Asha arrived at our hostel with aspirations to become a doctor one day, she secured 93.47 percentile. Sanjana dreams herself of being a Bank Manager, Math grades were not as expected but her percentile is very good too.
VSSM operates two hostels, one each for girls and boys. This year 11 girls appeared for class 10th board examinations of whom 10 cleared their exams while 16 of the 25 boys who had appeared for the 10th boards cleared the exams. As always, girls out-performed boys. Our Khuma shined with her performance.

Many of our children who appeared for the 10th boards this year are interested in taking up government jobs, they are working hard to realise their aspirations of securing these positions. VSSM will ensure these children receive all the required support to realise their career goals.

The children from the
nomadic and
de-notified communities who arrive at the hostels after having gone to government schools in their respective village are extremely poor at their reading writing skills. Unfortunately, a class 7 child can barely read or write to the expected level.
Jaya who now is into 3rd year of graduation says, “Didi, I did not even know how to read until 7th grade. I began learning after arriving at the hostel where I had worked on my fundamentals.” Today, Jaya is a college topper in Sociology.
Once the child is enrolled in one of our hostel’s, begins the exercise of bringing the child at par with the expected level of learning, to prepare them for 10th grade is the toughest part. Under the leadership of Dimpleben, VSSM’s
education team comprising of Vanita, Pravin, Kokila, Valji, Bijol, Kiranm Vijay, Nareshbhai work tirelessly and passionately. And the results of their efforts are visible with the performance of children both in academics and co-curricular activities.
One has to be fortunate enough to have a team as dedicated and hardworking as ours. VSSM is blessed with a wonderful team. Also crucial is the support of donors and well-wishers that enables us to continue on our journey.
Our children attend private schools when they are at the hostel, the teachers of these schools have played an integral part in educating and training them well. We shall always be grateful to respected Shri. Muktbhai, Shri. Harshbhai and the Principal Ms Hetalbahen of H. B. Kapadia school our girls attend. Our children were like rough diamonds, their teachers nurtured and brought out the spark in them. We also received similar support from the Trustees and staff of Paras School our boys attend. We will remain eternally grateful to you all.
Our insistence of bringing better results in grade 10th is because there are many children who may not be able to cope with the academic requirements of 11th and 12th grades. Once gauging their inclination and preference, we enrol these children in various technical-vocational courses that require a child to have cleared 10th grade.

આ વખતે 11 દીકરીઓએ ધો.10ની પરીક્ષા આપી જેમાંથી 10 દીકરીઓ પાસ થઈ જ્યારે 25 દીકરાઓએ આપેલી પરિક્ષામાંથી 16 પાસ થયા. દીકરીઓમાં ખુમાએ સારુ પ્રદર્શન કર્યું..
આમ હંમેશની જેેમ દીકરીઓએ મેદાન માર્યું એમ ચોક્કસ કહી શકાય.
આ વખતે ધો.10ની પરીક્ષા આપનાર મોટાભાગના વિદ્યાર્થીઓને વિવિધ સરકારી નોકરીઓમાં રસ છે અને એ માટે સૌ કટીબદ્ધ પણ છે.. એમનું સમણુ સાકાર થાય એ માટે સંસ્થા સાથે સંકળાયેલા સૌ સ્વજનો અને અમે સૌ પ્રયત્ન કરીશું..
વિચરતી જાતિઓની વસાહતોમાંથી અહીંયા ભણવા આવતા બાળકો પાંચમાં કે સાતમાં ધોરણમાં ભણતા હોય છતાં વાંચતા પણ ના આવડે એવી સ્થિતિ હોય.
અમારી જયા હવે તો કોલેજના ત્રીજા વર્ષમાં છે. પણ એ કહેતી દીદી મનેય ક્યાં સાતમાં સુધી વાંચતા આવડતું હતું. હોસ્ટેલમાં આવી પછી જ ધીમે ધીમે પાયો પાકો થતો ગયો અને એ સમાજશાસ્ત્રમાં કોલેજમાં પ્રથમ આવી..
ટૂંકમાં ભણતરમાં નબળા એવા વિદ્યાર્થીઓને ધો.10 સુધી પહોંચાડવા ભારે જહેમત માંગતું કામ છે. પણ VSSMના શિક્ષણના પ્રભાગ સાથે સંકળાયેલા વનીતા, પ્રવિણ, કોકીલા, વાલજી, બીજોલ, કીરણ, વિજય, નરેશનભાઈ બધાની ડિમ્પલબેનની આગેવાનીમાં જબરી મહેનત.. જેનું આ પરિણામ..
કર્મઠ કાર્યકરો મળવા એ નસીબની વાત VSSMનું નસીબ આ બાબતે ઊજળું છે. સાથે મદદ કરનાર સૌ પ્રિયજનનોનો સહયોગ પણ આમાં જવાબદાર..
હોસ્ટેલના આ બાળકો જે નિશાળામાં ભણતા ત્યાંના શિક્ષકોએ પણ બાળકોના ભણતર તેમજ ઘડતરમાં મહત્વનો રોલ ભજવ્યો. દીકરીઓ જ્યાં ભણતી તે એચ.બી.કાપડિયા સ્કૂલ, આદરણીય મુક્તભાઈ, હર્ષભાઈ તેમજ આચાર્ય હેતલબહેનના અમે સૌ ઋણી રહીશું. અમારા બાળકો હીરા જેવા હતા પણ એ હીરાને ઘસીને ચમકતા કરવામાં એમનો રોલ પણ મહત્વનો રહ્યો. આવું જ દીકરાઓ જ્યાં ભણે છે તે પારસ સ્કૂલના ટ્રસ્ટી તેમજ સ્કૂલ સ્ટાફનું પણ.. આપ સૌના અમે ઋણી છીએ..
ધો. 10 સુધી ભણાવવા પાછળનો આશય 10 ધો. પછી ભણતરમાં આગળ ન વધી શકે તેવા વિદ્યાર્થીઓને રૃચી પ્રમાણે અલગ અલગ ટેકનીકલ કોર્સમાં દાખલ કરી શકાય એ પણ ખરો…
