“We have resided in Rajkot for decades. These jute shanties have not only been our homes  but of  generations before us. Never in our lives we have seen a washroom, toilets or cemented floor. At last we have a plot of land, we too shall build a home and have a bathroom, toilet, fans, lights and all. We too shall know what it is to have electric power life so far has been spent under the flikering candles and oil lamps. We are grateful to you for this piece of land!!”

Naviben Bavri was elated on receiving documents to her piece of land as she shared with us her simple aspirations.

116 Bavri families have been wandering around Rajkot, while carrying the dreams of building a house and settling down. Apart from these Bawri families 72 Bhavaiya and Sadhu families too received residential plots. For years their  applications had been loitering around various tables in various government offices. We had shared these woes with our CM respected Shri Vijaybhai Rupani. It is his sensitivity along with District Collector Shri Ramya Mohan’s compassion that resulted into allotment of plots to these families. Additional Collector Shri Jawant Jegoda helped locate the files and push the applications forward. And  of course  the constant follow-ups by VSSM’s persistent team members Kanubhai and Chayaben’s efforts  remained crucial in ensuring these families receive their piece of land.

On 18th January 2020 the families received documents to their land in Rajkot’s Rampara Beti. On the occasion Shri Vijaybhai mentioned that he has  instructed all the district collectors to work towards providing residential plots to the nomadic families of their district.

We are grateful to the government and administration, their  sensitive approach will remain instrumental in providing a decent roof over the heads of  thousands of families who will soon become homeowners for the first time in many generations.

We are particularly thankful to of Shri D. S. Shah Saheb from Chief Minister’s office. It was his efforts that has been the reason the nomadic families will find an address of their own.

 We can never forget the efforts of respected Bhagwan Kaka who has remained constantly on our side “I have devoted my full time for the welfare of these communities!!”

‘અમી રાજકોટમાં વર્ષોથી રીયા. નાનાથી મોટા થીયા પણ અમારી જીંદગીમાં કોઈ દિ બાથરૃમ, સંડાસ જોવા ન મઈલું. અમે ઝૂંપડાંમાં, કોથળામાં જ રીયા. કોઈ દી જીંદગીમાં સીમેન્ટ કે લાદી ઘરમાં નથી નાઈખી. હવે અમને જમીન મલી સે તે ઈમો કોટર બનાઈશું. અમને હવે બધું જોવા મલશે. બાથરૃમ, સંડાસ, મકામ, પંખા, લાઈટો બધુ જોવા મલશે. નકર દીવા અને મેણબત્તી બાળીન જીંદગી કાઢી. જમી આલી તે તમારો આભાર..’

નવીબેન #બાવરીને પ્લોટની સનદ મળ્યા પછીની લાગણી..

રાજકોટમાં રહેતા 116 બાવરી પરિવારોએ આખી જીંદગી લબાચા લઈને રાજકોટ આસપાસમાં રઝળ્યા કર્યું. પોતાનું ઘર થાય એ માટેનું સ્વપ્ન ખરુ પણ….. બાવરી સિવાયના 72 ભવાયા અને સાધુ પરિવારોને પણ પ્લોટ ફાળવાયા.વર્ષોથી પ્લોટની માંગણી માટેની દરખાસ્તો સરકારી કચેરીમાં જમા પણ કામ થાય નહીં.

રાજ્યના #મુખ્યમંત્રી આદરણીય શ્રી #વિજયભાઈ_રૃપાણી સમક્ષ આ બધીયે બાબતોની વિગતે વાત થઈ તેમની અને આદરણીય #કલેક્ટર શ્રી રમ્યા મોહનની લાગણી ભળી. પ્રાંત કલેક્ટર તરીકે ચરનસિંહ ગોહીલ, જસવંત જેગોડા ત્યાં આવ્યા અને દરખાસ્તોની ફાઈલો શોધાઈ ને કામ આગળ ધપ્યું.સંસ્થાના કાર્યકર કનુભાઈ અને છાયાબહેનની સતત મહેનત. આખરે સ્વપ્ન સાકાર થયું. તા. 18 જાન્યુઆરીના રોજ માનનીય મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રીએ પોતાના હસ્તે આ પરિવારોને રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટની સનદ આપી.

રાજકોટ પાસે રામપરા બેટીમાં એમને પ્લોટ મળ્યા.મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રીએ કાર્યક્રમમાં તમામ જિલ્લા કલેક્ટર શ્રીઓને વિચરતી જાતિઓને પ્લોટ આપવાની સૂચના આપી દીધાની વાત પણ ભાર પૂર્વક કહી.

આભાર વહીવટીતંત્ર અને સરકારનો. આપની લાગણીના લીધે જ હજારો પરિવારો આવનારા વખતમાં ઘરવાળા થવાને એ નક્કી..

મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી તેમજ મુખ્યમંત્રી કાર્યાલયમાં કામ કરતા ડી.એચ.શાહ સાહેબનો વિશેષ આભાર. તેમની લાગણીના લીધે જ આ બધું થઈ રહ્યું છે…

આદરણીય ભગવાન કાકા તો સતત સાથે એમને તો કેમ ભૂલાય. એ કહે એમ, હવે ફૂલ ટાઈમ આ જાતિઓના કલ્યાણ અર્થે…સૌ પ્રિયજનોનો આભાર

જેમણે આ કામમાં સહયોગ કર્યો છે…ફોટોમાં પ્લોટની સનદ આપતા આદરણીય મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી, તેમજ સનદ મળી ગયા પછી આપણો આપણો બધાનો એક ફોટો લઈએ એમ કહીને સનદ મેળવનાર સૌ સાથે ઊભા રહ્યા…અને છેલ્લે હાલમાં આ પરિવારો જ્યાં રહે છે તે પણ જોઈ શકાય છે.

Even after 13 years of  working with the nomads, one of the toughest and the most challenging  task for us  is  to integrate the Dafer community within our society. As our respected Shri Vinod Mall Sir often says, “if we could  settle the Dafer families at the centre of the village most of their issues shall find prompt resolution.

We too have  chanted the same for many  and awaited the moment when a Dafer Danga would be granted a permanent residency.  It calls for a strong willed and generous Sarpanch to make that happen as most villages aren’t prepared to accept Dafer as their fellow villagers.

Amidst such hostile attitude, Shri Kuldeepsinh Rana Sarpanch of Bhadwana village of Surendranagar’s Lakhtar block displayed willingness to settle Hakimbha’s family in Bhadwana. We all are aware of Shri Rajesh’s swift actions when it comes to administrative will to help the poor and marginalised families of Surendranagar. It is this district’s good fortune to be blessed with a collector like Shri Rajesh. In the meantime Shri Vijaybhai Patni joined as  Wadhvan’s Additional Collector. It was like the universe conspired and for the very first time the  Dafer families  were allotted residential plots.

Recently, I happened to meet the Sanpanch, “they are poor families, we cannot gauge and examine their present on the basis of their past. If we integrate them with us, they will learn from us and give up their unlawful involvements if they are given the opportunities to interact with us. These families haven’t been in my village for years, but I have always wanted to settle poor families in my village. I am glad this dream has turned into a reality. I am sure their children will now study and have a better future. I am grateful to almighty for this opportunity.”

If the  Sarpanchs from all our villages showed similar compassion the poor from the villages might face fewer challenges.

Any offering is incomplete without the Tulsi leaf on the top. Similarly,  Collector Shri Rajesh’s  Diwali  gift of 501 residential plots to the nomadic families was incomplete without the allotment of a plot to Dafer.  This allotment has accomplished the task of a Tulsi leaf. We are grateful to Collector Shri Rajesh, the district administration, Sarpanch and the government. 

We also appreciate the efforts by our respected  Chief Minister to listen to the plight of these families. He has committed to work rigorously  and the work in that direction seems to have initiated. Grateful for the commitment he has shown towards these families. .

To Hakimbha and the Dafer families about to settle in Bhadwana, we wish you all the very best. You will soon be moving into a pucca house of your own, you too shall have an address of your own from where no one shall dare move you.

આખરે સોનાનો સૂરજ ઊગ્યો..

વિચરતી જાતિઓ સાથે છેલ્લા 13 વર્ષથી કામ કરીએ. પણ આ 13 વર્ષમાં સૌથી મુશ્કેલ કામ ડફેર સમુદાયને સમાજમાં પ્રસ્થાપીત કરવાનું લાગે.

આદરણીય @vinodMall સર કહે એમ ડફેરને ગામવચાળે વસાવીએ તો એમના બીજા પ્રશ્નોનું સમાધાન આપો આપ આવી જાય.

અમે પણ વર્ષોથી આ રટણ કરતા અને ડફેરના ડંગાને ક્યાંક સ્થાયી સરનામુ મળી જાય એની રાહ જોતા. ડફેરના વસવાટ માટે સરપંચ જીગરવાળા અને ઉદારદીલ જોઈએ. મોટાભાગે ગામો આ સમુદાયને સ્વીકારવા બહુ રાજી નહીં એટલે ખાસ…

આવામાં સુરેન્દ્રનગર જિલ્લાના લખતર તાલુકાના ભડવાણાગામના સરપંચ શ્રી કુલદીપસીંહ રાણાએ હીકમભાના પરિવારને વસાવવાની હામ દાખવી. તો કલેક્ટર શ્રી કે રાજેશની તો આ પરિવારોને મદદ માટેની તત્પરતા આપણે સૌ જાણીએ. એમના જેવા કલેક્ટર મેળવવા એ સુરેન્દ્રનગર જિલ્લાનું ભાગ્ય છે. એવામાં શ્રી વિજયભાઈ પટણી પ્રાંત કલેકટર તરીકે વઢવાણમાં તેમની સાથે જોડાયા. આમ સંજોગો સરસ નિર્માણ પામ્યા અને પહેલીવાર ડફેર પરિવારોને રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ ફાળવાયા.

સરપંચ શ્રીને મળવાનું થયું ત્યારે એમણે કહ્યું, ‘આ દુઃખી માણસો છે. કોઈ માણસનો ભૂતકાળ કેવો છે એ જોઈને એને મુલવવાનું નો કરાય. ઊલટાનું એને આપણા ભેગા ભેળવીએ તો એ માણસ આડા આવળા રસ્તા મેલી સીધો હાલવા માંડે. મારા ગામમાં આ પરિવારો કાંઈ વરસોથી રહેતા નહોતા પણ મારા મનની ઈચ્છા હતી આવા ગરીબોને મારા ગામમાં વસાવું. આજે એ સ્વપ્ન પુરુ થયું. ગામ હારે રહેશે તો એમના બાળકોય ભણશે. હું તો કુદરતનો આભાર માનુ છુ કે મને આ તક મળી.

આવા ઉમદા વિચારો દરેક સરપંચના થાય તો કોઈ ગામમાં ગરીબ માણસોના પ્રશ્નો રહે જ નહીં.

કલેકટર શ્રીએ તો દિવાળીની ભેટરૃપે વિચરતા વિમુક્ત સમુદાયના 501 પરિવારોને પ્લોટ ફાળવ્યા. જેમાં ડફેર સમુદાયને પ્લોટ ફાળવી ભગવાનને ધરાવાતા ભોગ કે પ્રસાદમાં 32 પકવાન ધરાવ્યા છતાં તુલસીપત્રને જો એ પ્રસાદમાં સ્થાન આપવામાં આવે નહીં તો ભગવાનને ધરાવેલો ભોગ અધુરો રહે છે. આ ડફેરને પ્લોટ ફાળવ્યા એ ભગવાનને ધરાવેલું તુલસીપત્ર છે. ભેટ સાચા સ્વરૃપમાં સ્વીકારાયી. આભાર કલેકટર શ્રી તેમજ તમામ વહીવટીતંત્ર, સરપંચ શ્રી તેમજ સરકારનો.

આદરણીય મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી એ આ સમુદાયો સાથે મોકળા મને કાર્યક્રમ કર્યો જેમાં તેમણે આ સમુદાયોને વિકાસની હરોળમાં લાવવાનું કામ ઘનિષ્ઠ રીતે કરવાની વાત કરી હતી. જેની શરૃઆત થઈ ગઈ છે. આભાર આપની કટીબદ્ધતા માટે..

હકીમભા અને ભડવાણામાં જે પરિવારો સ્થાયી થવાના એ બધાને ઘણી શુભેચ્છા. હવે તમે પાકા ઘરવાળા થશો, પોતાના સરનામાંવાળા થશો જ્યાંથી તમને કોઈ કાઢી નહીં શકે.

ભડવાણા સરપંચને મળ્યા તે વેળાની કેટલીક તસવીરો, પ્લોટ ફાળવ્યાનો હુકમ તેમજ સરપંચ અને હકીમભાની વાતો નાનકડા વિડીયોમાં… તથા કલેકટર શ્રીએ આ વસાહતમાં જઈને આ લોકોને પ્લોટની સનદ આપી.

કાર્યકર હર્ષદ આ બધા કામોમાં સતત આ પરિવારોની સાથે રહ્યો છે એની દોડાદોડી લેખે લાગી.

Almost a year ago I happened to visit Vansfoda families of Vav’s Devpura village.

Nathaba, the leader of the settlement happens to be an extremely loving gentleman who immensely cares for me.

Nathaba had kept few partridges  as pets, although he had no special reason or thought behind keeping these birds as pets. Seemed like he liked keeping them. However, such swift and gregarious birds caged and confined to a cage wasn’t liked by Rashminbhai and me.  

“Would you like living in a house made of gold that did not permit you to step out in open?” I had asked Nathba.

 We did not speak further and Nathaba seemed to have got the message.

Today, I was in the settlement again. I could see the empty cages lying around. “Where are the partridges?” I inquired.

“I set them free the day you questioned me. I have these pigeons now. They are free to come and go at their own free will. There are no restrictions for them…” he spoke while showing me the houses he had built for the pigeons.

It is hard to believe someone has changed his/her behaviour on our saying but  the immense love the nomadic communities have given me makes it all possible. I fell blessed  to have been accepted by these humbles humans. Respects.

લગભગ વરસ પહેલાં વાવ તાલુકાના દેવપુરાગામના ધોરા પર રહેતા વાંસફોડા પરિવારોની વસાહતમાં જવાનું થયેલું.

વસાહતના આગેવાન નાથાબા બહુ પ્રેમાળ. મારા પર તો વિશેષ હેત રાખે.

એમની વસાહતમાં એમણે તેતરને પાળ્યા હતા. જેને સરસ પાંજરામાં એમણે રાખ્યા હતા. જો કે આ તેતરને પાળવા પાછળ એમનું કોઈ વિશેષ પ્રયોજન નહોતું. પણ શોખથી એમણે તેતરને પાળ્યા હતા.

પણ પાંજરામાં પુરેલા તેતરને જોઈને મને અને મારી સાથે આવેલા આદરણીય રશ્મીનભાઈને આ બહુ રુચ્યુ નહીં.

અમે નાથાબાને કહ્યું, ‘તમને સોનાનું ઘર બનાવીને કોઈ આપી દે પણ બહાર નીકળવાની છુટ હોય નહીં તો તમને ગમે?’

નાથાબા શાનમાં બધી વાત સમજી ગયા. અમે વધારે કશું કહ્યું નહીં.

આજે વરસ પછી એમની વસાહતમાં જવાનું થયું. વસાહતમાં ફોટોમાં દેખાય એ ખાલી પાંજરા એક બાજુ વાડમાં પડેલા જોયા. મે નાથાબા ને પુછ્યું,

‘તેતેર ક્યાં?’

‘બાપલા તમે કીધુ તે દાડે જ ઈમન છોડી મેલ્યા. હવ આમ જુઓ આવા પારેવાને પાળુ સુ. એમના ઘર ખુલ્લામોં બનાયા એટલ ઈમન જાણ આવવું હોય તાણ આવ અન જાય કોઈની રોકટોક ઈમન નઈ..’

એમ કહીને નાથાબાએ પારેવા માટે બનાવેલા ઘર બતાવ્યા..જે તમે પણ જોઈ શકો છો.

અમારા પરનો આવો અદભૂત પ્રેમ, આમ કોઈને એક વખત કશું કહીએ અને એ માની જાય એ વાત જ અકલ્પનીય છે પણ વિચરતી જાતિ આવો પ્રેમ કરે છે.. મને ગર્વ છે આ સમાજ પર કે જેમણે મને અપનાવી છે.. આપ સૌને પ્રણામ…

“God Bless you my child! May you always prosper. You sent Mahesh for my help, right? Look how much he runs around to help me.” Navi Ma’s native is Dhanera, but lives in a shanty near Hawai Pillar in Deesa. Navi Ma lost her mother when she was barely 3 years old. Her father remarried and step-mother proved to be the evil step-mother we read about in fairy tales. At the age of 13 Navi Ma was married off to a man 20 years older to her. Her husband was an alcoholic and there were no close relatives Navi Ma could call family. Navi Ma’s desire to have a family of her own couldn’t turn into a reality as the couple never had child of their own.

30 years ago her husband died of prolonged illness. Navi Ma continued to work as manual labour and feed herself for as long as she could. As age progressed her capacity to put in physical work gradually decreased. She would station herself near a temple in Deesa and beg for living. Every day she would buy herself some food from whatever amount she received in begging. Gradually, reaching temple also became a challenge. Also finding food during rainy days and times when she was unwell became was a tough task. Sleeping on empty belly was a the only option she had.

VSSM’s Mahesh happen to notice Navi Ma and began providing her with the monthly grain kit. “Where do I have  vessels to cook?” Navi Ma had told Mahesh when he was at her place to give her the first grain  kit. Later we gave her few vessels. The neighbours give her the fire wood and Navi Ma cooks whatever she can.

I had never met her hence, decided to go and see her.  She caressed me with affection, blessing me all the while. “I do not have mattress, someone took the one I had. The food remains in open I have no container to store the grains and groceries you give me.” We gave her the containers she asked. There are hundreds and thousands of destitute elderly like Navi Ma for whom finding a meal at the end of the day is tough task.

With your help and support, we have taken up the task to provide this elderly the dignity they deserve while they are alive and provide them a proper adieu while they pass on. I welcome you all to help these elderly humans live their sunset years with dignity and grace.

We easily spend Rs. 1000-1500 on a single receipt while we dine-out. This amount is all that is required to provide a grain kit that will last an entire  month for an elderly individual. Think about it.

I am grateful to all those who have supported us in this initiative. You have been instrumental in a very noble cause.

‘મારા દીચરા ભગવોન તારુ હારુ કરશે. તારા ઘેર લીલાલેર કરશે. આ મહેશને તે મેલ્યો તો? એ દીચરા ઘોડે મારી સેવા કર હ્’

નવી મા જુના ડીસામાં હવાઈ પીલર પાસે છાપરુ બાંધીને રહે.મૂળ એ ધાનેરાના વતની. ત્રણ વર્ષની ઉંમરે તેમણે માની છત્રછાયા ગુમાવી. પિતાએ ફરી લગ્ન કર્યા અને નવી મા ઘરમાં આવી. માનો ત્રાસ વધ્યો. કમરતોડ કામ કરે તોય મા જીવને હખ નહોતી લેવા દેતી. 13 વર્ષની ઉંમરે લગ્ન માટે માંગા આવ્યા અને પોતાનાથી 20 વર્ષ મોટા વ્યક્તિ સાથે તેમના લગ્ન થયા.

પતિ દારૃડિયો નીકળ્યો. વળી સાસરીમાંય બીજા કોઈ સગાવહાલાં નહીં. આમ સાવ નોંધારા જેવું જ જીવન રહ્યું.પોતાની કુખે બાળક જન્મે એવી હોંશ હતી પણ કુદરતને એ મંજૂર નહોતું. માનું સુખ નવી માને મળ્યું નહીં.

પતિની ઉંમર થઈ અને આજથી ત્રીસ વર્ષ પહેલાં લાંબી માંદગીમાં એ મૃત્યુને ભેટ્યા.નવી મા મજૂરી કરીને પેટિયું રળતા. પણ ઉંમર વધતા હાથ – પગ કામ કરતા બંધ થયા.ડીસામાં આવેલા મંદિર પાસે જઈને ભિક્ષાવૃતિ કરવાનું એમણે શરૃ કર્યું. ભીખમાં જે મળે તેમાંથી બજારમાંથી તૈયાર ખાવાનું લઈને ખાવાનું, આ નવીમાનો નિત્યક્રમ થઈ ગયો. પણ સમય જતા મંદિરે જવામાં પણ તકલીફ પડવા માંડી. આવામાં બિમારી કે ચોમાસામાં તો ભૂખ્યા પડ્યા રહેવાનું થતું.

આવા નવીમા પર અમારા કાર્યકર મહેશની નજર પડી અને નવીમાને દર મહિને જીવન ટકાવી શકે તે માટે રાશન આપવાની વાત કરી. મહેશ નવીમાને પહેલીવાર રાશન આપવા ગયો ત્યારે એમણે કહ્યું,

‘મારી પાહેણ રોધવાના વાહણોય ચો હ?’

એ પછી અમે તપેલી ને થોડા વાસણો આપ્યા. લાકડાં આજુબાજુના લોકો આપી દે આમ રસોઈ કરીને એ બં ટંક ખાય છે.

હું એમને મળી નહોતી. એટલે ડીસા ગઈ ત્યારે ખાસ નવીમાને મળવા ગઈ. અમે પહેલીવાર મળ્યા. એમણે મારા આખા શરીરે વારંવાર હેતનો હાથ ફેરવ્યો. અમે #રાશનકીટ આપી તો એમણે કહ્યું,’મારી કને ગોદડા હતા તે કાલે એક ગોદડું કોક લઈ જ્યું. આ કરિયોણું મેલવા ડબ્બો નહીં તમે ડબ્બો આલો નકર આય કોક લઈ જશે’ વૃદ્ધ સાથે એક ભય તેમને લાગી રહ્યો હતો..

અમે ડબ્બા આપ્યા. પણ નવી મા જેવા કેટલાય #માવતરો છે જેમને ને બે ટંકના રોટલાને છેટું છે. વળી એ જે સમાજમાંથી છે તે સમાજના લોકોય માંડ માંડ ગુજારો કરે છે આમ તેમની ચિંતા કરવાનું તેમનો સમાજ કરતો નથી. આવા માવતરોને સુખદ જીવાડવાનું અને જ્યારે આ દુનિયામાંથી જાય ત્યારે માનભેર વિદાય આપવાનું અમે આપ સૌ પ્રિયજનોની મદદથી શરૃ કર્યું છે.

આવા માવતરોને મદદ કરવા માટે તમને આવકારુ પણ છું. હોટલમાં જમવા જઈએ ત્યારે થતા 1000 – 1500ના બીલમાં એક વડીલને આખા મહિનાનું રાશન મળી જાય છે. જરા વિચારવા જેવું છે.

આ કાર્યમાં મદદ કરનાર સૌ પ્રિયજનોનો આભાર…તેમના થકી જ આ સુંદર કાર્ય થઈ રહ્યું છે.

The warm and traditional welcome I received from the small girls of Harij ushered memories of the days when I too, as primary school student  be part of the welcome committee at most school functions.

There is a huge concentration of Raval families in Harij  living under pathetic conditions (as visible in the image). VSSM’s Mohanbhai filed residential plot applications for 46 of these families. On Patan District Collector Shri Anand Patel’s instructions his team was able to find land for these families.  As a result of this compassionate officer these families will soon receive papers to their little plots of land.

The efforts of district Social Welfare Officer Shri Vitthalbhai Patel enabled these families to acquire the very essential caste certificates. I had the good fortune of distributing these certificates to 40 families.

The issues relating to non-existence of sewage connections, basic roads to the settlement  in this thickly populated settlement shall be addressed soon was the promise given to us by the Vice President of  Town Corporation who was also present at the document distribution program.

Water is life and yet we have chosen to care the least for this natural element that is so crucial to human existence.

The groundwater levels in most parts of our country are dwindling at an alarming rate. VSSM has initiated Participatory Water Management program to address the severe water crisis in the Banaskantha region. It has been working with the local communities to deepen the village lakes. In the past 3 years it has deepened 87 lakes in various villages of Banaskantha. We plan to take the program forward even in 2020. A planning and strategy building exercise has been initiated with the village leaders in this regard. A meeting with the Sarpanch and leaders of Savan village was organised. A thorough discussion on  why this concern for the current water scenario, joining hands with local communities, it was also decided to request the government to link and  fill up of lakes with the water from Sardar Sarovar’s main canal. The members pledged to look beyond personal interests and goals and work collectively for the greater good. Be true ‘sons of the soil’.

This year too we hope to receive a positive and forward looking response to the water conservation efforts in Banaskantha. It is for the community to prove that though the earth has dried up in the region their hearts haven’t and they still care for the drying underbelly of this planet we call home. I am grateful to all who decided to remain present in the meeting and contribute for a better and greener future.

જળ એ જીવન..

આપણે સૌ આ વાતને જાણીએ સમજીએ છતાં જળની જોઈએ એવી ચિંતા આપણે કરતા નથી તે હકીકત છે..

બનાસકાંઠામાં પાણીના તળની સ્થિતિ ખરાબ થઈ રહી છે. આ તળને સાબદા રાખવા આપણા પરંપરાગત જલ સ્ત્રોતોને સાચવવા અને તેને ફરીથી સાબદા- સરખા કરવા જરૃરી છે.

અમે છેલ્લા ત્રણ વર્ષમાં બનાસકાંઠામાં 87 તળાવ ઊંડા કર્યા.

2020માં જલ અભીયાન અંતર્ગત તળાવો ઊંડા કરવાનું પાછું શરૃ કરવું છે..

પણ એ પહેલાં જાગૃત સરપંચો, ગામના આગેવાનો સાથે એક બેઠક કરવાનું કર્યું અને દિયોદરના સણાવ ગામે એ બેઠક સંપન્ન થઈ.

જે ગામલોકો પોતાના ગામનું તળાવ ઊંડુ કરાવવા ઈચ્છે તે ગામના લોકોની ભાગીદારીથી તળાવો ઊંડા કરવાનું બેઠકમાં નક્કી થયું.

વળી બહુ વિસ્તારથી પાણીની ચિંતા શા માટે કરવી જોઈએ તેની પણ ચર્ચા થઈ.

આ સાથે જે તળાવો નર્મદા કેનાલ કે પાઈપલાઈનની આસપાસમાં છે તે ગામના તળાવો કેનાલના પાણીથી ભરવા માટેની રજૂઆત સરકારમાં કરવાનું પણ નક્કી થયું.

બેઠકમાં સૌ સ્વજનોને સ્વાર્થથી ઉપર ઊઠી ખરા ધરતીપુત્ર બનવા આહવાન પણ કરવામાં આવ્યું.

આશા રાખીએ આ વર્ષનું જલ અભીયાન સુંદર લોકભાગીદારીથી શરૃ અને પૂર્ણ થાય.

બનાસકાંઠો સૂક્કો પણ લોકોના મન સુક્કા નથી એ વાત પાણી અભીયાનથી આપણે સૌએ અન્યોને સાબિત કરી આપવાની છે. આશા રાખુ આખુ બનાસકાંઠા જાગે અને પાણીની પોતાના તળની ચિંતા કરે..
