Better late than never… I am glad people have begun paying attention to the looming water crisis and are working towards adopting methods to conserve it.

Almost four years ago, we deepened the lake at Kankar village in Banaskantha’s Kankrej. After it was deepened, the lake could catch the rainwater, and with its linking to the Sardar Sarovar pipeline, the government also filled it up at least thrice during one year. As a result, the borewells that had dried up or were breathing their last have found a fresh lease of life as the water tables have gone up.

For the last three decades, we have been exploiting our groundwater reserves at an insane pace. We have almost emptied the water from the earth’s belly; when do we intend to replenish all we have taken out? What do we leave for our coming generations?

Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan share the waters of Narmada. Hence, we must practice prudence when it comes to using and managing the waters of Narmada and other rivers as well.

When the Sardar Sarovar dam overflows during the monsoons if its waters can be used to fill up the lakes of regions like Banaskantha and Kutchh it will help raise the groundwater tables.

For the last six years, VSSM has been deepening the village lakes in Banaskantha. So far, we have deepened 190 lakes and plan to continue deepening more. This year with the soaring temperatures, our prayers to the Rain God has also intensified as we pray for abundant rains that could fill up the deepened lakes.

And may the Sardar Sarovar also receive enough water to help fill up the parched water bodies.

જળસંચયનું કાર્ય ખુબ અગત્યનું… લોકો ભલે થોડું મોડુ પણ એનું મહત્વ સમજ્યા એ ગમ્યું.

અમે ચારેક વર્ષ પહેલાં બનાસકાંઠાના કાંકરેજના કાકરગામનું ગામ તળાવ ઊંડું કર્યું. તળાવ ઊંડું થયું તેમાં ચોમાસે પાણી ભરાયું સાથે નર્મદા પાઈપ લાઈન સાથે જોડી વર્ષમાં ઓછામાં ઓછા ત્રણેક વખત તળાવ ભરવાનું પણ સરકારે કર્યું પરિણામે ગામના ખેડૂતો કહે એમ, ગામના ઘણા ખેડૂતોના બોરવેલ ડચકા લેતા હતા, ઘણા તો બંધ જ થઈ ગયેલા એ બધા આ તળાવ ભરાવાના કારણે સજીવન થઈ ગયા.

સતત પાણી ભરાવાના લીધે ગામમાં પાણીના તળ પણ ઉપર આવ્યા. છેલ્લા પચીસ – ત્રીસ વર્ષમાં આપણે અમાપ પાણી ભૂગર્ભમાંથી ઉલેચ્યું…

પેટાળ ખાલી કરી દીધા પેટાળ પરત ભરવામાં નહીં આવે તો આવનારી પેઢીને આપણે શું આપીશું એ પ્રશ્ન છે.. વળી મા રેવા- નર્મદાના પાણી પર ગુજરાત, મહારાષ્ટ્ર અને રાજસ્થાન ત્રણેયને જોઈએ…

આવામાં નર્મદાના પાણીનું તેમજ એ સિવાયની નદીઓના પાણીનું યોગ્ય વ્યવસ્થાપન થાય તે જરૃરી.ચોમાસામાં નર્મદા ડેમ ઓવર ફ્લો થાય એ વખતે બનાસકાંઠા, કચ્છ જેવા સુકા પ્રદેશના તળાવમાં કે જ્યાં વરસાદ ઓછો છે ત્યાના જળાશયો ભરવામાં આવે તો પણ ઘણો ફાયદો થાય..

અમે તળાવો ઊંડા કરવાનું છેલ્લા છ વર્ષથી કરીએ. અત્યાર સુધી બનાસકાંઠામાં 190 તળાવો ઊંડા કર્યા અને હાલમાં આ કાર્ય ચાલી રહ્યું છે. આ વર્ષે મેઘરાજાને પણ પ્રાર્થના કે મન મુકીને વરસે અને ગાળેલા બધા તળાવો બરાબર ભરાય. સાથે સરદાર સરોવરમાં પણ એટલું પાણી આવે કે તરસ્યા બધાય જળાશયોની તરસ એનાથી સંતાષોય…

Benap, one of the remotest village of Banaskantha is a village of extremes. Extreme cold, extreme heat and acute water shortage are the norm in this village.

In 2019, Benap’s sarpanch Paragbhai had requested for bringing the tree plantation drive to their village. As a result, we planted trees around the village crematorium. We were a little concerned if they would be cared for, but the vrukshmitra has done an excellent job, and Paragbhai has efficiently supervised the entire effort. Three years later, we have a small woodland growing around the crematorium.

In 2021, Paragbhai shared a desire to raise a second woodland. The humble community members from the village set aside 9 acres of land. The District Development Officer of Banaskantha helped us clean the space, dig pits for plant trees, and buy saplings. The village community and our dear Krishnakant Uncle and Dr Indira auntie supported to enable us to plant and raise 10,000 trees and create a woodland named Sanjeev Upvan.

It has been eight months since we planted the trees to create Sanjeev Upvan, the second woodland in Benap. The care and nurturing by tree caregiver Sava Ba, Sarpanch Paragbhai, the proactive youth of Benap and VSSM’s Bhagwan have all helped create a beautiful and calming woodland. The height of the trees has surprised us as well. At one point, we were uncertain if the trees would take roots in this harsh and arid land, but looking at the healthy and happy trees, we are sure of a thriving woodland coming up. The goodwill of all who have supported it has helped create wonders.

A site filled with the notorious gando-baval, Sanjeev Upvan is a sight to behold. Guava, Jamun, Neem, Gulmohar, Peepul, Indian Fig tree, Saru, Peltaform trees sway in joy as if they are eagerly waiting for their inhabitants to arrive.

We have created a small woodland and offered it to Mother Earth, and I wish you spare some resources to develop such forests in your village. A forest that will be home to thousands of living beings. If we can create such woodlands in the rain-starved Banaskantha, the Rain Gods will be compelled to bless the region. So let us all commit to raising Vruksh Mandir in every village.

વૃક્ષમંદિર નિર્માણ..

બનાસકાંઠાનું છેવાડ આવેલું ગામ બેણપ. ટાઢ અને તડકો બેય તોબા પોકારી દે એવા અહીં પડે. પાણીની અછતવાળો વિસ્તાર. ગામમાં વૃક્ષો ઉછેરવા સરપંચ પરાગભાઈએ અમને 2019માં કહેણ મોકલ્યું ને અમે સ્મશાનમાં વૃક્ષો વાવ્યા. જો કે શંકા નહીં ઉછરેની હતી પણ વૃક્ષમિત્રની મહેનત ને સરપંચની દેખરેખના લીધે સૂકા વિસ્તારમાં નાનકડુ વન ઊભુ થઈ ગયું.

પછી તો હિંમત આવી. 2021માં પરાગભાઈને બીજુ એક વન ઊભુ કરવા જગ્યા આપવા કહ્યું ને ગામના સજ્જન માણસોએ હોંશે હોંશે 9 એકરથી વધુ જગ્યા આપી. બનાસકાંઠાના જિલ્લા વિકાસ અધિકારીએ જગ્યાની સફાઈ, વૃક્ષો વાવવા ખાડા કરવામાં મદદ કરી. ઘણા વૃક્ષો પણ ખરીદીને આપ્યા. બાકીની મદદ ગ્રામજનો ને અમારા પ્રિય ક્રિષ્ણકાંત મહેતા નેેે ડો.ઈન્દીરા મહેતાએ કરી ને સરસ મજાનું સંજીવ ઉપવન ઊભુ થયું જ્યાં 10,000 વૃક્ષો લહેરાઈ રહ્યા છે. ગામમાં અમે ઊભુ કરેેલું આ બીજુ ઉપવન એમાં વૃક્ષ વાવે આઠ મહિના થયા છે પણ અમારા વૃક્ષમિત્ર સવા બા સરપંચ પરાગભાઈ ને ગામના અન્ય ઉત્સાહી યુવાનોની સક્રિયતા ઘણી વળી અમારા કાર્યકર ભગવાનની પણ દેખરેખ એટલે વૃક્ષો સારી રીતે ઉછરી રહ્યા છે.

વૃક્ષોની ઊંચાઈ પણ નવાઈ લાગે તેવી.. આ વિસ્તાર જે રીતનો એ જોતા આવું સરસ વન ઊભુ થશે એની શંકા હતી પણ થઈ ગયું. કદાચ મદદ કરનાર સૌનો પુણ્યભાવ પણ કામે લાગ્યો.

જામફળ,જાંબુ, કાશીદ, લીમડો, ગુલમહોર, પીપળ, સરૃ, ઉમરો વગેરે જેવા વૃક્ષો સંજીવ ઉપવનમાં લહેરાઈ રહ્યા છે. એક વખત આ જગ્યા ગાંડાબાવળથી ભરેલી હતી. ત્યાં હવે જાતજાતના ફૂલ ફળવાળા વૃક્ષો ઉગ્યા છે. આ વૃક્ષો મોટા થશે ને હજારો જીવોનું આ ઘર બનશે..

બેણપ ગામે નાનકડુ જંગલ બનાવીને મા ધરતીનેે આપવાનું કર્યું. તમે પણ તમારા ગામમાં એક નાનકડુ જંગલ – ભગવાનના ભાગરૃપે કાઢો તેવું ઈચ્છુ જ્યાં અબોલ જીવો કોઈ ભય વગર રહી શકે. ગાઢ જંગલ 10000 થી 15000 વૃક્ષોનું ગામે ગામ થશે તો ઓછા વરસાદવાળા બનાસકાંઠામાં ભગવાને વરસવા મજબૂર થવું પડશે એ નક્કી તો ચાલો ગામે ગામ વૃક્ષમંદિરોનું નિર્માણ કરીએ…

Mittal Patel visits Vruksh Mandir with the villagers

The wise and aware community leaders of various villages have begun sending requests to VSSM for launching a tree plantation campaign in their respective villages. VSSM calls the plantation sites – vruksh-mandir/tree temples.

Maheshbhai from Tharad’s Duva village called us, and we reached the village to inspect the site around the village crematorium. The community had initiated clearing the area of wild baval trees and building a boundary wall around the chosen location. They had also made arrangements for water to set up the drip irrigation system.

VSSM will dig pits to plant trees, bring trees, install a drip irrigation system, and appoint and pay the vriksh-mitr (caretaker of the trees).

Duva’s Maheshbhai is a very humble and aware individual; he understands that the more vruksh-mandirs we raise, the better it is for Mother Earth. So he has convinced the sarpanch and community of Kalash Luvana village to raise a tree temple in their town.

We need individuals like Mahesbhai, who can play the catalyst and convince more villages to join in.

If the community of Banaskantha wakes up to this acute need for planting trees, we will soon be able to make Banaskantha green again!

પોતાના ગામમાં વૃક્ષમંદિર ઊભા કરવા ગામના જાગૃત વ્યક્તિઓના કહેણ આવવા માંડ્યા.

થરાદના ડુવા ગામથી મહેશભાઈનો ફોન આવ્યો ને અમે પહોંચ્યા ડુવાનું સ્મશાન જોવા. ખૂબ મોટુ સ્મશાન. અમારી શરત પ્રમાણે સ્મશાન ફરતે દિવાલ કરેલી ને ગાંડાબાવળથી ભરેલા સ્મશાનમાંથી ગાંડા બાવળ કાઢવાનું પણ ગામના જાગૃત નાગરિકોએ ભેગા મળીને શરૃ કર્યું. આ સિવાય પાણીની વ્યવસ્થા પણ ગામે કરી.

અમે ખાડા કરી, વૃક્ષો લાવી વાવવાનું, ડ્રીપ લગાડવાનું ને ત્રણ વર્ષ માટે વૃક્ષમિત્રની નીમણૂક કરી વૃક્ષની માવજત કરવાનું કરીશું.

ડુવાના મહેશભાઈ એકદમ સજ્જન માણસ ને જાગૃત પણ ખરા અમે એમને વધારે વૃક્ષમંદિર બનાવવા અન્ય પરિચીત ગામોને તૈયાર કરવા કહ્યું ને એમણે કળશ લુવાણાગામના સરપંચ શ્રી સાથે વાત કરીને ત્યાં વૃક્ષો વવાય તે માટે સૌને તૈયાર કર્યા.

મહેશભાઈની જેવા જાગૃત નાગરીકોની અમને જરૃર જેઓ આંગળી ચિંધવાનું કરે.

બસ બનાસકાંઠા જાગે ને સહયોગ કરે તો આપણે સૌ સાથે મળીને એને હરિયાળો કરીશું એ નક્કી..

“The community lake of our village receives enough rainwater, but the lake is very shallow and cannot hold the water it receives. If we deepen the lake, it will be able to serve its purpose. The community has wanted to deepen the lake for a long time; who would do it was the question that bothered us. Our desire was true; God answered our prayers and sent you all to help us deepen the lakes.” The Lakhani block’s Madal village community is wise enough to understand the gravity of the situation and work towards water conservation. VSSM is working with the local community to deepen the village lake.

VSSM covers the JCB cost while the community takes up the responsibility of lifting the excavated soil. If each village leadership comes forward, we would be able to deepen many lakes and make them fit to hold water through the year.

Water and trees are remembered the most when we are struck by the scorching summer sun, but our efforts to conserve these two have always remained deficient.

We plant and raise trees and also build water temples/deepen the village lakes. It is essential, that we hand over not just material affluence but also a legacy of greener and bluer earth to our coming generations.

અમારા ગામના આ તળાવમાં વરસાદી પાણી ઘણું આવે પણ અમારુ આ તળાવ છીછરુ. ઝાઝુ પાણી ન ભરાય. ણ જો તળાવ સરખુ ખોદાય તો એમાં ઘણું પાણી ભરાય. ઘણા વખતથી અમારી આ ઈચ્છા હતી પણ શરૃ કોણ કરે એવું થતું. ભલુ થજો ભગવાનનું તે અમારી ભાવના હતી તે તમને અમારી કને મોકલી આપ્યા’

વાત છે લાખણી તાલુકાના મડાલ ગામના લોકોની. ગામની સીમનું તળાવ અમે ગામલોકો સાથે ભાગીદારીમાં ઊંડુ કરી રહ્યા છીએ. જેસીબીનો ખર્ચ અમે આપીએ ને માટી ઉપાડવાનું ગામલોકો પોતાની રીતે કરે..

દરેક ગામ આવી ભાગીદારી માટે તૈયાર થાય તોય ઘણા તળાવો ઊંડા થઈ જાય એ નક્કી..

ઉનાળાની શરૃઆત થઈ રહી છે. કાળઝાળ ગરમી પડશે ત્યારે આપણને છાંયડો ને પાણી બેય યાદ આવશે.. પણ આ બેય કાયમ મળે તે માટે આપણા પ્રયત્નો ઊણા..

અમે વૃક્ષો વાવી ઉછેરવાનું ને સાથે જળમંદિરો – તળાવો ઊંડા કરવાનું કરી રહ્યા છીએ. આવનારી પેઢીને ધનદોલતની સાથે સાબદા પાણીના તળ આપવા આ કરવું જરૃરી… તમે પણ આ કાર્યમાં જોડાવ અથવા તમારી રીતે ટીપે ટીપાને બચાવવાના આયોજનો કરો તેમ ઈચ્છીએ..

The area around Bandlapalli village in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantpur district receives very little rainfall. The entire region of Anantpur is drought-prone, compelling the locals to migrate in search of a living. Fed up with the constant water woes, the local population decided to take the situation into their hands and initiate water conservation efforts. Today the area stands transformed with farmers cultivating groundnuts and raising mango orchards. The rains continue to be a deficit; in 2018-19, the entire region received just 272 mm rainfall, but the community persistently works towards conserving each raindrop. And these efforts have heralded a new revolution.

Back in Gujarat, Banaskantha receives an average of 550 mm rainfall every year. As a result, the groundwater tables have reached alarmingly low levels. The deplorable water conditions can only improve if we care for traditional water sources, the deepened lakes are filled with Narmada waters (if at all the canal is passing from nearby), and each drop of water is conserved and allowed to seep into the ground.

The farmers of Lakhani have been telling us that the crops growing earlier are no longer possible to cultivate, primarily because we have been drawing water from way too under the ground.

For the past five and half years, VSSM has launched water conservation efforts in partnership with the community of Banaskantha; this year too, we have launched the efforts to deepen the lakes.

The deepening of village lake of Vav block of Tadav village was launched with Ajmera Realty & Infra India Ltd’s support. The village community contributed more than Rs. 1 lac to excavate the soil, while farmers volunteered to lift the excavated soil. The sarpanch and village leadership were highly proactive in the entire effort. However, just like Tadav other villages also need to up their role and become water conservers and not just consumers.

We have created a water temple in the village; this June, we will also build a tree temple as we plant trees in the village.

આંધ્રપ્રદેશના અનંતપુર જિલ્લાનું બંદલાપલ્લીગામ જે વિસ્તારમાં આવે તે વિસ્તારમાં વરસાદ ઓછો પડે. અનંતપુર જિલ્લામાં સરેરાશ વરસાદ ઓછો, દુષ્કાળ સતત પડે. મહત્તમ લોકો સ્થળાંતર કરી ગયેલા. પણ 2006 પછી લોકોએ જળસંચયના કાર્યો ત્યાં શરૃ કર્યા ને આજે લોકો ત્યાં આંબા અને મગફળીની ખેતી કરે છે. જો કે વરસાદ તો આજેય ઓછો છે વર્ષ 2018-19માં આખા જિલ્લામાં માત્ર 272 મિમી વરસાદ જ પડેલો પણ હવે આ ગામના લોકો ટીપેટીપાને બચાવતા થયા છે અને એના લીધે આ ક્રાંતી આવી.

બનાસકાંઠામાં 550 મિમી આસપાસ વરસાદ પડે. ભૂગર્ભજળ ખતરનાક સ્થિતિએ પહોંચ્યા છે. આવામાં ગામના પરંપરાગત જલસ્ત્રોત એવા તળાવો ઊંડા થાય ને વરસાદ અથવા જ્યાં નર્મદાની પાઈપલાઈન કે કેનાલ જે તળાવોની નજીકથી પસાર થાય છે તેનાથી તળાવો ભરાય ટૂંકમાં ટીપે ટીપુ પાણીનું બચે જમીનમાં ઉતરે તો સ્થિતિ સુધરે..

લાખણી વિસ્તારના ઘણા ખેડૂતો કહે, અમારા ત્યાં પહેલાં જે પાક થતા એ પાક હવે નથી થતા. મૂળ ભૂગર્ભના પાણી વધારે ઊંડેથી ઊલેચાવાના લીધે.

અમે બનાસકાંઠામાં જળસંચયના કાર્યો છેલ્લા સાડા પાંચ વર્ષથી કરીએ. આ વર્ષે પણ તળાવોનું કાર્ય આરંભ્યું..

વાવ તાલુકાના ડટાવ ગામનું તળાવ અમે ગામ અને VSSM સાથે સંકળાયેલા Ajmera Realty & Infra India Ltd ની મદદથી શરૃ કર્યું. ગામે 1 લાખથી વધારે ફાળો ખોદકામ માટે આપ્યો ને માટી ઉપાડવાનું તો ખેડૂતોએ પોતાની રીતે કર્યુ. ટડાવના સરપંચ અને આગેવાનો ખુબ સક્રિય અને સૌથી અગત્યનું જાગૃત પણ ખરા. ટડાવની જેમ દરેક ગામ જાગૃત થાય તે આજના સમયની તાતી જરૃર…

It has been a few years since we began water conservation efforts in Banaskantha. As of today, we have deepened 163 lakes. It is not just Banaskantha that requires such interventions; with the depleted water tables, other districts also need intensive water conservation efforts. However, we have our limitations; hence, despite communities calling us to their regions, we cannot reach them.

Amidst all the requests and denials, we had the opportunity to meet respected Shri Pratulbhai Shroff, who invited us to initiate water harvesting and conservation efforts in Sabarkatha’s Poshina.

Shri Pratulbhai is the founder of Dr K. R. Shroff Foundation, an organisation working extensively in education. Poshina is the region where the organisation has been actively involved; we visit and survey the area to understand the ground realities to help us plan better interventions. Eventually, a collective visit to the region also happened.

Poshina is a prominent tribal town towards the east of Gujarat. Although the region receives good rains during the monsoon, sourcing even drinking water becomes challenging during summers. The villagers own agricultural land, but the water insufficiency means there is no means to earn a living during summers when the region becomes dry.

As we transverse through 5 villages, each village shared their water woes and the need to find a solution so that they do not have to escape to the cities. The population here is forced to migrate to urban areas in search of living during the summer months. If there is sufficient water, they can engage in dairy farming and earn a decent living.

We visited Aambamahuda, Tuta-bungalow, Tadhivedhi, Kajawas and Mathasara to have meetings with the village community. We also surveyed the areas capable of holding water.

We have decided to launch the water conservation efforts to deepen lakes, wells and khet talavdi at Aambamahuda village. We also plan to rope in government support in these efforts.

બનાસકાંઠામાં જળસંચયના કાર્યો અમે ઘણા વખતથી કરીએ 163 તળાવો અમે અત્યાર સુધી ઊંડા કર્યા. બસ આ કાર્યો જોઈને અન્ય જિલ્લામાં વસતા ને પાણીના મહત્વને સમજતા લોકો અમારા વિસ્તારમાં પણ જળસંચયનું કાર્ય કરોનું કહે પણ અમારી મર્યાદાના લીધે એ થતું નહોતું.

આવામાં એક દિવસ અચાનક આદરણીય શ્રી પ્રતુલભાઈ શ્રોફને મળવાનું થયું ને એમણે સાબરકાઠાના પોશીના વિસ્તારમાં જળસંચયના કાર્યો કરવા માટે આમંત્રણ આપ્યું.

પ્રતુલભાઈ ડો.કે.આર.શ્રોફ ફાઉન્ડેશનના સ્થાપક. શિક્ષણ ક્ષેત્રે એમની સંસ્થા ખુબ કાર્ય કરે. પોશીના વિસ્તારમાં પણ એમનું ઘણું કાર્ય. પોશીના વિસ્તારને સમજી ત્યાં શું કરવું તે નક્કી કરીશુંનું અમે કહ્યું ને પછી પોશીના એમની ને અમારી ટીમ સાથે જવાનું થયું.

આદિવાસી વિસ્તાર વરસાદ સારો પડે. લોકો પાસે ખેતીલાયક જમીનો પણ ખરી પણ ચોમાસા અને શિયાળામાં પાણી મળે જ્યારે ઉનાળામાં આખો વિસ્તાર સુક્કો ભઠ્ઠ. પીવાનું પાણી મેળવવાય સાંસા.

અમે લગભગ પાંચ ગામો ફર્યા ને દરેક ગામના લોકોએ પાણીની સમસ્યાનું સમાધાન થાય તો અમારે શહેરમાં નાહવું ન પડે એવું કહ્યું.

શહેરમાં નાહવાનું રોજગાર અર્થે થાય. પણ પાણીની યોગ્ય વ્યવસ્થા થાય તો પશુપાલન પણ સારો વિક્લપ બની શકે ને લોકોને પોતાનું વહાલું વતન છોડવું ન પડે એવું પ્રાથમિક દૃષ્ટિએ જણાયું.

અમે આંબામહુડા, ટુટા-બંગ્લો, ટાઢીવેડી,કાજાવાસ, મથાસરા ગામમાં ગ્રામજનો સાથે બેઠક કરી ને ગામમાં પાણીનો સંગ્રહ ક્યાં થઈ શકે તે વિસ્તાર જોયો.

મુલાકાત લીધેલા બધા ગામોમાંથી આંબામહુડામાં તળાવ ઊંડા કરવાથી લઈને, કૂવા ગાળવાનું, ખેતતલાવડી બનાવવાનું કાર્ય હાથ પર લેશું.

આ સિવાય તળાવના કાર્યો સઘન થાય એ માટે સરકારને પણ સાથે જોડીશું.

It is always ‘better late than never.’ At last, the Rain Gods decide to shower their blessings in Gujarat.

In the last five years, VSSM deepened 138 lakes in Banaskantha.

In 2021 VSSM deepened the lake at Suigaum’s Katav village. The lake needed to be deepened because on the banks of it was a borewell by the water supply department that provided water to 13 villages around it.

The deepening of lakes was undertaken with the support of Shroff Family Charitable Trust and the Government’s Sujalam Sufalam Scheme.

It was a joy to witness it fill up to the brim.

ભલે મોડા મોડાય પણ મેઘરાજા પધાર્યા ખરા…

બનાસકાંઠામાં અમે 138 તળાવો છેલ્લા પાંચેક વર્ષમાં ઊંડા કર્યા.

2021માં સૂઈગામના કટાવનું તળાવ ઊંડુ કર્યું. આ તળાવના કિનારે પાણી પુરવઠા વિભાગે બોરવેલ કર્યા ને આજુબાજુના 13 ગામને એ પીવાનું પાણી આપે.

એટલે આ તળાવ તો ઊંડુ કરવું જ રહ્યું…

સરકારની સુજલામ સુફલામ યોજના અંતર્ગત અને VSSMના પ્રિયજન શ્રોફ ફેમીલી ચેરીટેબલ ટ્રસ્ટની મદદથી ખોદયું. જે મોડ મોડેથી મેઘરાજાએ મહેર કરીને ભરાયું…

When rains fail, it is the farmers who face the worst impact.

“Ben, there is hardly any water left for our borewells to draw out.” The farmers complained. It was tough to watch such pathetic condition of individuals who grow our food. The regions where the water of Narmada has reached through the Sardar Sarovar Canal are not undergoing any turmoil but regions like Lakhni, Tharad, Disa, Dhanera are struggling for water.

Farmers from numerous regions are appealing to the government to make provision for the Narmada water to reach their village. VSSM will do the needful and appeal to the government but until that happens we need to plan for our greener future, we are planting trees that help bring rain. VSSM is striving to achieve its goal of making Banaskantha green and water sufficient through a massive tree plantation campaign.

We are planting 7500 trees in Achwadiya village with the support of our dear and respected Krishnakant uncle and Indira auntie. To ensure that each planted tree survives and grows well, we will also appoint a Vriksha Mitr for three years.

Despite changing climate, rising temperatures and dwindling natural resources, we haven’t to value the significant role they play in our existence. It is our responsibility to pass on a planet that is environmentally healthy and blooming with an abundance of natural resources. We need to rewire our environmental priorities and remain committed to achieving those.

વાત અછવાડિયાથી…

ખેડૂતોએ ત્રાહીમામ પોકાર્યું…

બેન અમારા બોર ડચકા લે છે તો કોઈ કહે, અમારા બોરવેલ ફેઈલ થઈ ગયા.. જગતના તાતની આ દશા સાંભળી દુઃખ થાય.

બનાસકાંઠામાં મા રેવાના પાણી પહોંચવાથી ઘણા વિસ્તારને ફાયદો થયો. પણ લાખણી, થરાદ, ડીસા, ધાનેરા વગેરે વિસ્તારો પાણી ઝંખી રહ્યા છે. નર્મદાના પાણી પહોંચે એ માટે ગામે ગામથી ખેડૂતો રજૂઆત કરી રહ્યા છે.

સરકારના કાને એ વાત નાખીશું ને નક્કર કામ થાય તે માટે પ્રયત્નો પણ કરીશું પણ ત્યાં સુધી વરસાદ લાવવામાં ઉપયોગી વૃક્ષોનો ઉછેર થાય તે માટે અમે મથી રહ્યા છીએ.

અછવાડિયાગામના સ્મશાનમાં અમે આદરણીય ક્રિષ્ણકાંત અને ઈન્દિરા મહેતા અમે પ્રેમથી અંકલ આન્ટી કહીએ તેમની અને ગામની મદદથી 7500 વૃક્ષો ઉછેરવાનું કરી રહ્યા છીએ.

વાવેલા વૃક્ષો ઉછરે એ માટે ત્રણ વર્ષ સુધી પગારદાર માણસ પણ રાખીશું.

દુષ્કાળની પરિસ્થિતિ સર્જાય ત્યારે આપણને પાણી અને વૃક્ષોનું મહત્વ વધારે સમજાય છે. પણ મારા ખ્યાલથી આપણે આ દિશામાં ઘણું કરવાનું બાકી છે. આપણી આવનારી પેઢીને સાબદા પાણીના તળ આપવાની સાથે સાથે સૌ સુખેથી રહી શકે તેવું ઓક્સિજન યુક્ત જગત આપવા માટે આપણે કટીબદ્ધ થવાની જરૃર છે.

A positive contagion…

Mittal Patel during Tree-worship ceremony

In association with Mandal’s Sadbhavna Mitr Mandal, VSSM planted around 1500 trees around the village cemetery. VSSM will also nurture and raise these trees. While the plantation was underway, the ones who admired the systematic way of tree plantation initiated cleaning the neighbouring cemetery and began removing the wild growth of the mad-babul tree.

Yesterday while we were in Mandal for the Tree-Worship program, some villagers visited us with a request to help them with tree plantation on the adjoining plot that housed another cemetery. What more could we ask for, we agreed immediately and planned for more collective plantations.

The Tree-Worship ceremony was carried in presence of everyone including Kankrej MLA Shri Kirtisinhji Vaghela, who has always stood beside us in our efforts to help the poor.

VSSM’s Naranbhai has worked hard to make these aspirations a reality. And our regards to the youth of Sadbhavna Mitr Mandal.

I believe the tree to be our most cherished deity, hence worship them for all they bring to us and pray for their proper growth.

હકારાત્મ ચેપ..

માંડલાની સ્મશાનભૂમીમાં અમે ગામના સદભાવના મંત્ર મંડળ, વનવિભાગ અને VSSMની મદદથી 1500 ઉપરાંત વૃક્ષો વાવ્યા અને હા અમે એને ઉછેરવાના તો ખરા જ. સરસ રીતે વવાતા વૃક્ષો જોઈને આ સ્મશાનની બાજુમાં આવેલા અન્ય એક સ્મશાનમાં પણ ગામલોકોએ સ્મશાનમાં ઊગેલો બાવળ કાઢવાનું શરૃ કર્યું.

ગઈ કાલે અમે માંડલામાં વૃક્ષ પૂજનનો કાર્યક્રમ કર્યો તો ગામના કેટલાક લોકોએ બાજુના સ્મશાનને રળિયામણું કરવામાં સંસ્થા મદદ કરશેનું પુછ્યું? અમને તો ભાવતું તુ ને વૈદે કીધા જેવું થ્યું. તુરત હા પાડીને સફાઈ પૂર્ણ થાય પછી ચોક્કસ સાથે મળીને વૃક્ષો ઉછેરીશુનું કહ્યું.

વૃક્ષ પૂજનનો કાર્યક્રમ ગામના સૌએ મળીને કર્યો. કાંકરેજના ધારાસભ્ય શ્રી કિર્તીસિંહજી વાધેલા ખાસ ઉપસ્થિત રહ્યા..તેઓ વંચિતોના કાર્યોમાં સદાય અમારી પડખે…

કાર્યકર નારણભાઈની ભારે મહેનત.. ને સદભાવના મિત્ર મંડળના યુવાનોને પ્રણામ..

વૃક્ષ આપણો સૌથી મોટો ઈષ્ટ દેવ.. આપણને કેટલુ આપે માટે પૂજન ને વૃક્ષ ઉછેરમાં બરકત આપેની પ્રાર્થના….

Mittal Patel visits tree plantation site and everyone prayed together

The youth associated with Juna Deesa’s Ramdevpir Temple requested us to conduct plantation on the temple premises. To safeguard the trees, a boundary wall surrounding the temple was also constructed collectively.

The indents to plant the saplings, bringing and planting the saplings, drip irrigation facility and appointing ‘tree-friend’ was also done collectively by VSSM, Rosy Blue India Private Limited, MNREGA and Department of Forest.

A small prayer to the Nature God is a prerequisite, there was great enthusiasm on the day of pujan, VSSM received a very warm welcome. Everyone prayed together and seeked blessings for the trees and fulfilment of the task on hand.

There is a growing awareness and encouraging response to the tree plantation campaign in Banaskantha, if this continues we will soon have greener and water sufficient Banaskantha.

વૃક્ષ ઉછેર કાર્યક્રમ…

જૂના ડીસાના રામદેવપીર મંદિર સાથે સંકળાયેલા યુવાનોએ મંદિરના પ્રાંગણમાં વૃક્ષો ઉછેરવા અમને વિનંતી કરી.

જગ્યા ફરતે દિવાલ ગામના સૌએ ભેગા મળીને બનાવી. વૃક્ષ વાવવા ખાડા, વૃક્ષો લાવવાનું અને વાવવાનું, પાણી માટે ડ્રીપની વ્યવસ્થા તેમજ પગારદાર માણસને રાખવાનું VSSM રોઝી બ્લુ ઈન્ડિયા પ્રા.લી. તેમજ મનરેગા યોજના અને વનવિભાગના સહયોગથી કર્યું.

વૃક્ષ વાવતા પહેલાં એનુ પુજન તો કરીએ જ.. આ પુજનના દિવસે ગામના સૌએ બહુ પ્રેમથી આવકાર આપ્યો ને સાથે મળીને અમે સૌએ પ્રકૃતિદેવને પ્રાર્થના આ કાર્યમાં બરકત આપજેની કરી..

વૃક્ષોની વાવણીને લઈને બનાસકાંઠામાં સરસ ઉત્સાહ જાગ્યો છે. આવો ઉત્સાહ રહેશે તો બનાસકાંઠાને હરિયાળો બનતા કોઈ રોકી નહીં શકે…
