Mittal Patel addresses nomads at the bhumipujan ceremony

Groundbreaking ceremony

Invited guests included Respected Shri Kaushikbhai Vekaria. A senior from the village Navdhanbapa was given the responsibility to honour the guest with a book and a bouquet of flowers. One person came on the stage with a tray in which the book and the bouquet were kept. Navdhanbapa took the entire tray and gave it to the guest Shri Kaushikbhai. People present were guiding Navdhanbapa how to go about the presentation.He was told to look at the photographer , keep the tray down and give the book and bouquet to the guest.  The same thing happened when honouring other guests MLA Shri Bagsara, the municipal commissioner & other officers. Only when the last two guests were left to be honoured that the correct procedure was followed. 

The incident is a bit light hearted and brought smiles on every one’s face. Our Navdhanbapa confessed that he has never seen so many dignitaries being present  in their community. This was his first experience. 

Totally innocent & honest. 104 families of Amreli district  stayed in Bagasara village for many years. However, they had no identity papers with them.  Respected Shri Devchandbhai Savaliya works in Bagasara Village. He invited us to the village to meet the families and requested us to get these 104 families their identity papers, We managed to get them the identity papers. Based on that we also got them, voter’s card, Aadhar Card, caste certificate, Jan dhan bank account, ration card . Ultimately the plots were allotted and now construction of houses will begin.

The Government was very kind and allotted them the plots. The Government will also give Rs 3.50 lakhs to each family towards the cost of construction. In this regard, the Respected Chief Minister helped a lot. Whatever was still short was funded by VSSM well wisher  respected Shri Kishorebhai Patel in memory of Dear Kushalbhai. With the efforts of the Government & VSSM all the families will get permanent houses. They will move from unsheltered living into habitats of love & care.

The Ground breaking ceremony for the 104 families was performed on 10th March 2024. Respected Shri Kaushikbhai is a kind hearted soul and he remained present. He sought information of all such families  in Amreli who do not have houses so that they can be helped. MLA Shri J V Kakadiya is equally kind hearted. He affirmed that alongwith Smt Jyotsnaben, Municipal Commissioner, they will be available anytime for any help required.

The Collector Shri Kamlesh Nanda is a very soft person and he has been helping us in our various activities and also remained present. He talked about why education is so important. The mamlatdar of Bagsara, the Chief Officer and other officers all remained present on this happy occasion.

The dream of our Rameshbhai to provide houses to these families ultimately was realised. He had worked really hard on this project..We are extremely happy that we have workers like him. The leader of the community Jackybhai & others stood strongly with us to ensure the completion. 

Everyone was busy since morning for the preparatory work of the Ground breaking ceremony. All dressed in new clothes, playing garba and getting rangoli decoration done. The program got over with community lunch.

We are thankful to all who helped VSSM in this mission. We earnestly wish that all without homes in all villages get one very soon.

ભૂમીપૂજનનો કાર્યક્રમ..

કાર્યક્રમમાં ઉપસ્થિત મુખ્ય મહેમાન આદરણીય શ્રી કૌશિકભાઈ વેકરિયા- નાયબ દંડક શ્રીના સ્વાગત માટે નવઘણબાપાને વિનંતી કરુ એ સ્ટેજ પર આવે અને કૌશિકભાઈનું પુસ્તક અને ફુલછડીથી સ્વાગત કરે.

એક ભાઈ ટ્રેમાં પુસ્તક અને ફુલછડી લઈને આવ્યા. ફોટોગ્રાફર જે બાજુ ઊભેલા તેની વિરુદ્ધ ઊભા રહીને બાપાએ પેલાભાઈના હાથમાંથી આખી ટ્રે લઈ લીધી અને સીધે સીધી કૌશિકભાઈને ઘરી. ઉપસ્થિતિ સૌ એમને શીખવી રહ્યા હતા કે ફોટોગ્રાફર સામે જોવાનું ને થોડીવાર ઊભા રહેવાનું. ટ્રે હેઠે મુકી દ્યો ને ખાલી પુસ્તક અને ફુલછડી જ કૌશિકભાઈને આપો..

આવું જ એ પછીના મહેમાનો એટલે ધારાસભ્ય શ્રી બગસરા, નગરપાલિકાના પ્રમુખ અને અન્ય પદાધિકારીઓના સન્માન વખતે થયું. છેલ્લે એક બે વ્યક્તિઓના સન્માન વખતે અમારા પરિવારોને ખ્યાલ આવી ગયો કે ઊભવાનું ક્યાં ને ટ્રે ને નહીં અડવાનું..

વાત જરા રમૂજ જેવી લાગે.. પણ અમારા નવઘણબાપાએ કહ્યું, ‘આ અમારો પેલવેલો અનુભવ અમે ક્યારેય આટલા બધા મોટા માણસોને અમારી વસાહતમાં ભાયળા નથ..’

એકદમ પવિત્ર અને સાચા માણસો.. અમરેલીનું બગસરા 104 પરિવારો વર્ષનો ઘણો ભાગ છેલ્લા કેટલા વર્ષથી બગસરામાં રહે. પણ એમની પાસે ઓળખના આધારોય ત્યાંના ન જડે.

બગસરામાં આદરણીય દેવચંદભાઈ સાવલિયા કામ કરે એમણે અમને ત્યાં આમંત્રીત કર્યા આ બધાને ઓળખાણના આધારો અપાવવા. ને પછી તો મતદારકાર્ડ, આધાર, જાતિ દાખલા. જનઘનમાં ખાતા, રેશનકાર્ડ ને છેલ્લે રહેવા પ્લોટ ફળવાયા. હવે એમના ઘરો બાંધવાનું શરૃ કરીશું.

સરકારે ખુબ લાગણી રાખી એમને પ્લોટ ફાળવ્યા. મકાન બાંધવા પણ પ્રત્યેક પરિવારને સાડા ત્રણ લાખ રૃપિયા આપશે. એ માટે આદરણીય મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી એ ઘણી મદદ કરી. બાંધકામમાં ખુટતા VSSM સાથે સંકળાયેલા અમારા આદરણીય કિશોરભાઈ પટેલ પ્રિય કુશલભાઈની સ્મૃતિમાં આપશે. આમ સરકાર અને સંસ્થાના પ્રયાસથી આ બધા પરિવારો વગડામાંથી વહાલપની વસાહતમાં જશે. 

104 પરિવારોને ફળવાયેલા પ્લોટ પર ભૂમીપૂજન તા. 10 માર્ચ 2024ના રોજ થયું. આદરણીય કૌશિકભાઈ એકદમ સંવેદનશીલ વ્યક્તિ. એ ખાસ ઉપસ્થિત રહ્યા ને આખા અમરેલીમાં આવા ઘરવિહોણા જેટલા પણ પરિવારો છે તેમની વિગત આપવા કહ્યું જેથી તેમને પણ ઘર આપી શકાય.  

ધારાસભ્ય શ્રી જે.વી.કાકડિયા પણ એવા જ લાગણીવાળા એમણે તેમજ નગરપાલિકાના પ્રમુખ શ્રી જ્યોત્સનાબહેને અડધી રાતે જરૃર પડે સાથે રહીશુંનું કહ્યું.

પ્રાંત કલેક્ટર શ્રી કમલેશ નંદા એકદમ ઋજુ હૃદયના અને વર્ષોથી અમારા કાર્યમાં મદદ કરે એ પણ ખાસ હાજર રહ્યા ને ભણતર કેમ જરૃરી એની વાત પરિવારોને કરી. બગસરા મામલતદાર શ્રી, ચીફઓફીસર વગેરે પદાધિકારીઓ ખાસ આ પરિવારોના હરખમાં સામેલ થયા…

અમારા કાર્યકર રમેશભાઈએ વર્ષોથી આ પરિવારોના ઘર થાય એનું સમણું સેવેલું એ સાકાર થયું. એમની મહેનત આ આખા કામમાં ખુબ… એમના જેવા કાર્યકરો અમારી સાથે છે એનો સવિશેષ આનંદ છે.. વસાહતના આગેવાન જેકીભાઈ અને અન્યો પણ આ આખા કામમાં ખડે પગે. 

સવારથી સૌ ભૂમીપૂજનની તૈયારી કરી રહ્યા હતા. સૌએ નવા કપડાં પહેર્યા. ગરબા રમ્યા. રંગોળી કરી ને ભૂમીપૂજનનો કાર્યક્રમ જમણવાર કરી સંપન્ન કર્યો. 

આ કાર્યમાં VSSM ને મદદ કરનાર સૌનો આભાર.  ગામે ગામ ઘરવિહોણા તમામ પરિવારોને ઘર મળે તેવી શુભભાવના…

Do you remember Shambhu ?

He stays in Gutal Village in Kheda District. He lost his parents when he was still an infant.

Grandparents brought him up. Unfortunately he had a protein deficiency syndrome so his grandfather had to take him to the Civil Hospital every month.

Grandfather says that because of Shambhu’s illness he could not construct a proper house. Shambhu studies in Gutal High School.  His absenteeism in the school being quite high, it came to the notice of teacher Shri Parasbhai Dave. Shambhu soon became one of the favourite students of Parasbhai. Through Parasbhai we came to know about Shambhu. In order to support the family, we decided to give a ration kit to them. On seeing the condition of the house , we thought of getting his house done and we got the help from Nilimaben Odedara, Viralbhai Shah, Vikrambhai Shah & others.

After getting his house done we went to Shabhu’s house. Grandpa said ” we had never dreamt that we would have a proper house of our own. We had snakes  in the house. But because now that we have a concrete home, the snakes have also gone away”

When we asked him are you not afraid to stay with snakes in the house, the grandpa said that ” we both stay within our limits. We do our work and the snake does his. Now that there are not many shrubs left in the farm, where will the poor thing go?”. What emotions. Perfect ambassadors of Indian culture. He further said that ” they will not come in such a concrete house. We have therefore put a tap. Snakes would slowly come “

We drank tea that he made on his stove. His financial condition was poor. Yet he performed betelnut puja in the house and provided lunch to several students before entering the house. He wanted a big foyer in the house which we constructed. The level of water underneath the house is quite high so the construction of the house was delayed. Yet because of dampness the color on the walls did not come out properly. Grandpa said that if the house is coloured in April, the colour would last longer. So will get the colour done later.

We give ration to this family every month. Since grandpa is not able to work much he wanted to start a cycle repair shop in which also VSSM helped. The family now is contented. 

Shambhu does not like to study much. When he grows older he also wants to work in the garage. VSSM will also help him in future.

VSSM family is heartily thankful to all who helped in this cause and special thanks to Parasbhai for being instrumental in identifying Shambhu.

શંભુ યાદ છે તમને?

ખેડાના ગુતાલમાં એ રહે. બે મહિનાનો હતો ને પિતા આ દુનિયા છોડી ગયા ને થોડા મહિનામાં મા ગઈ.

દાદા દાદી એને ઉછેરે. પણ નાનપણથી એના શરીરમાં પ્રોટીન ઘટે એટલે દાદા દર મહિને એને સિવીલમાં લઈને દોડે. 

શંભુની બિમારીને લીધે હું પાક્કુ ઘર ન કરી શક્યો. એવું દાદા કહે. ગુતાલની હાઈસ્કૂલમાં શંભુ ભણે. નિશાળમાં સતત ગેરહાજર શંભુ પર શિક્ષક પારસભાઈ દવેનું ધ્યાન પડે ને એ પછી તો શંભુ એમનો ગમતીલો બની ગયો. એમના થકી  અમે શંભુના પરિચયમાં આવ્યા. પરિવારને ટેકો રહે માટે રાશન આપવાનું વિચાર્યું પણ ઘરની સ્થિતિ જોઈને થયું ઘર પણ કરીએ અને મદદમાં આવ્યા. નિલીમબેન ઓડેદરા, વિરલભાઈ શાહ, વિક્રમભાઈ શાહ વગેરે સ્વજનો અને ઘર થઈ ગયું.

ઘર થયા પછી શંભુના ઘરે ગઈ ત્યારે દાદાએ કહ્યું, ‘જિંદગીમાં વિચાર્યું નહોતું કે ઘર થાય. અમારા ઘરમાં નાગ- નાગણ પર રહે. એ બિચારાનું ઘર આ પાક્કુ ઘર થવાથી જતું રહ્યું..’

આ સાંભળીને સાપ સાથે રહો તો બીક ન લાગે એવું પુછાઈ ગયું ને દાદાએ કહ્યું, ‘એ એનું કરે અમે અમારુ. અમે બેઉ એકબીજાની મર્યાદા જાળવીએ.. હવે ખેતરોમાં ઝાડીઓ નથી રહી એ બિચારુ જાનવર ક્યાં જાય..’

કેવો ભાવ… આપણી ભારતીય સંસકૃતિના આ ખરા વાહકો..

એમણે કહ્યું, ‘આ પાક્કા ઘરમાં તો એ રહેવા આવે નહીં તે આ નળ લાવીને નાખ્યા છે એમાં એ ધીમે ધીમે આવી જશે.. 

એમના ચૂલે ચા બનાવીને પીવડાવી.. આર્થિક સ્થિતિ એકદમ ખરાબ છતાં એક સોપારીનો હવન કરીને નિશાળના કેટલાક છોકરાંઓને જમાડીને એમણે ગૃહપ્રવેશ કર્યો. એમની ઈચ્છા મોટા ઓટલાની હતી તે એ અમે બાંધ્યો.. એમની જમીનમાં પાણીનું લેવલ બહુ ઉપર છે. એટલે ઘર બાંધવાનું પણ અમે છેક હમણાં કર્યું. છતાં ભેજના કારણે ઘરને રંગ બરાબર ન થયો. દાદા કહે, તમે એપ્રિલ કે મે મહિનામાં રંગ કરશો  તો રંગ ટકી જશે પછી વાંધો નહીં… તે એ વખતે ફેર રંગ કરીશું.

આ પરિવારને દર મહિને રાશન આપીયે. દાદાથી કામ થતું નથી એમણે સાયકલ રીપેરનું ગેરેજ શરૃ કરવાની ઈચ્છા રાખી તે એમાં VSSM એ મદદ કરી.. આ પરિવારના જીવને હવે હખ છે.

શંભુને ભણવું બહુ ગમતું નથી એ મોટો થઈને ગેરેજ ચલાવવા ઈચ્છે છે.. ભવિષ્યમાં એમાં પણ મદદ કરીશું…

શંભુને રાશન આપવામાં ને એનું ઘર થાય તે માટે મદદ કરનાર આપ સૌ સ્વજનો પ્રત્યે VSSM પરિવાર કૃતજ્ઞતા ભાવવ્યક્ત કરે છે ને પારસભાઈ પ્રત્યે નિમિત્ત બનાવવા માટે રાજીપો…

 ” I want a home in this world where I can go without reason”

This is a line by a famous poet Shri Madhav Ramanuj & it expresses the true feeling of owning a home. As such most in the world have  a concrete house but there are many who in spite of having their own home do not feel the joy of going home. That apart, if we talk of the nomadic tribes there dream of having a home has remained unrealised for generations. They just move around. Sometimes with a donkey in their cart or sometimes with luggage on the camels. They say that summer & winter they can manage but it is the rains that causes most trouble to them. 

It is the mission of VSSM to settle such families , to see that they get properly constructed houses. The state government also sympathises with them and helps to get them a permanent address.

The 18 families of Gadaliya community of Lower Mandal in Morbi have been staying for years in a far flung corner of the village in temporary sheds.  Thanks to the village sarpanch and the support of villagers, they could get land allotted in the village.

Thanks to the sympathetic attitude of the Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel & of the Collector, more than 500 families could get plots for construction of a house. The 18 families of Gadaliya community of Nichi Mandal in Morbi  requested us to construct homes with 2 rooms, toilet, bathroom. The Government will give a grant of Rs 1.32 lakhs per house which is not sufficient to build such a house. We contributed Rs 1.43 lakhs for each home and the balance they took a loan from VSSM. For construction we received financial help from Shri Maheshbhai Shroff ( Novex Poly) , Shri Navinbhai Mehta, Smt Krupaben, Shri Mayurbhai Nayak of Maa-Baap Foundation all from Mumbai. We are really grateful to all of them.

These 18 families will be the first generation that will stay in properly constructed houses. Everyone is extremely happy that their home is being constructed. We pray that good things happen to all.

એક એવું ઘર મળે આ વિશ્વમાં જ્યાં કશા કારણ વગર જઈ શકુ – જાણિતા કવી માધવ રામાનુજે લખેલી કવિતાની આ પંક્તિઓ ઘરની સાચી વિભાવના દર્શાવનારી. આમ તો દુનિયામાં મોટાભાગના પાસે પોતાનું પાક્કુ ઘર છે. પણ પાક્કુ ઘર હોવા છતાં જેમને ઘરમાં જવાનો હરખ ન થાય એવાય ઘરો – માણસો આ દુનિયામાં..

ખેર અમે અમારા વિચરતી જાતિના પરિવારોની વાત કરીએ તો એમની સદીઓ ઘરની ઝંખનામાં જ ગઈ. ગાડાં પર,ક્યાંક ગઘેડાં તો ક્યાંક ઊંટો પર થોડો ઘણો સામાન લઈને બસ ફર્યા કરે. એ લોકો કહે, ‘શિયાળો, ઉનાળો તો નિકળી જાય પણ ચોમાસુ તોબા પોકારાવે..’

આવા પરિવારોને ઠરી ઠામ કરવાનું, તેમને પાક્કુ ઘર મળે તે માટે VSSM પ્રયત્ન કરે. રાજ્ય સરકાર પણ લાગણી રાખી આ પરિવારોને સરનામુ અપાવવા મદદ કરે.

મોરબીનું નીચી માંડલ ગાડલિયા સમુદાયના 18 પરિવારો વર્ષોથી ગામના છેવાડે પતરાંની આડોશ કરીને રહે. સરપંચ અને ગામની લાગણીના લીધે આ પરિવારોને ગામમાં પ્લોટ મળવાનું શક્ય બન્યું. 

મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી ભુપેન્દ્રભાઈ પટેલ તેમજ કલેકટર શ્રીની લાગણી વિચરતીજાતિના પરિવારો માટે ઘણી. એટલે મોરબી જિલ્લામાં વસતા વિચરતી જાતિના 500 થી વધારે પરિવારોને રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ મળ્યા. જેમાંના નીચી માંડલમાં રહેતા 18 ગાડલિયા પરિવારોએ પોતાના બે રૃમ રસોડા, ટોયલેટ બાથરૃમ સાથેના ઘર બાંધવા અમને વિનંતી કરી. સરકારના 1.32 હજાર મળશે એ સિવાય આ પરિવારોએ પોતે પણ પૈસા ઉમેરવા કહ્યું. જો કે પાસે હતા નહીં. અમારી પાસેથી લોન લીધી. એ સિવાય અમે 1.43 લાખની મદદ પ્રત્યેક પરિવારને ઘર બાંધકામ માટે કરીશું. 

ઘર બાંધકામમાં મુંબઈના આદરણીય શ્રી મહેશભાઈ શ્રોફ (નોવેક્ષ પોલી), શ્રી નવીનભાઈ મહેતા, સુશ્રી કૃપાબહેન, શ્રી મયુરભાઈ નાયક(મા-બાપ ફાઉન્ડેશન) ની મદદ મળી.આપ સૌ સ્વજનો પ્રત્યે કૃતજ્ઞતા વ્યક્ત કરીએ છીએ.

નીચી માંડલના ગાડલિયા પરિવારોની આ પહેલી પેઢી જે પોતાના પાક્કા ઘરમાં રહેવા જશે. સૌને પોતાનું ઘર થઈ રહ્યાનો ઘણો હરખ..

The plots have been allotted after much effort to the Bharthari families staying in Raigadh Village of Banaskantha District.  The government will give assistance of Rs 1.32 lakhs for each house. However this is not sufficient to meet the construction cost.

The shortfall will be taken care of by our well wisher respected Shri Nitinbhai S Shah of Heart Foundation. I am thankful to Shri Nitinbhai for this. 

Before we started the construction of the houses of Bharthari families, we invoked the blessings of God. Our associate Tohid along with the sarpanch of the village & other villagers worked hard to make this happen. We now wait for the houses to get ready. After centuries and many generations, these families will get their own concrete homes to live their lives. 

We are thankful to the respected collector for alloting the land and to all the officials for their cooperation..

 “Ever since we got this rice, I haven’t had a peaceful sleep. The rats keep on running around and make cluttering noise with their teeth. The rice bag had to be kept moving and in doing that I couldn’t sleep”.

Tejima from Lotiya Village from Radhanpur in Patan District had told me this about 3 years ago. We had given her all the rice at one stroke and she had no containers to store the rice. She had suffered a lot of inconvenience because of that. After that  Aslambhai, our very dear friend through FaceBook, had helped by gifting the containers. Tejiba got happy seeing the containers and felt as if she had got a dowry in her marriage. 

After a long time I got a chance to meet Tejiba. From a temporary shed she now had a permanent home with a toilet built with the help of our dear Priyankaben Saha.

Tejiba must now be around 76 years old. She has not seen her mother. Her siblings took care of her. She got married and went to her husband’s home. She had to do a lot of hard work there too. Her husband died about 20 years ago. She had to come back to her parent’s home. She has a daughter who got married. Daughter also got widowed & has young kids. 

Tejima said ” I have never seen happiness in my life. You gave me ration and because of that I was saved from undue labour” Tejima’s home had got destroyed in this monsoon. With Priyankaben’s financial help  & the concern of our associates,Mohanbhai & Shankarbhai., we could  provide a home for Tejiba. 

Priyankaben has been generous with her help. Not only this home for Tejiba, she also helped in providing food kits for 15 elderly couples and  in planting 2000 tree saplings. 

Tejima was insisting that I come & see her home. When I visited her home, she was overwhelmed to see me and said she felt  as if her parents had come to her home.  She said that in her old age now she could feel happy. When she didn’t have a home, she wanted to die but now with her having a home she wanted to live for a few more years & enjoy life. The ladies from the neighbourhood joked that Tejima now has everything , rice & dal everyday to eat and a nice home to stay in. Tejima was thankful to us for these changes in her life. Priyankaben, Aslambhai & our VSSM associates have no relations with Tejiba, yet all were worried about her. 

This is humanity. If every person can take care of the person in their neighbourhood who is in difficulty lot of miseries in this world can be eradicated 

We at VSSM give ration (food kits) to such 600 old people and also help in other ways that we can.

પાટણના રાધનપુરના લોટિયાગામના તેજીમાએ આ વાક્ય ત્રણ વર્ષ પહેલાં કહેલું. અમે એક સામટા ચોખા આપી દીધેલા તે ભરવા ડબ્બા નહોતા ને એના લીધે એમને હેરાનગતિ થયેલી.

એ પછી ફેસબુક પર જેમની સાથે મેળાપ થયેલો એવા અમારા પ્રિયજન અસ્લમભાઈ પટેલે ડબ્બા ભેટરૃપે મોકલી આપ્યા.

ડબ્બા જોઈને તેજીમા હરખાઈ ગયેલા એમણે એ વેળા કહેલું, ‘મારુ જાણે આજે આણુ કર્યું હોય એવુ લાગ્યું.’

આજે ઘણા વખતે પાછુ તેજીમાના ત્યાં જવાનું થયું. એ છાપરાંમાં રહેતા એમાંથી એમનું પાક્કુ એક રૂમ, ટોયલેટ સાથેનું ઘર અમે અમારા પ્રિય પ્રિયંકાબેન સહાની મદદથી બાંધ્યું. 

તેજીમાની હાલની ઉંમર 76 આસપાસ હશે. પોતાની માનું મોંઢુ એમણે જોયું નથી. એમના ભાઈ બહેનોએ એમને મોટા કર્યા. પરણીને સાસરે ગયા. કાળી મજૂરી ત્યાં પણ કરી. 20 વર્ષ પહેલાં પતિ ગુજરી ગયા એટલે પિયરીયા એમને તેડી લાવ્યા. એક દિકરી છે. જેને એમણે પરણાવી. એ દીકરી પણ હમણાં વિધવા થઈ એને નાના બાળકો છે. 

તેજીમા કહે, ‘સુખ કોઈ દિવસ જોયું જ નહી. તમે રાશન આપવાનું શરૃ કર્યું તે એનાથી મને શાંતિ થઈ ગઈ. કોઈની ઓશિયાળી વેઠવાની મટી.’

આવા તેજીમાનું છાપરુ આ ચોમાસે પડી ગયું. અમારા કાર્યકર મોહનભાઈ અને શંકરભાઈને એમની ચિંતા તે એમણે આપણે એક રૃમ, ટોયલેટ સાથેનું ઘર બનાવી દઈએ તો તેજીમાને શાંતિ થઈ જશેનું કહ્યું ને પ્રિયંકાબેનની મદદથી અમે એ બાંધ્યું.

પ્રિયંકાબેન અમારા 15 માવતરોને રાશનકીટ આપે. એ સિવાય 2000 વૃક્ષોનું જંગલ કર્યું ને આ ઘર પણ.. 

તેજીમાનો આગ્રહ હતો ઘર જોવા આવવાનો તે ખાસ જવાનું થયું. એમણે માટલી પણ મુકવડાવી. એમણે કહ્યું, ‘જોણ આજે મારુ મામેરુ થ્યું. મારા મા-બાપ મારા ઘરે આયા હોય ઈમ લાગ્યું. તમે ઘરડે ઘડપણ મન સુખ આલ્યું, પેલા થતું ભગવોન લઈ લે તો હારુ પણ હવ ઘર થ્યું. હવ થોડા વરહ કાઢવાનું મન હ્. મેલ્લાની વહુઓ હસીન્ કે ક, તેજીમા તમાર તો ચેવું હારુ દાળ, ભાત રોધીન રોજ ખાવાના, હવ તો ઘરેય થઈ જ્યું. આ બધા માટે તમારા બધાનો ઓભાર માનુ એટલો ઓસો.’

તેજીમાની આંખોમાં ચમક હતી. એમણે પંખો અને એક ખાટલો અમે જઈ રહ્યા ત્યારે માંગ્યો. એ કહે, ‘કોઈ પાહેણ માંગવાનું ગમે નહીં પણ તમે મા ક્યો એટલે કહ્યું… ‘

કેવી લાગણી..

પ્રિયંકાબેન, અસ્મલભાઈ અમારી ટીમ આ બધાની શું સગાઈ તેજીમા સાથે છતાં બધા એકબીજાની ચિંતા કરે..

આમ તો આજ માનવતા.. દરેક વ્યક્તિ પોતાની આસપાસમાં રહેતા તકલીફમાં હોય તેવા વ્યક્તિઓની ચિંતા કરતો થઈ જાય તો પણ આ દુનિયામાંથી ઘણા દુઃખ દુર થઈ જાય.

અમે તેજીમા જેવા 600 નિરાધાર માવતરોને દર મહિને રાશન આપીયે અને અન્ય જરૃરી શક્ય મદદ પણ કરીએ.

Someone asked Vinobaji, What according to you is religion ?

Vinobaji replied its self introspection & service to the poor.

We have many who work to improve the lives of the people in distress. We at VSSM, in a small way, are also involved in service to the poor.

As such under the banner of VSSM we undertake different causes. One of the important work that we do is to assist in building homes for the deprived nomadic tribes.

These tribes have been nomads since centuries and have no identity of their own. We represent their case before the government, give them an identity and then convince the government to allot land. We then play a very important role in the construction of their houses.

In Diyodar village of Banaskantha District we got the land allotted to 134 families after much effort. Even though there was no government land available and in spite of technical difficulties, we managed the allotment because of support of present Collector of Banaskantha Shri Anand Patel & of the Sarpanch of Banaskantha Shri Kiran Kumari Vaghela & interest taken by the village senior Shri GirirajSinh Vaghela.

Our VSSM colleagues Shri Naranbhai & Shri Ishwarbhai did a lot of running around to ensure the allotment of land. Now we have to construct houses for these 134 families. Government will fund Rs 1.32 lakhs per house, we will collect some from the 134 families and the rest we expect to get donations from our well wishers.In short with the support & co-operation of all we will construct wonderful homes.

We did land worship and in that ceremony all the important persons of the village remained present. Everyone wishes that lovely homes are built for these nomadic families

It is so much of a pleasure to see these families settling down in their permanent homes which they could only dream of. If every village can accept the nomadic families it would be ideal. We talk about the World being one large family but there are people in some villages who object to the nomads settling down in their villages. It is very saddening to see this. Diyodar village is different. As such it is a small village. so there is no objection to alloting the land in the village to nomads. But we wish that let every family without the house get one & be happy.

We will soon start the construction of homes for the nomads allotted land at Diyodar.

બાબા તમારી દૃષ્ટિએ ધર્મ એટલે શું?

બાબાએ કહ્યું, ‘આત્મચિંતન અને દરિદ્રનારાયણની સેવા’

આપણા ત્યાં અનેક લોકો જેમને આપણે દરિદ્રનારાયણ કહીએ તેના ઉત્કર્ષના કાર્યોમાં લાગ્યા છે. અમે પણ અમારી રીતે નાનકડો પ્રયત્ન કરીએ.

આમ તો VSSM ના નેજા હેઠળ અમે અનેક વિવિધ સમાજકાર્યો કરીએ. તેમાંનું એક વિચરતી જાતિના, તકવંચિત પરિવારોના ઘર બાંધકામમાં મદદરૃપ થવાનું.

વળી સરનામાં વિનાનાં આ પરિવારો સદીઓ રઝળ્યા હોય. એમના ક્યાંય સરનામાં ન થયા હોય. તેમને પ્રથમ તો સરકારમાં રજૂઆત કરીને અમે રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ અપાવીએ પછી તેના પર ઘર બાંધવાનું કરીએ.

બનાસકાંઠાના દિયોદરમાં 134 ઘર વિહોણા પરિવારોને ઘણા વર્ષોની મહેનત પછી હમણાં પ્લોટ ફળવાયા. દિયોદરમાં ગામતળ કે સરકારી પડતર જમીન ઉલબ્ધ નહીં. ગૌચરની જગ્યા સરકાર ફાળવે નહીં. ઘણી ટેકનીક મુશ્કેલીઓ હતી પણ બનાસકાંઠાના તત્કાલીન કલેક્ટર શ્રી આનંદ પટેલે એમાં ઘણી મદદ કરી ને દિયોદર સરપંચ શ્રી કીરણ કુમારી વાઘેલા અને ત્યાંના રાજવી ગીરીરાજસિંહ વાઘેલાએ ઘણો રસ લીધો. 

અમારા કાર્યકર નારણભાઈ અને ઈશ્વરભાઈની સતત દોડાદોડી પરિણામે 134 પરિવારોને રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ ફળવાયા.

હવે આ પરિવારોના ઘર બાંધવાનું કરવાનું છે. સરકારના 1.32 લાખ આવશે એ સિવાય અમે પણ એમને મદદ કરીશું ને આ પરિવારો પણ પોતાની રીતે થોડા ઘણા ઉમેરશે. ટૂંકમાં સૌના સહિયારા પ્રયાસોથી સરસ ઘરો બંધાશે. 

જે જગ્યા પર ઘર બંધાવાના છે તે જગ્યાનું ભૂમીપૂજન કરવામાં આવ્યું જેમાં દિયોદરના જાગૃત અને સંવેદનશીલ વ્યક્તિઓ ખાસ હાજર રહ્યા. સૌની લાગણી આ પરિવારોના સરસ ઘર બંધાય તેવી. 

ઘર જેમના માટે પરિકલ્પના જેવું છે એ પરિવારોને ધીમે ધીમે એક જગ્યા પર સેટ થતા જોઈને રાજી થવાય છે. દરેક ગામ આવા પરિવારોને અપનાવે તે આદર્શ સ્થિતિ છે. વસુદૈવ કુટુંબકમઃની વાત આપણે કરીએ પણ એમના વસવાટ સામે વિરોધ પણ ઘણા ગામોમાં થાય છે. આ જોઈએ ત્યારે ઘણું દુઃખ થાય છે.

ખેર બનાસકાંઠાનું દિયોદર એ બાબતે નોખુ. આમ તો નાનકડુ શહેર છે એટલે વિરોધ નથી એમ પણ કહી શકાય.

પણ આશા રાખીએ ભવિષ્યમાં દરેક ઘર વિહોણા પરિવારોને ઘર મળે તે સ્થાયી થાય ને સુખ પામે તેવી. 

દિયોદરમાં જેમને પ્લોટ ફળવાયા તેના ઘરો પણ ટૂંક સમયમાં શરૃ કરીશું…

“We will have to meet Ramu Ma in Dudhrej, Surendranagar.” Harshad tells me as we began our travel to the region. And we reach to meet her at her home.

If a rickety charpoy placed under a transparent tarp could be called a home, then this was the home of Ramu Ma. Her belongings were her few vessels, hand-stitched quilts, and mattresses made with collected rags. Harshad calls her medicine bottle, water pot, and charpoy her only tressure.

When Ramu Ma was able-bodied, she would harvest and sell fodder for cattle; whatever little she earned was enough to buy her food for a couple of days. “I would bring potatoes for  Rs. 5 and stretch them for 2-3 days,” the statement shook me.

“Monsoon must be tough on you?” I inquired.

“Oh, the rains drench me completely, and I get busy scooping out water from the tarp roof. If I don’t do that, the entire tarp sheet will fall on my charpoy.” Ramu Ma mentioned.

And the unseasonal rains made us witness the statement she had mentioned.

Ramu Ma lived under deplorable conditions. We offered to build her a house. “No, no. It would cost you a lot,” was her modest reply. Surprisingly, poverty had not made her greedy. It is tough to find honest humans like Ramu Ma. “Do not worry about cost; let us build you one room.” We insisted.

We requested US-based Kishore uncle (Kishorebhai Patel) to help us build a house for Ramu Ma in memory of his son Kushbhai.

I had visited the site to monitor the progress while the house was under construction. “What colour do you want on the exterior walls of your house?” I had asked. Ramu Ma held the maroon dupatta I was wearing and showed me maroon colour. “This!” she said as she picked maroon for her wall. And we got her home painted with the colours she had chosen. I was at Ramu ma’s brand new home when she had her housewarming pooja; VSSM’s Harshad and his wife Jalpa had cooked lapshi, to herald new beginnings. They are the family she has made in this process and like a true son Harshad also takes good care of Ramu Ma.

We are grateful to Kishore uncle for keeping the memory of his son alive in such a noble way, and we decided to name this house ‘Kushal Home.’

Ramu Ma’s treasure is not limited to Khatli (Charpoy), Matli (earthen water pot), dava ni batli (medicine bottle); now she has a beautiful home to call her own.

સુરેન્દ્રનગરના દૂધરેજમાં રામુમા રહે છે આપણે એમને મળશું એવું અમારા હર્ષદે કહ્યું ને અમે પહોંચ્યા રામુમાના ઘરે. 

હર્ષદે ઘર કહેલું પણ ઘરના નામે કશુંયે નહીં એક પારદર્શી મીણિયાની નીચે એક ખાટલો ગોઠવેલો. મર્યાદીત વાસણો, બે ચાર ગાભાના ગોદળા, એક ધાબળો.. આમ તો હર્ષદે એમની જે મૂડી ગણાવી તે એક દવાની બાટલી, એક માટલી ને એ ખાટલી.

રામુમા પહેલાં ઘાસચારો કાપી લાવીને લોકોને વેચતા ને વીસ પચીસ રૃપિયા મળે તેમાંથી એ બે ત્રણ દિવસ ચલાવતા. એમણે કહ્યું કે, પાંચ રૃપિયાના બટેકા લાવુ ને બે દિ ચલાવું. આ સાંભળીને જ મન અસ્વસ્થ થઈ ગયેલું. 

ચોમાસામાં તો બહુ તકલીફ પડતી હશે ને? જવાબમાં રામુમાએ કહ્યું, વરસાદ પડે તો હું ભીના ભીના લુગડે પાણી ઉલેચુ. જો પાણી છાપરાંમાંથેથી ન ઉચેલું તો મીણિયું ખાટલા માથે પડે. એમણે આ કહેલું પણ આ કમોસમી વરસાદના લીધે અમે એ સ્થિતિ જોઈ પણ લીધી. 

સ્થિતિ અત્યંત દયાજનક. અમે એમનું ઘર બાંધી આપવા કહ્યું તો એમણે પહેલાં તો ના પાડી અને કહ્યું, એ માટે કેટલા બધા પૈસા થશે…

જરાય લાલચ નહીં.. આવા વ્યક્તિઓ ખુબ ઓછા જોવા મળે. અમે કહ્યું ભલે ખર્ચાય પણ એક ઓરડી કરી દઈએ. ને પછી અમેરીકામાં રહેતા અમારા કિશોર અંકલે (કિશોરભાઈ પટેલ) એમના દિકરા કુશલભાઈની યાદમાં રામુબાને ઘર બનાવી આપવાની કહ્યું. 

ઘર બનતું હતું ત્યારે જોવા ગઈ ત્યારે પુછેલું રામુમા ઘરને કેવો કલર કરવો છે? એ દિવસે મે મરૃણડ્રેસ પહેરેલો તે મારા ડ્રેસનો દુપટ્ટો પકડી કહે મરુણ કરજો.એમની ઈચ્છા પ્રમાણે ઘરની બહાર મરૃણ ને અંદર સફેદ રંગ કર્યો. 

ઘરમાં માટલી મૂકવાની હતી ત્યારે અમે ગયા. કાર્યકર હર્ષદ ને એની પત્ની જલપાએ કંસાર રાંધ્યો હતો. આમ  તો એ ખરો દીકરો ઘણું ધ્યાન રાખે રામુમાનું.

કીશોર અંકલનો ઘણો આભાર. એમના દીકરા કુશલભાઈને એમણે આ રીતે જીવંત રાખ્યા. અમે પણ રામુબાના ઘરને કુશલ હોમ એવું નામ આપ્યું.

હવે રામુમાની મુડી એક ખાટલી,એક માટલી ને દવાની એક બાટલી ન રહી. હવે એમનીપાસે સુંદર ઘર છે.

Anywhere we travel around the world, be it for work or leisure, we all look forward to coming back home. A home is a place all our pain and worries come to rest; home is a place we can just be! However, only some are lucky to own a house. VSSM has been instrumental in giving the happiness of a house to many families belonging to nomadic and denotified communities.

Until now, VSSM has been successful in building homes for 1500 families. The houses have been constructed with the support of the government or VSSM’s well-wishing donors. In some instances, even the beneficial families have contributed to the process. These collective efforts resulted in the construction of these 1500 houses.

When we first met the Vansfoda families living in Banaskantha’s Tadav village, none had identity documents. These documents helped bring identity to otherwise nameless humans. All they required now was a permanent address they could call home. The families and we had been striving for years to obtain residential plots. Finally, in 2023 after working tirelessly for not 3-4 but 16 years, these families now have a permanent addresses.

The phrase, ‘things happen when they are destined to happen,’ came to life in the case of these Vansfoda families.

After our dear Jaybhai Goswami took charge of Vav’s BDO, he had mentioned on a call to let him know if we needed his help to resolve issues about Vav’s block. So we mentioned these families of Tadav and requested his help to find a solution to this long pending issue.

Jaybhai and his team were swift in their action. Within short period, 13 families were allotted residential plots, and Rs 1.20 lacs as house construction aid under Pradhan Mantri Awas Scheme was also processed. However, assistance for sanitation units under MNREGA is still awaited. In short, the 9 Vansfoda families will receive Rs. 13,32,000 to construct their dream homes. While the amount will cover a substantial part of the construction cost, more is needed to build a proper house. Hence the remaining Rs. 7,08,750 has been provided by our well-wishing friend Shri Dharmenbhai Shah who believes that a suitable house is the first step to success. We are grateful to him and his family for their support. In current times,  compassion is a rare quality which makes this family a rare one.

The collective contribution from the government, VSSM-affiliated Shri Dharmenbhai, Jayshreebahen Shah, the ex-sarpanch of Tadav Shri Pravinsinh Rajput has enabled these families to become first-generation homeowners.

Jaybhai is very empathetic towards the needs of such poor communities; hence when it comes to resolving their issues, he showcases tremendous proactiveness. For example, he immediately made water facilities for construction, or else we would have had to buy water. This also led to access to water for these families. Similarly, he has also planned to build connecting roads and bring electricity to the settlement. His officials have also applied for a community hall at the settlement.

Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, the District Collector of Banaskantha, DDO, the revenue officer, and numerous officials and their teams have played pivotal roles in building this settlement. I am thankful for the support we have received.

On 2nd April, 2023, the families hosted housewarming ceremonies. The atmosphere was brimming with joy and cheer. Women were dancing to their heart’s content on the beats of the dhol. “We had lost hope and weren’t expecting to live in our own house during this lifetime. We are grateful for all the support we have found in you!” Padmabhai shared.

We also take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped financially and physically. Unfortunately, I cannot mention each of you here, but your support has made this possible.

VSSM‘s Bhagwanbhai Raval and Naranbhai Raval played crucial roles throughout this process. Bhagwanbhai has remained constantly with these families, from preparing their documents to explaining the procedures to them; he played his role efficiently.

“Ben, give us many trees; our Shitla Maa loves shade-giving trees. We will also need to replace 3-4 jujube trees we had to remove while building the houses!” Padmabhai had expressed during the ceremony.

Such thoughtfulness needs to be revered. We pray for the happiness and prosperity of these families. The other four families have also received plots; we will now get on to build their homes too

આખી દુનિયા કામ માટે કે આનંદ માટે ફરીયે પણ થોડાક જ દિવસોમાં આપણને આપણું ઘર યાદ આવે. ઘર એ આપણા થાકનું સરનામુ છે. આપણને વિશ્રામ આપે છે. 

પણ આ દુનિયામાં એવા ઘણા વ્યક્તિઓ છે જેમની પાસે પોતાના ઘરનું સુખ નથી. અમે વિચરતી જાતિના પરિવારોને આવું સુખ અપાવવામાં નિમિત્તે બનીએ. 

અત્યાર સુધી ગુજરાતના વિવિધ ઠેકાણે રહેતા 1500 પરિવારોને ઘર અપાવવામાં અમે નિમિત્ત બન્યા. આ ઘર બાંધકામમાં ક્યાંક સરકારની સહાય મળી તો ક્યાંક સહાય ન પણ મળી ત્યાં VSSM સાથે સંકળાયેલા સ્વજનોએ મદદ કરી. ઘણામાં લોકોએ પોતે પણ પોતાનાથી થાય તે ઉમેરો કર્યો. ટૂંકમાં સહુના સહિયારા પ્રયાસથી ઘર બંધાયા. 

બનાસકાંઠાનું ટડાવગામ. વાંસફોડા વાદી પરિવારો ત્યાં વસે. સૂડલાં ટોપલાં બનાવીને વેચવાનું કરતા આ પરિવારોને જ્યારે પહેલીવાર મળેલા ત્યારે તો એમની પાસે ઓળખના આધારો પણ નહોતા. એ બધુ કઢાવી આપી આ આળખાણ વગરના માણસોને ઓળખાણવાળા કર્યા. હવે જરૃર હતી પોતાના કાયમી સરનામાંની અને એ મળે તે માટે મહેનત તો વર્ષોથી કરતા. વળી આ વર્ષો એટલે બે પાંચ વર્ષ નહીં પણ સોળ વર્ષ મહેનત કરી ત્યારે જતા 2023માં આ પરિવારો ઘરવાળા થયા.

આમ તો આપણે ગમે તેટલું મથીયે પણ જ્યારે લખ્યું હોય ત્યારે જ આ બધુ થાય. એ વાંસફોડા પરિવારોના કિસ્સામાં તદન સાચુ ઠર્યું. 

વાવ તાલુકા વિકાસ અધિકારી તરીકે પ્રિય જયભાઈ ગોસ્વામી આવ્યા. એ અમારા કામથી પરીચીત એમણે વાવનો પદભાર સંભાળ્યા પછી ફોન પર વાવ વિસ્તારમાં વિચરતી જાતિના પરિવારોની મુશ્કેલીઓ હોય તો મને જણાવજો એવું કહેલું ને વર્ષોથી સરકારી કચેરીમાં ધરબાયેલું ટડાવના વાંસફોડા પરિવારોને સરનામુ અપાવવાનું કામ એમને કહ્યું.

એમણે અને એમની ટીમે પછી તો જબરો ઉપાડો લીધો. ટૂંક સમયમાં 13 પરિવારોને રહેણાંક અર્થે પ્લોટ ફાળવ્યા અને પ્રધાનમંત્રી આવાસ યોજના અંતર્ગત એકદમ ઝડપથી 1.20 લાખ એમણે આપી દીધા. હજુ શૌચાલય અને મનરેગા અંતર્ગત પણ સહાય મળશે. ટૂંકમાં સરકાર તરફથી 13,32,000 નવ પરિવારોના ઘર બાંધકામ માટે મળશે. આમ તો મોટાભાગની રકમ મળી ગઈ.

પણ આટલી રકમમાંથી ઘર ન બને. ખૂટતી રકમ 7,08,750 અમારા પ્રિય સ્વજન અને મુંબઈમાં રહેતા ધર્મેનભાઈ શાહે આપી. ધર્મેનભાઈ પોતે ઘરને માણસની પ્રગતિનું પ્રથમ સોપાન માને એટલે એમણે આ નવ પરિવારોના ઘર બાંધકામમાં સહયોગ કરવાનું નક્કી કર્યું. તેમના અને તેમના પરિવારના અમે સૌ ઘણા આભારી. વંચિતોની પીડા સમજનાર આ દુનિયામાં બહુ જૂજ એ રીતે આ પરિવારો નોખો… 

આમ સરકાર અને VSSM સાથે સંકળાયેલા પ્રિય સ્વજન ધર્મેનભાઈ, જયશ્રી બહેન શાહ અને ખાસ ટડાવગામના સમગ્ર ગ્રામજનો અને તેમના જાગતલ ભૂતપૂર્વ સરપંચ શ્રી પ્રવિણસિંહ રાજપૂતની લાગણીથી આ પરિવારો ઘરવાળા થયા. 

જયભાઈની તકવંચિતો માટેની સંવેદના બહુ નોખી. એમણે આ વસાહતમાં પાણીની સુવિધા તત્કાલ કરાવી નહીં તો ઘર બાંધવા અમારે વેચાતુ પાણી ખરીદવું પડત. વળી આ નિમિત્તે આ પરિવારોને પાણીનું સુખ થઈ ગયું. વાત હવે આવી વીજળી અને વસાહતને મુખ્ય માર્ગ સાથે જોડતા રોડની તો એ માટે પણ એમણે આયોજન કરી દીધુ. સાથે કમ્યુનીટી હોલ આ વસાહતમાં બંધાય એ માટે પણ એમણે સરકારમાં દરખાસ્ત કરી દીધી.  

મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી ભુપેન્દ્રભાઈ પટેલ, બનાસકાંઠા કલેક્ટર શ્રી, જિલ્લા વિકાસ અધિકારી ટૂંકમાં આવા જાગતલ અધિકારી અને એમની સાથેની ટીમ, તલાટી શ્રીથી લઈને સૌનો સહયોગ આ કાર્યમાં ઘણો અને એટલે જ આ કાર્યો થયા. તેમના પ્રત્યે કૃતજ્ઞતાભાવ વ્યક્ત કરુ છું.

આ પરિવારોને ગૃહપ્રવેશ તા. 2 એપ્રિલ 2023ના રોજ થયા. બધા પરિવારો ખુબ રાજી. ઢોલ વગાડી એમણે સૌનું સ્વાગત કર્યું. બહેનો મન મુકીને નાચ્યા. પદમાભાઈ કહે, “આ જન્મારે ઘર થશે એવી આશા નહોતી. પણ થયું. એમણે સૌનો ઘણો આભાર માન્યો.”

આ કાર્યમાં જેમણે પણ આર્થિકથી લઈને શારિરીક મદદ કરી તે સૌની આભારી છું. બધાના નામો નથી લખી શકી પણ તમે સાથે રહ્યા એટલે આ થઈ શક્યું.

અમારા કાર્યકર ભગવાનભાઈ રાવળ અને નારણભાઈ રાવળની ભૂમિકા આમાં ખુબ મહત્વની રહી. ભગવાનભાઈ તો આ પરિવારોની સાથે સતત રહ્યો. તેમના કાગળિયા તૈયાર કરવાથી લઈને જરૃર પડી ત્યાં આ પરિવારોને સમજાવવામાં પણ તેમની ભૂમિકા મુખ્ય રહી. 

ગૃહપ્રવેશ પછી પદમાભાઈએ કહ્યું, “બહેન ઝાડખા ખુબ આપજો. અમારા શીતળામાને ઝાડખા ગમે અમારા ઘર બાંધકામ નિમિતે બે ચાર બોરડીઓ કાઢવી પડે તે સામે ઘણા વાવવા પડશે ને..”

તેમની આ સમજણને પણ અમારા પ્રણામ…બસ નવા ઘરમાં સૌ સુખી થાવ ખુબ પ્રગતિ કરોની શુભભાવના સાથે 9 પછી 4 પરિવારોને પ્લોટ મળ્યા તેમના ઘરો પણ ઝટ કરીશું.

Pain and adversity can never last forever; they too shall pass if the individual keeps the faith, puts in the required efforts, and remains persistent!

The first time we met the families of the Gadaliya community of Morbi‘s Charadva, they mentioned their life shrouded in darkness; accomplishing their aspiration to own a home was the light they eagerly awaited. But unfortunately, they have failed to find that light themselves, but gathering funds to make pucca house a reality could not happen.

Gadaliya community are ironsmiths and practice the generations-old traditional occupation of making ironware. Many have advised them to pick up new skills and trades, but the families need more preparation to make that shift. As a result, it is difficult for the current and older generation to learn new skills or invest time in learning those skills. The new generation may work towards honing time-appropriate skills, but the elders have no option but to live within limited means.

VSSM strives to help such homeless families find a permanent address, a pucca home. VSSM’s Kanubhai and Chayaben helped gather the required documents and facilitated the application process for these families. Finally, with the support of the respected Prime Minister, the District Collector of Morbi, and the gram panchayat of Charadva village, the 21 families living in Charvada received residential plots. 

After receipt of the plots, the next step was finding funds to build a decent house. The government aid of Rs. 1.32 lacs remains inadequate; we can provide the entire support; however, the owners of the house should also contribute. The families shelled out Rs. 1 lac each, and we provided the rest Rs. 1.25 lacs. The collective contribution would enable build a two bedroom + kitchen + attached sanitation unit for each family. 

Neogan Chemical Ltd. has agreed to support the construction of these homes. Respected Binabahen and Harishbhai Kanani are very sensitive and supportive human beings. “If I had it my way, no one would remain homeless!” Binabahen shares. I call her Maa and am fortunate to receive her warmth and love.

I am grateful to the Kanani family for their support.

The Gadaliya families cannot save and contribute; hence, they have taken a loan of Rs. 1 lac each. “Building a house happens once in a lifetime; the loan can be repaid in instalments, but you cannot build a house in instalments!” a wise community elder shared. 

The upcoming Niyojan Nagar in Charadva will bring light to the lives of Gadaliya families. With the completion of these homes, VSSM would have facilitated the construction of 1500 houses, meaning providing permanent addresses to 1500 families.

કોઈ પણ દુઃખ કાયમ હોતું નથી. બસ દુઃખ દૂર થાય તે માટે મહેનત અને એક શ્રદ્ધા માણસ પોતાનામાં રાખે તો એક દિવસ અંધારુ આઘુ ખસે છે ને પછી ચોમર અજવાસ…

મોરબીના ચરાડવામાં રહેતા ગાડલિયા પરિવારોને જ્યારે પહેલીવાર મળ્યા ત્યારે તેમણે જીવતર આખુ  અંધકારમાં જ વીત્યાનું કહ્યું. એમને જે અજવાસ જોઈતો હતો તે ઘરરૃપી. ઘરની ઝંખાના પુર્ણ થાય એ માટે એ મથ્યા ઘણું. પણ બે પૈસા ભેગા ન કરી શક્યા.

લોખંડમાંથી તવી, તાવેતા, ચીમટા બનાવીને વેચવાનું એ કરતા અને એ માટે વિચરણ પણ પેઢીઓથી કરતા આવ્યા.

ઘણા કહે, હવે કાંક નવો ઘંઘો કરો અથવા શીખો.. પણ એ માટેની માનસીક તૈયારી આ પરિવારોની નહીં. અત્યાર સુધી આવું કશું કર્યું જ નહોતું એટલે જુનુ જે કરે એ છોડવા તૈયાર નહીં. આમ પણ નવું શીખવામાં સમય જાય. નવી પેઢી નવુ અપનાવશે પણ જુની પેઢી માટે નવું અપનાવવું મુશ્કેલ. એટલે મર્યાદીત આવકમાં જીવવાનું. આમાં ઘર તો ક્યાંથી થાય.

આવા ઘરવિહોણા પરિવારોનું પોતાનું સરનામુ થાય એ માટે અમે મથીએ. અમારા કાર્યકર કનુભાઈ અને છાયાબહેને આ પરિવારોને પ્લોટ મળે તે માટે અરજી કરી અને ખૂટતા આધાર પુરાવા પણ કઢાવ્યા. 

આખરે મુખ્યમંત્રી શ્રી તેમજ કલેક્ટર શ્રી મોરબી, તેમજ ચરાડવા ગ્રામપંચાયતની લાગણીથી ચરાડવામાં રહેતા 21 પરિવારોને પ્લોટ મળ્યા. 

પ્લોટ મળ્યા પછી વાત આવી ઘર બાંધવાની. સરકારની સહાય 1.32 લાખમાં ઘર બનવું મુશ્કેલ. અમે મદદ કરીએ પણ જેમનું ઘર બને તે પણ પોતાની રીતે પૈસા કાઢે એવી અમારી લાગણી. આ પરિવારોએ પણ લાખ રૃપિયા કાઢ્યા. અમે 1.25 લાખની મદદ કરી. આમ 3.57 રૃપિયાના ખર્ચે બે રૃમ રસોડુ. ટોયલેટ અને બાથરૃમ વાળુ સરસ ઘર તૈયાર કરવાનું નક્કી કર્યું. 

આ પરિવારોના ઘર બાંધકામ માટે અમને નિયોજન કેમકલ લી. કંપનીએ મદદ કરી. આદરણયી બીનાબહેન કાનાણી અને હરિશભાઈ કાનાણી બેઉ બહું લાગણીશીલ. બીનાબહેનને તો હું મા કહુ એ લાગણી પણ એવી રાખે. એ કહે, મારુ ચાલે તો એક પણ માણસને હું ઘર વગરનો ન રાખુ.

આવી સુંદર ભાવના રાખનાર કાનાણી પરિવારનો આભાર. 

ગાડલિયા પરિવારો પાસે લાખ રૃપિયા કાઢવાની સગવડ નહીં. એ માટે એમણે અમારી પાસેથી લોન લીધી. પણ એ કહે, ઘર એક વખત થાય. મહેનત કરીશું તો લોન તો કાલ ઉતરી જાશે. પણ વારેવારે ઘરને ઠીગડા નથી દેવાતા.

ચરાડવામાં બંધાઈ રહેલું નિયોજન નગર… જેમાં ગાડલિયા પરિવારો વધુ સુખ પામશે..

તેમની આ વહાલપની વસાહત પૂર્ણ થતા 1500 ઘર વિહોણા પરિવારોના ઘર બાંધવાનો આંકડો પાર કરીશું. 

આ કાર્ય માટે ઘણા સ્વજનોએ મદદ કરી એ માટે સૌની આભારી છું.

“Our generations have spent their lives wandering in these carts. Our settlements are away from the village, devoid of basic infrastructural facilities. Drinking water needs to be fetched from a distance; even our hair has withered away from the scalp due to lugging water pots from a distance. There is no electricity, so monsoons become particularly difficult when scorpions and snakes roam wild on the ground. It is dangerous to even step off the bed at night.”

Bhavnaben and Bhupatbhai Gadaliya living in Chrdava village of Morbi’s Halvad block, shared their plight. The duo and other 27 Gadaliya families like them wander to earn their living as ironsmiths and bullock traders. In these evolving times, the need for such professional skills has diminished, and these families must look for options to lead a settled life. The 27 Gadaliya families live in a settlement in Chrdava on a government wasteland.

VSSM strives to ensure the nomadic, denotified, and marginalized communities enjoy their fundamental human rights; part of those efforts is to help these homeless families move into their own houses. VSSM presented the case of Chrdava families to the district collector of Morbi and ensured they were allotted residential plots.

The Chrdava Gram Panchayat is one of those rare panchayats that have agreed to allow these families to settle in their village.

Once the plots are allotted, these low-income families struggle to build decent houses with the government aid they receive. However, with. the current construction rates, making the 2BHK house of their dreams with Rs. 1.20 lacs for house building and Rs. 12,000 for sanitation unit aid is impossible for these families. “Building a house is once in a lifetime phenomenon, and we wish to build a strong one; give us a loan we will gradually repay it,”  the families request some help.

VSSM intends to offer a loan of Rs. 1 lac and one-time support of Rs. 1.25 lacs to each family to equip them to build the house of their aspirations.

Neojan Chemical Ltd Co. will help VSSM support these families to construct houses. Respected Binabahen Kanani and Shri Harishbhai Kanani are very dear to us. In fact, I address Binabahen as Maa. They adore our work hence, decided to help us with this need. We have decided to name the upcoming  Gadaliya colony –  Neojan Nagar.

On 20th  January 2023, a ground-breaking ceremony was organized, and local MLA Shri Prakashabhai Varmora remained present and showered his best wishes to the families. The panchayat members also remained present at the occasion. Construction for 21 houses has commenced; once the remaining six families receive their documents for plots, the construction for their homes will also begin.

Prime Minister Shir Narendrabhai Modi has pledged to provide a pucca house to each homeless family; however, the budget allocated by the government isn’t enough. In such circumstances, if corporates like Neojan Chemicals and wealthy individuals come forward and donate generously, we can build houses for many homeless families.  

VSSM has decided to build 500 houses in 2023-24; I request you all to contribute with an open heart.

Our gratitude to the generosity of Neojan Chemicals, whose help will enable Gadaliya families to move into their cherished abodes.

Thus far, VSSM has built homes for 1500 families and pledges to take up more.

“આ ગાડા પર ભમતા ભમતા અમારી પેઢીઓ ગઈ. જ્યાં ડંગા નાખીયે ત્યાં આજુબાજુમાં પાણીયે નો મળે. આખી જીંદગી માટલા ઉપાડી ઉપાડીને અમારા ટાલકામાંથી વાળેય ખરી ગ્યા. લાઈટો અમારા છાપરાંમાં ક્યાં જડે? ચોમાસામાં તો બઉયે બીક લાગે. સાપ,વીંછી, એરુ આંયા નીચે જ રખડે એટલે ખાટલામાંથી હેઠે પગ મુકતા બીક લાગે. બહુ વિપદા પડે..”

મોરબીના હળવદના ચરાડવામાં રહેતા ભાવનાબહેન અને ભૂપતભાઈ ગાડલિયાયે આ બધી વાતો કરી. લોખંડમાંથી ઓજારો બનાવવાનું, બળદો વેચવાનું કામ એ ને એમના જેવા અન્ય 27 ગાડલિયા પરિવારો કરતા ને એ માટે ભ્ર્મણ કર્યા કરે. પણ હવે જમાનો બદલાયો વિચરણનો અર્થ ન રહ્યો. છેલ્લા ઘણા વર્ષોથી આ બધા પરિવારો ચરાડવામાં સ્થાયી થયા. પણ કાયમી જમીન એમને ન મળે.

અમે વિચરતી વિમુક્ત જાતિઓ તેમજ અન્ય વંચિત સમુદાયોને માણસ તરીકેના તમામ અધિકારો મળે તે માટે પ્રયત્નો કરીએ. સાથે જમીન વિહોણા પરિવારોને રહેવા પ્લોટ મળે તે રજૂઆત પણ કરીયે. ચરાડવાના આ પરિવારોની વાત પણ કલેક્ટર શ્રી મોરબી પાસે કરી અને તેમને પ્લોટ ફાળવાયા.

ચરડાવાની પંચાયત પણ ખુબ સારી. આવી પંચાયતો જૂજ છે જે સામેથી વિચરતી જાતિના પરિવારોને પોતાના ગામમાં અપનાવવા રાજી થાય.

ખેર પ્લોટ મળ્યા પછી વાત આવી મકાન બાંધવાની. આર્થિક સ્થિતિ આ પરિવારોની મોળી. વળી 1.20 લાખ મકાન બાંધકામના મળે ને શૌચાલયના 12,000. આમાં કાંઈ જોઈએ એવું ઘર ન બને. 

વળી આ પરિવારોને બે રૃમ રસોડાનું ઘર બંધાય તેવી હોંશ. એમણે કહ્યું તમે મદદ કરો એ સિવાય અમને લોન આપો જે અમે ધીમે ધીમે ભરી દઈશું. પણ ઘર એક વખત થાય. અમારે મજબૂત ઘર કરવું છે.

કેવી ઉત્તમ ભાવના. 1 લાખની લોન અમે એમને આપીશું. એ સિવાય લગભગ 1.25 લાખની મદદ પ્રત્યેક ઘર દીઠ કરીશું જેથી એમનું સુંદર મજાનું, એમની કલ્પના મુજબનું ઘર થાય.

VSSM ને આ પરિવારોના ઘર બાંધકામ માટે નિયોજન કેમીકલ લી. કંપની મદદ કરશે. આદરણીય શ્રી બીનાબહેન કાનાણી અને શ્રી હરીશભાઈ કાનાણી આ બેઉ પ્રિયજન. બીનાબહેનને તો હું મા કહુ. એમને અમે જે કાર્યો કરીએ એ ખુબ ગમે. એટલે એમણે મદદ કરી. તે બસ આ ગાડલિયા પરિવારોનું નગર બનશે તેને નિયોજન નગર નામ આપીશું. 

તા.20 જાન્યુઆરીના રોજ નિયોજન નગરના ભૂમીપૂજનનો કાર્યક્રમ આયોજીત કર્યો. જેમાં સ્થાનીક ધારાસભ્ય શ્રી પ્રકાશભાઈ વરમોરા હાજર રહ્યા તેમણે આ પરિવારોને ઘણી શુભેચ્છા આપી. આ સિવાય પંચાયતના સદસ્યો પણ હાજર રહ્યા. 27માંથી 21 પરિવારોના ઘરોનું બાંધકામ શરૃ કર્યું. બાકીના છ પરિવારોને હજુ પ્લોટની સનદ મળવાની બાકી છે એ મળે એટલે એમના ઘરો પણ બાંધીશું. 

નિયોજન કેમીકલ લી. ની જેમ અન્ય કંપનીઓ પણ સાથે આવીને ઊભી રહે તો કેટલાય ઘરવિહોણા પરિવારોના ઘર બની જાય. 

વડાપ્રધાન શ્રી નરેન્દ્રભાઈ મોદીએ પણ તમામ ઘરવિહોણા પરિવારોને ઘર આપવાનું સ્વપ્ન સેવ્યું. સરકાર એ માટે બજેટ પણ ફાળવે પણ એ પુરતુ નથી આવામાં જુદા જુદા કોર્પોરેટ એવા લોકો કે જેમને ઈશ્વરે ઘણું આપ્યું છે એ લોકો આગળ આવે તો આવા ઘણા પરિવારોના ઘર બાંધવાનું કરી શકાય.

2023-24માં 500 ઘરો બાંધવાનો સંકલ્પ છે. આ સંકલ્પને પૂર્ણ કરવા વ્યક્તિગત રીતે અને કંપનીને રૃએ સૌને જોડાવવા વિનતી કરુ છું.

બાકી ચરાડવાના આ ગાડલિયા પરિવારો હવે વગડામાંથી વહાલપની વસાહતમાં જશે.

VSSM એ અત્યાર સુધી 1500 પરિવારોના ઘર બાંધ્યા. હજુ વધુ બાંધવાની નેમ છે. નિયોજન કેમીકલ લી.નો ઘણો આભાર ને અન્યોને જોડાવવા આહવાન..
