so that I can donate Rs. 1 lakh to VSSM says Chatur Vansfoda

Chatur Vansfoda ,his wife and their day at work…
He might be  christened Chatur (clever, shrewd, tactful), but he is humble to the core. Hardly 28, Chatur is wise  beyond his age. His daily deeds will  make you assume that his goal in life is to serve and help others.
Chatur has had a very difficult childhood. His father was under heavy debt. After the elder brother married and setup a separate house the responsibility to paying off his father’s debt fell on his shoulders. Chatur and his wife are kind of people who  would die for the family.
VSSM provided him with a loan to buy a Chakda.
Chatur belongs to Vansfoda community, the basketmakers of the yore. Chatur never acquired  the skills to basket making hence,  it was not the profession he was vying for. Nonetheless, he began selling plasticware on  his Chakda. His wife too contributed by selling them in vicinity while Chatur set out for di

stant regions. The couple put in immense amount of hard work but the amount of debt just did not reduce. The daily amount he needed to repay his father’s debt was Rs. 1200. He needed more money to keep paying that amount and stop it from escalating.

The organisation had no doubt on Chatur’s integrity and intentions, it was 3 other individuals from Vansfoda community who intentionally defaulted VSSM’s loan that was giving the entire community a bad name. In fact,  Chatur and his brother Pratap made all efforts to convince the defaulters to pay off the loans,  but that never happened.
‘VSSM is our guardian,  how can we cheat our parent? VSSM’s money should be considered pious and we cannot cheat with it,” says Chatur. What may astonish us all is that he solely managed to pay off the Rs. 65,000 of all the 3 individuals whose intentions went kaput,  so that the Vansfoda community did not earn a bad name on the books of the organisation. It is hard to believe humans like this exist anymore. And this is the reason I have tremendous respect for Chatur.
“When I failed to pay the instalments of the private money lenders they would come searching for me, all through the night I would hide in the bushes surrounding my village. I wanted to free myself from debt. I am a self-respecting man, but people do not understand  that poor too have self-respect. VSSM  helped me live, has made me what I am today.”
VSSM’s Kanhubhai and Chhayaben talked the moneylenders out of following and harassing Chatur and helped him gradually pay off his loan.
Chatur’s business is doing well, we gave him another loan and he pays monthly Rs. 15,000 to 20,000 as instalment. A causal remark that his habit of eating gutka doesn’t suit him made him give up that too.
“I want to earn enough so that I can donate Rs. 1 lakh to VSSM,” he says. Well he already made a donation when he paid off someone else’s loans. And still to have such desire goes on to say how large hearted and giving Chatur is.
Chatur, VSSM is what it is because of individuals like you. We pray to almighty that may you flourish in life, may all your dreams come true.

નામ એનું ચતુર પણ ખોટી ચતુરાઈ આવડે નહીં. 
બીજા માટે જાત ઘસી નાખનાર ચતુરની ઉંમર 28ની પણ નહીં હોય. છતાં સમજદારીમાં એ ભલાભલાને પાછળ પાડી દે એવો.
પરિવાર માટે મરી ફીટવાની ભાવના ચતુર અને એની ઘરવાળી બેયની.
ચતુર નાનો હતો એ વખતે ઘરમાં એકપછી એક તકલીફો આવીને એના બાપા દેવાના ડુંગરમાં દબાતા ગયા. મોટો દીકરો પ્રતાપ લગ્ન કરીને જુદો થયો. એ શક્ય મદદ કરે પણ બાપા જેની ભેગા રહ્યા એ ચતુરના માથે બાપાનું દેવું ફીંડવાની જવાબદારી આવી.
અમે એને લોન આપી અને એ છકડો લાવ્યો. 
વાંસફોડાનો પરંપરાગત ધંધો વાંસમાંથી સૂડલાંં, ટોપલાં બનાવવાનો. પણ ચતુરને એ આવડે નહીં અગર શીખીને કરવાનું વિચારેય તોય મોંધો પડે. એટલે એણે પ્લાસ્ટીકના તબકડાં છકડાંમાં લઈને વેચવાનું શરૃ કર્યું. એની ઘરવાળી પણ માથે તગારાં લઈને વેચવા જાય.
બેય માણસ ઘણી મહેનત કરે પણ દેવાનો ડુંગર ઘટવાની જગ્યાએ વધતો જ જાય. છતાં ચતુર હિંમત હાર્યા વગર પૂરી ઘગશથી કામ કરે જાય. 
ચતુરને ધંધો વધારવા પૈસાની જરૃર હતી. જેથી વ્યાજવા લીધેલા પૈસાનો દૈનિક હપ્તો રૃા.1200 સરળતાથી ચુકવી શકે.
ચતુરની નિષ્ઠા પર કોઈ સવાલ નહોતો પણ વાંસફોડા સમાજના ત્રણ લોકો એ VSSMમાંથી લોન લીધેલી પણ થોડા હપ્તા ભર્યા પછી એ લોકોએ હપ્તા ભરવાનું બંધ કર્યું. આમ કુલ 65,000 ભરવાના બાકી હતા. 
ચતુર અને એના ભાઈ પ્રતાપ બંનેએ લોન ના ભરનાર ત્રણ વ્યક્તિને ઘણા સમજાવ્યા પણ એ ત્રણની નિયતીમાં ખોટ આવી ગઈ.
ચતુર કહે, ‘સંસ્થાનો પૈસો તો પવિત્ર પૈસો અને સંસ્થાના ખાતામાં વાંસફોડા નાદારી નોંધાવે એ ના ચાલે.’
આ વાત કરનાર ચતુરે એકલા હાથે 65,000 વ્યાજવા લાવીને એ ત્રણે લોન પુરી કરી. જેથી વાંસફોડા સમાજ સંસ્થાના ચોપડે નાદાર ના દેખાય.
આવું કોઈ કરી શકે એ માનવામાં જ ના આવે એટલે ચતુર મારે મન સૌથી નોખો માણસ છે.
ગજબ સમજણ આ છોકરાંની. સંસ્થાને એ માઈ-બાપ માને. એ કહે, ‘સંસ્થાએ જ મને જીવાડ્યો છે. દેણદારોને હપ્તો ના દઈ શકાય તો એ લોકો ઘેર આવીને મારી જાતા. એમનાથી બચવા હું રાતના બાર એક વાગ્યા હુદી ઝાડી, ઝાંખરામાં પડ્યો રેતો. આ બધામાંથી છૂટવું હતું. ઈજ્જતદાર માણસ છું પણ નાના માણસની ઈજ્જત કોને સમજાય?’
સંસ્થાના કાર્યકર કનુભાઈ, છાયાબહેને ચતુરના લેણદારો સાથે વાત કરી ને એને ધીમે ધીમે દેણામાંથી મુક્ત કર્યો.
સાથે છકડા પર ધંધો સરસ ચાલે એનું આયોજન ચતુરે કર્યું. અમે એને બીજી લોન આપી. ચતુરે અવેરીને ધંધો કર્યો.
હાલ ચતુર માસીક સંસ્થાને 15,000 થી 20,000 લોનના હપ્તા પેટે ભરે છે.
તમાકુ ને પાન, બીડીના વ્યસન પણ હતા પણ એક વખત ટંકારા મળ્યોને આ ના શોભે એમ કહ્યું ને એણે એ મુક્યું ત્યારથી એણે આ બદીને હાથ નથી લગાડ્યો.
ચતુર જેવા માણસો સંસ્થા સાથે છે એટલે જ સંસ્થા ઊજળી છે. 
ચતુરની ઈચ્છા ઘણું કમાઈને સંસ્થાને એક વખત તો લાખ રૃપિયાનું અનુદાન આપવાની છે. 65,000 બીજાના ભરીને એ દાતા તો થઈ જ ગયો છે છતાં લાખ આપવાની ભાવના રાખવી એ કાંઈ નાની વાત નથી..
ચતુરની મનોકામના પૂર્ણ થાય એ ખૂબ મોટો અને દિલદાર માણસ બને એવી ઈશ્વરને પ્રાર્થના કરીએ…

VSSM Enables the Families from Vadia

VSSM enables the families from Vadia, now relocated to Palanapur acquire new Voter ID cards….

Since past few years VSSM has been educating and sensitising the families living in Vadia to give up their traditional profession and choose a different life. Heeding to the recommendation, a couple of years ago, 40 families from Vadia walked out of the village to escape its prevailing conditions. Not only did they walk out of the village, they walked away from the life they lived, they walked away from the attached stigma, they walked away from their identity… These families came and settled in Palanpur, a city near Vadia and did not wish to be know as natives of Vadia hence had applied for new identity proofs.

Almost a year ago these 40 families who had settled in and around Palanpur had made application to shift their Voter ID cards from Vadia to their current address. The applications for the same were filed with the Mamlatdar’s office. 62 adult members from these 40 families have received their Voter ID cards today. We are thankful to the Additional Collector Shri. Jagdishbhai Desai and Mamlatdar Shri. Geetaben Desai for their support, “it is because of your compassion towards these families that their names have been transferred to Palanpur voter list.”

વાડિયા છોડી પાલનપુરમાં આવીને રહેલા પરિવારોને vssmની મદદથી મતદારકાર્ડ મળ્યા
બનાસકાંઠાના વાડિયાગામમાં રહેતાં સરાણીયા પરિવારોમાંથી ૪૦ પરિવારો વાડિયાગામ છોડીને છેલ્લા કેટલાંય વખતથી પાલનપુરમાં આવીને રહ્યા છે. આ પરિવારો વાડિયાના ભૂતકાળમાંથી બહાર નીકળી પોતાની વાડિયાના વતની હોવાની છાપ જ ભુંસવા માંગે છે એમને વાડિયાનો કોઈ આધાર ખપતો નથી પોતાની દીકરીઓને વાડિયાગામની દીકરીને જે પરંપરાગત વ્યવસાયમાં ધકેલવામાં આવતી એ વ્યવસાયમાં ધકેલવી નથી.
પાલનપુર કે એની આસપાસના વિસ્તારમાં સ્થાઈ થવા ઇચ્છતા ૪૦ સરાણીયા પરિવારોના વાડિયાગામની મતદાર યાદીમાંથી નામ કાઢીને પાલનપુરમાં તબદીલ કરાવવા માટે ૧ વર્ષ પહેલાં મામલતદાર કચેરી પાલનપુરમાં અરજી કરી હતી. આજે ૪૦ પરિવારોના કુલ ૬૨ પુખ્તવયના લોકોને મતદારકાર્ડ મળ્યાં. જે માટે પ્રાંત કલેકટર શ્રી જગદીશભાઈ દેસાઈ અને મામલતદાર શ્રી ગીતાબેન દેસાઈના અમે આભારી છીએ. એમની આ પરિવારો માટેની સંવેદનાના કારણે જ આ પરિવારોના નામ પાલનપુરમાં તબદીલ થઈ શક્યા.

Irreplaceable Integrity and Love of Girls of VSSM Unnati Hostel

If you all are truly my girls find me Kinjaldidi’s watch within half-an-hour or else I will not eat my dinner!!!

This evening in the rush to go and pick up the girls from the school, Kinjal forgot her watch in the bathroom. Kinjal is a very polite and obedient child. Her mother Ramaben Chuvadiya Koli earns her living as a daily wage earning labour. The family doesn’t even have a pucca house to stay, “The house is bound to happen once my Kinjal finishes her education!!” she always says with a smile on her face. Ramaben saved some money from her daily earning to gift Kinjal a wrist watch worth Rs. 250. Don’t we all hold the gifts our parents give us as precious things ever? For Kinjal, this watch was the most precious thing ever, she would always wear it. Hell broke loose when Kinjal couldn’t trace her watch after she returned from picking up the girls from school.
I was in the office finishing my writing assignments. Kinjal came and stood behind my chair. This is a ritual. Whenever these girls have to tell or confess to  me they come and stand behind my chair so that we do not face each other, they speak up all they want to. While they are talking I am forbidden to turn around and look at them. I was waiting for Kinjal to speak up. Five minutes passed but there was no talking. Kinjal remained quiet. “What is the matter?” I inquired without turning my chair.

Kiara is always around the hostel, spending her time with the girls. She has made friends with a lot of girls her age hence she knew what was the matter. “Mumma, Kinjaldidi has lost her watch,” she let me know.

And Kinjal began crying profusely. “Didi, my mummy must have worked so hard to save money to buy me a watch. I consoled and assured her that we will find her watch.
At the hostel it was time for evening prayers. Everyone had gathered in the hall. I went and spoke about Kinjal’s watch, who had gifted it to her and quoted an instance when I had brought back a pen from a relative’s house without their knowledge and how I spent a sleepless night until I went there the next day and let them know that the pen was with me. They were so pleased with my honesty that I was gifted that pen.  They liked my truthfulness. Everyone likes honest people.

“I despise such behaviour from my girls. Hence, we need to find the watch within half-an-hour or else I will not eat my dinner. If you all love me find me the watch. If you fail to do that I will understand how much you all love me.” After the talk I returned to my office.

Within 10 minutes there was a sudden commotion in my office, all the girls rushed in  and gathered around my table (as seen in the picture), “Didi, didi we have found the watch.”
I was delighted to witness this honesty from my children.
The girl who found it was given an ovation. The rest were cautioned to not to point fingers at her.
I am glad these daughters of ours are learning to be honest humans first. I have decided to gift these 80 girls a wrist watch each for their honesty and truthfulness.
“Didi, now have your dinner. In fact eat twice as much today!” they joked.

How blessed I am to receive  such irreplaceable love and affection!! Thank you God for bestowing these opportunities!!
ગુજરાતીમાં રૂપાંતર
‘તમે બધી ખરેખર મારી દીકરીઓ હોવ તો કિંજલ દીદીનું ઘડિયાળ શોધી લાવો અને અડધા કલાકમાં ઘડિયાળ ના મળે તો હું જમીશ નહિ.’
આજે દીકરીઓને સ્કૂલેથી લેવા જવાની હડબડાટીમાં કિંજલે હાથમાં પહેરેલી ઘડિયાળ બાથરૂમની પાળ પર મુકી ને એનાથી એ લેવાની જ રહી ગઈ.
કિંજલ બહુ ડાહી દીકરી. રમાબહેન ચુંવાળીયા કોળીની એ દીકરી. માં મજૂરી કરે ને ઘરનું પુરૂ થાય. આમ તો રહેવા પાક્કું ઘર પણ નહિ. ‘પણ કાલ મારી દીકરીઓ ભણી લેશે પછી ઘર થાવાનું જ સે ને બેન’ એમ એ હસતા હસતા કહે. રમાબહેને મજૂરીમાંથી બચત કરીને કિંજલને અઢીસો રૂપિયાની ઘડિયાળ લઇ આપી.દરેક બાળકને માં બહુ વહાલી હોય એમ કિંજલનેય વહાલી એટલે માં એ લઇ દેધેલું ઘડિયાળ હંમેશા પહેરી રાખે.
પણ સ્કૂલેથી બાળકોને લઇને આવ્યા પછી કિંજલને ઘડિયાળ મળ્યું જ નહિ ને કિંજલ પર આભ તૂટ્યું. બહુ શોધ્યું પણ ન મળ્યું….
હું ઓફિસમાં લખી રહી હતી ત્યાં કિંજલ આવી ને મારી ખુરશી પાછળ ઉભી રહી ગઈ.
આ દીકરીઓ ને ક્યારેક કશું કહેવું હોય તો મારો ચહેરો દેખાય નહિ એમ ખુરશી પાછળ ઊભી રહી જાય ને પછી એમનું કહેવાનું કહેવા માંડે. આ દરમ્યાન મારાથી ખુરશી ફેરવાય નહિ. મને લાગ્યું કિંજલ ને પણ કઈં કહેવું હશે. પણ પાંચેક મિનિટ પછી પણ એનો અવાજ ના આવ્યો એટલે મેં એની તરફ જોયા વગર જ પૂછ્યું, શું થયું?
કીઆરાને હોસ્ટેલની એના લેવલની એની બહેનપણીઓના લીધે ખબર હોય. એ બોલી મમ્મા દીદીની ઘડિયાળ ખોવાઈ ગઈ.
હું કિંજલ બાજુ ફરી ત્યાં તો એ પોકે ને પોકે રડી… દીદી મારી મમ્મીએ કેટલી મહેનત કરીને મને ઘડિયાળ લઇ આપી હતી ને કોકે લઇ લીધી. બધે શોધ્યું પણ…. આગળ એ બોલી પણ ના શકી.. મેં એને શાંત પાડી અને ઘડિયાળ મળી જશે ચિંતા ના કર એવો હૈયાહરો આપ્યો.
પ્રાર્થનાનો સમય થયેલો બધા સભામાં બેઠેલા. મેં જઈને ઘડિયાળ કિંજલને કોણે આપેલું અને ક્યાંથી ખોવાયું બધી વાત કરી. સાથે નાનપણમાં મેં પણ એક વખત પૂછ્યા વગર અમારા એક સગાના ત્યાંથી પેન લઇ લીધાની વાત કરી. પણ પેન લીધા પછી ઊંઘ જ ના આવી કારણ પેન પૂછ્યા વગર લીધેલી એટલે. બીજા દિવસે જઈને મેં પેન લીધાનું એમને કહ્યું ને મને ઇનામમાં એ પેન મળી. સાચું બોલી એ એમને ગમ્યું. એમ બધાને ગમે.
મારી દીકરીઓ કોઈ ચીજ છુપાવીને લઈ લે એતો મને જરાય ના ગમે. એટલે ઘડિયાળ અડધા કલાકમાં ના મળે તો હું જમીશ નહિ. જો હું વહાલી હોવું તો ઘડિયાળ શોધીને આપો. બાકી ના મળે તો હું કેટલી વહાલી છું એ મને ખબર પડી જશે. આટલું કહીને હું હોસ્ટેલમાંથી મારી ઓફિસમાં આવી.
લગભગ 10 મિનિટમાં તો એક સાથે હોસ્ટેલની ટુલલ્ડ મારી ઓફિસમાં દીદી ઘડિયાળ મળી ગઈ…એ કહેતી મારી સામે આવી ગઈ.. (ફોટોમાં દેખાય છે એમ)
સાંભળી ને માંને પોતાના બાળકોની સારી વાતો સાંભળીને કેવો હરખ થાય એવો મને થયો.
જેણે ઘડિયાળ શોધ્યું એને ત્રણ તાળીનું માન આપ્યું ને કોઈ એની સામે જુદી રીતે આંગળી ના કરે એ પણ સમજાવ્યું…
ગમે છે આ દીકરીઓ ખરે જ સારી માણસ બનવાનું શીખી રહી છે.
જોકે આ સાચા બોલવાનું ઇનામ એંસીયે એંસીયે દીકરીઓને ઘડિયાળ આપવાનું નક્કી કર્યું છે.
ફોટોમાં ઘડિયાળ મળ્યા પછી મારી ઓફિસમાં આવેલી બધી વહાલુડીઓ… મારી પાછળ રડતી ને પછી હસ્તી ગુલાબી ટિશર્ટમાં કિંજલ…
ને હા દીદી હવે જામી લેજો હોને અને આજે બમણું જામજો…
ઓફિસમાં શોરબકોર થયો ને દશરથને ખ્યાલ આવ્યો. એણે આ ઘટના કેમેરામાં કંડારી… આભાર દશરથ.
શું કહું આ પ્રેમને.. આભાર આવા પ્રેમ માટે ઈશ્વરે નિમિત્ત બનાવી એ માટે…

I was on my way to monitor the ongoing water management works at Rampura. En route to  Rampura falls Sutharnesdi, the thought of  Kaluba crossed our mind and we decided to stop at Sutharnesdi to meet her. The families of Sutharnesdi had struggled very hard to obtain the proofs of their existence, their citizenry documents. They were just three families but no-one seemed to  inclined to ensure they received those documents. VSSM’s Naran had worked on campaign mode to  ensure these families receive documentary proofs of their existence. Consequently, they received Voter ID cards and  Ration cards too. “We no longer wish to sing lullabies, please give us loan to help us start some new occupation,” they had requested. Eventually, we sanctioned Rs. 5000 each to help both the sons of Kaluba buy bicycle to start selling cosmetics and hair accessories.

Life is a little easier for them now. We have also filed their  applications for obtaining residential plots from government. The Bharthari never featured on the official list of nomadic and de-notified communities. As a result of VSSM’s extensive advocacy,  the government officials did consider and included Bharthari as well as numerous other communities we had suggested into the official list. This community can now expect to obtain plots and assistance from the government. It is pertinent that  now their life changes for better and these families are determined to make that happen.
“It is because of you we are able to stay here, you are well aware that Bhartharis aren’t blessed to lead such good life!!” Kaluba shared when we stopped to meet her.
It is an incredible feeling to learn  that our existence has brought so much peace and happiness into someone else’s life. Today, there are thousands of individual who feel the same as Kaluba. We are grateful to have been given this opportunity to be helpful to so many.
However, it is crucial that we spot for families like these and make concrete plans  to ensure they are given residential plots. We have presented these to the administration and are hopeful they will plan diligently.

રામપુરામાં થઈ રહેલા જળ વ્યવસ્થાપનના કામો જોવા જતી હતી અને વચમાં સુથારનેસડી આવ્યું. નારણે કાળુ બા ભરથરીને યાદ કર્યો અને અમે ત્યાં થંભ્યા.
પોતાની ઓળખનો આધાર મેળવવા આ પરિવારોએ ઘણો સંઘર્ષ કર્યો હતો. 
ત્રણ જ પરિવાર છતાં કોઈની એના પર નજર જ નહોતી પડી. 
કાર્યકર નારણે એમને નાગરિકત્વ અપાવાની ઝૂંબેશ હાથ ધરી ને મતદારકાર્ડના ફોર્મ ભરાયા. એ પછી તો રાશનકાર્ડ પણ થાય ને હવે રાવણહથ્થો લઈને હાલરડા નથી ગાવા તમે લોન આપો એવી વિનંતી સામે શૃંગારપ્રસાધનો, બોરીયા – બકલ વેચવા સાયકલ અને થોડો સામાન ખરીદવા 5000 -5000ની લોન કાળુ બાના બે દિકરાને આપી.
જીંદગી પહેલા કરતા સરળ થઈ છે. 
રહેવા કાયમી જમીન મળે એ માટે અરજી કરી છે. ભરથરીનો સમાવેશ વિચરતી જાતિની યાદીમાં નહોતો એટલે પ્લોટ મેળવા મુશ્કેલ જણાતા હતા પણ 2017માં VSSMના પ્રયત્નોથી ભરથરીનો સમાવેશ વિચરતી જાતિમાં થયો છે એટલે ઘર તો થવાના. હવે જીવન બહેતર થાય એ વધુ જરૃરી છે. એ માટે એમણે કમર કસી છે.
કાળુ બા મળ્યા અને એમણે કહ્યું, ‘તમે બધા હોવને અમે અહીંયા રહી હકીએ બાકી અમારે આવુ રૃડૃ રહેવાનું શાને હોય?’
આપણા હોવાથી કોઈને સંતોષ થાય એ વાત જ અનેરી છે. આજે હજારો માણસો છે જેમની લાગણી કાળુ બા જેવી જ છે… 
કુદરતે નિમિત્ત બનાવ્યા અનો રાજીપો છે…
પણ હવે આવા પરિવારોને શોધીને તેમને રહેવા લાયક યોગ્ય જગ્યાઓ મળે તે અંગે સચોટ આયોજન થાય એ જરૃરી છે. 
વહીવટીતંત્રમાં રજૂઆતો કરી છે નક્કર થશે એવી આશા છે…
